By making additionnal research I see that in my last post I may not have understood the 2011 EU directive in it's full extend - I was wrong about "public domain", this is not the right matter. That put light in the case of the Rolling Stone NOT publishing their own archive post 1970, they don't do it because they don't need to do it. The 2011 EU directive is

QuoteIrix Quoteslewan EU law rules that copyright expires 50 years after a recording was made if a recording has not been commerically used. The German copyright law - - which complies to the 2011/77 EU directive - says in § 85 (3): "The right expires 70 years after the publication of the phonogram. If the phonogram has not been published within 50 years of its production, but h

QuoteIrix QuoteGazza It's only a European copyright issue Pink Floyd released their 1973 live recordings - - also outside of the European Union via streaming services. QuoteGazza I'm not 100% sure why the Stones haven't gone for the copyright protection thing. Maybe they're not interested in because their important stuff is already protected by the new 70-years

Quoteexilestones Kenny Wayne Shepherd would be an excellent guest star with the Rolling Stones! The Spider and the Fly - Kenny Wayne Shepherd featuring James Cotton Ask Kenny Wayne about his “homecoming “ show in Shreveport when Dr. John walked into the dressing room that night he started laughing… didn’t they know what they were doing when they booked Cotton? I like Roger voice very much but are his singing abilities very limited ? Wasn't the reason why Dave was the main PF singer?

QuoteMrForeverMusicFan I think Ray Davies is playing Mark Knopfler's 1937 14-fret National Style "O" Resonator featured on the cover of Brothers In Arms in the video for 'Do It Again'. Even though 'Do It Again' was released before Brothers In Arms, I have to wonder if that's Mark's guitar. Yet Mark first used the guitar on 'Romeo and Juliet

I would be surprised that they are legal release in Europe (including UK). The loophole of the 80's is over now.

Pop culture is not made to last but to the present time. The Rolling Stones ceased to be relevant the day they published a new album and nobody cared about. I don't think that day has came yet. But right The Rolling Stones have not produced anything that big since Start me Up. After that I don't see any single being unquestionably part of a best of...

Roger Waters is probably one of the luckiest touring artist of the last two decades. The 80's saw him flopping when touring in support of his first two solo efforts after he left PF. But from 1999 onward coming back on the road has been really successful for him - The Wall solo tour even being on top of gross of the year.

Roger Waters is using pre recorded tapes of his VOICE. And I don't speak about his virtual duet on Mother. That is a fact. He sings over is own tape but what you actually ear in the venue is mostly the pre recorded tape. Just make a test : listen Roger singing ABITW part 3 in Berlin 1990 - real voice. Then listen to the same song on the 2014 release of The Wall Live.

I have sometimes toyed with an idea of starting a new thread, “why are concert tickets released so long before show dates nowadays?” or something to that effect. When I was young, they were on sale a couple of months prior to the gigs, which was a handy enough waiting time to keep my expectation a

It was a wonderful time. Once seeing my rock stars at the top I have difficulties to enjoy their shows when witnessing them going down. I feel now myself like a man of the past. Glad to have attended most of those I wanted to ear live. Some big regrets to the few I missed, on the top on my list being Mitch Ryder and the late Tom Petty.

QuoteStoneage In a way they have had their future behind them ever since the comeback in 1989. Since then they have been a band more of the past than the future. Their music really mattered in the late sixties and the seventies - it hasn't since. Whatever they do now is not a hanging matter anymore. Except for the hard core fans maybe... I mostly agree with that as their last big hit w

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteWorriedAboutYou The important thing is knowing when to stop. Hi-fi can be an expensive and bottomless rabbit hole. Correct. I'm a "victim" as well, classical music in particular. Music should have back to front depth coming from the speakers, no treble, midrange or bass needed to adjust the sound. Once you get lost in that, the sky is the limit. I kn

Why do you need RS song for testing a system? Always take the music you like and you are familiar with because this is what you will listen on your system. If you want an "audiophile" approach, also take classical : symphonic recordings, organ, piano, all sort of accoustic recordings. Last but not least, the main factor for music reproduction is the room where it is played. It
