QuoteVoodooLounge13 Quite proud to call The Stones my favorite band, as once upon a time they USED to represent the anti-establishment. Yeah, Right on man! Who needs the cops, or any kind of organized society or medical research. Everybody for himself, and screw others! It would be so much better if there were no rules. And I could do what I want. The establishment just wants to screw me over an

Quotejbwelda I guess you take me too literally. By "a band" I meant the band as an entity, and that includes the publishing arm done usually by the record label they are under contract to. I have been associated with stuff like this long enough to see it as all just one big machine, with interchangeable parts, and instead of going into a long explanation of what I am referring to often

This is the kind of 're-release' that I prefer. Remove cracks, pops and silent parts. No EQ, or other software mastering (mixing, I fear) YMMV, of course, but this suits me. Thank you kindly!

First you say: jbwelda: Kind of funny stance for a band that claimed blues songs as their own compositions. And then this: Quotejbwelda Like I said, I doubt it was really the Stones trying to usurp credit, more like record company cutting corners. And doing what record companies do. jb In a thread that has one thing in common with what you are saying. The Rolling Stones. Sorry,

Quoteshadooby I’m sorry to any poor soul that likes this guy he just does absolutely nothing for me. I simply cannot get into anything he does. And I even like a few Nirvana songs. Sorry to hear that. I think Mr. Jagger's been part of quite a few of the greatest songs of the last 50 years. YMMV, of course.

QuoteFancyBluesMan I quickly soured on Mick's stuff...except for a couple of tracks here and there...and could only muster a lukewarm reaction to 'Crosseyed Heart'. A few hits...a few misses. Truth be told, over the years, I've reacted much more positively to Ronnie's solo offerings. As far solo ALBUMS go, I too think Ronnie's are the best, most even of the bunc

QuoteFancyBluesMan I find it amusing that you suggest...or infer...that since I'm so picky, selective, and discriminatory in my musical wants, that I cherry pick through the Stones' catalog, past and/or future, in order to avoid disappointment. Appreciate your concern for my well-being but your benevolence is misguided and misplaced...and certainly not needed. Glad I could amuse you

QuoteFancyBluesMan I'm fully aware that Mick is free to do whatever he pleases at this stage of the game but I'm sorry, I want the genuine article...Keith's Open G riffs, Ronnie's fills, Charlie's metronomic drumming (sorry Daryl...you just don't move me anymore)...and will accept nothing less. Be sure to skip those tracks that don't have the open G riffs. I

QuoteTIRED The Black & Blue promo just goes to show how much freedom we've lost since the 70s. We think we live in more decent times now, whereas it's just the media giving in to global hypocrisy. The real indecency lives on in many other, far less apparent levels. The references in the B&B promo are innocent, almost naïve if you think about it. Here's also the IORR TV

Quoterbk Likely some tax dodge Jagger had planned. What DIDN'T happen in 1975 was the South American dates that were supposed to follow the US run. Supposedly security and currency fluctuations were the reasoning but rumors at the time had it that the four dates were added to generate the necessary cash to cover the budget of Fordyce, AK for the next two decades. Again rumors at the time

It's not the same problem : in the 60's/70's making a double album (Zep, Dylan, Hendrix) was a conscious decision (you had to have enough good material) and symbolically it was the sign you were entering the club of important artists. Padre69's right : with the CD ag

Quotepadre69 No rock’n’roll album should have more than ten songs on it. And that goes specially for VL, BTB and ABB. Five songs on two sides. The cd era with its 80 minute capacity spoiled many albums. Well, I have heard that some people like Exile On Main Street. 18 songs. But hey, whatever floats their (your?) boat.

QuoteSilver Dagger Each to their own. No point arguing with taste in that case. Just giving my opinion but it does seem to echo a common feeling amongst older Stones fans at least that they are spent force creatively. I guess if you saw them in 73 you might feel the same so excuse my age.. Or as one famous guitarist once said, paraphasing here, couldn't find the original quote online :
