I love the kinks. For christmas I got the three disc set "Village Green..." and its one of the most played albums in my catalogue. I think as a group goes, the Kinks best stuff isnt "You really got me", or "all day and all of the night". Its stuff like "Victoria", and "Celluloid Heroes". While I agree that the kinks are underated, my vote goes f

Potted Shrimp: this thread was meant as a joke, sorry if it came off bad. I mean we have threads on ludicrous groups to cover (e.g pink floyd) so i thought id start one on a music genre farthest from the stones.

Here ill throw in my own contribution to the growing list of people to cover by suggesting this ludicrous style to cover. I think sinatra would be perfect for the stones to cover, they already played the nearness of you, which is in the easy listening category and since they are the longest surving group, why not play something by one of the longest surving entertainers? I think something like &q

Its funny, speaking of Godard, I have a history test of People and Ideas from late-60s Europe, and Godard is one of the people we have to know. Now my teacher is a young guy (probably mid 30s) so what else besides "he directed a video about the stones sympathy" should I put down?

I admit im a star trek fan. Im too young to remember TOS, (by about 20 years), but I am a fan of TNG and DS9 (both were great). I also like most of the movies (with the exception of Star trek V ). As far as enterprise is concerned its a pity that its being cancelled. This season has taken the show in directions that fans have wanted to go in since the beginning. We are seeing Old series aliens an

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had this disc on CD. Its very hard to obtain and when it does become available, its usually at a very high price. I am simply looking for a CDR, not neccesarily an original. please email: tridum@yahoo.com

I know this is a popular topic, but what do people recommend. I just got rid of Kazaa because the song selection was bad. So any other suggestions?

Having read this topic, I too listened to Ya Ya's again, and I must say I prefer the version of Midnight Rambler here, more than any other. I like it because it was slow and bluesy, unlike the fast, and at times draining, versions heard later on. Not that I dont appreciate those later versions, I just prefer the Ya Ya's version better.

Since everyone is talking about dropping acid at a concert, im curious to know if anyone got stoned at a beatles concert? I mean getting stoned and barely being able to listen to a "trippy" song like "I wanna be your man", or "I feel fine" must have been awesome, hahahaha. Any thoughts?

The sad fact about elvis was that after the sun era he was a commercial toy. Now granted most rock stars are, but elvis allowed himself to get put into some good movies, but also into some pretty bad ones as well. It became less about the music and more about the image. While the beatles had the image, they still had the musical talent to back it up. By the late 50's Elvis had changed so muc

Delicate sound of thunder, and PULSE have not legally been released yet on DVD. the latter is supposed to be coming out in March, and the former perhaps later in the year. Pompeii is awesome, and so is the Darkside DVD. I would also like to see a legitimate release of one of the Wall concerts. All I have is bootleg footage from one of them, but it looks like it could be cleaned up and perhaps leg

My age shows: the first stones album I bought, was the London Years on CD (pre-SACD). I had just gotten a CD player and wanted to hear some of the songs on it. I got rid of it (gave it to a cousin), and now I regret it, especially for "Under assistant..."

Davido, I totally agree about Amsterdam 69. I just got the complete performance (w/o the announcer speaking over parts and the stuff edited out of the broadcast) and it is awesome. That show must have been a sight. I especially like the very end part where rick wright is playing the concergebeouws pipe organ.

davido, I agree with you about floyd prior to Darkside. They were awesome, and many songs did actually sound better onstage than in the studio. I think they were always more visually spectacular than anything, what with the lights, and films, pretty advanced stuff for the 70's. And then of course the wall. I thought the live versions were better, but I recommend to anyone to try and get a bo

Actually it was a misquote on timeisonourside.com . I dont know if anyone else finds it hard to understand the words to tumbling dice, but I can see how one might mistake it. I thought it to be true, judging by the rest of the language on "exile". sorry for the mistake.
