QuoteIdorh It's great isn't it folks. That now in 2023 we can still enjoy a new Rolling Stones album. Indeed. In these post-post-modern times. When the world is in yet another disastrous turmoil…

Still a great album right? 4 stars maybe, 4.5? So how do you rate it with SSoH and RsB which are monuments on their own? It's a hot album. I'm giving Hackney Diamonds are r

Quotecimaz I'm not trolling. It's just a different opinion than yours. A masterpiece about HD is really overrated. The big four are masterpieces. HD isn't. Masterpiece or not, HD is a very high quality album, that’s for sure. And for me, it is the definitive modern Stones album. That sets this ‘un apart from the other Stones classics, including the big 4, regardless of this equa

Oasis - The Masterplan In fact, the first two albums and this are the best of their entire catalogue IMHO.

Quotematxil QuoteDandelionPowderman I can't listen to Oh No, Not You Again (poorly played and not fun at all), and I find Bite My Head Off both well-played and good fun Well, to each his own of course. Oh No, Not You Again is not polished, not overly organized, probably not very much worked on or thought about. It feels rather spontaneous and quickly done. That approach works well for

A latecomer’s first-hand account of HD. Finally I got the CD (digi-pack version) at our local branch of Fopp yesterday. Prior to that, I had never been exposed to the songs from the album except a few viewings of the Angry video — other than that, not even one note. Today I christened it for just one listen. Very good to excellent tracks all the way. No fillers, basically. A collection of str

QuoteEJM Isn’t 14 the maximum number of dates they can get insurance ? For both North American tours 2015 and 2019, they played 17 shows (N.B. the former includes the Fonda Theatre show). For Europe 2022, they eventually played 14 shows but it excludes the cancelled Bern show. Berlin Waldbühne was announced only three days after Bern was called off — I assume it was planned before that, which m

That they will break the mold of some 14 dates and play more shows could be feasible. Now they have the new album to promote, which means that the situations are completely different from the “bonus years 2012-2022”, there is a renewed, higher motivation than the preceding years to push them a little bit further and harder. I doubt, though, they will divide the dates into two or more continent

QuoteMisterDDDD As others have noted, Eric was an artist. Hadn't seen any of his art posted here, but he often spoke of his training and his small studio on the coast (often when in a "debate" with me and others about Ronnie's art ) A link to his art page, which as others have mentioned, was quite impressive. Amazing. I didn’t know he was an artist. And of this cal

My zoetrope vinyl was duly delivered and arrived at my home this afternoon, the album release day. I’m in Britain, after all. I don’t have a player at hand, though. Nothing else yet. Another few days for me to go out and lay my hands on a CD copy. Until then — no nothing. After Angry, I haven’t even heard SSOH one bit. Not everybody on this board is desperate.

Was looking forward to seeing Samantha Fish & Jesse Dayton in Glasgow tonight. Well, in the evening of Tuesday 17th, my back was hit by a sudden acute pain out of nowhere, what the Germans call “Hexenschuss (witch’s blow)”. I somehow managed the Terry Reid concert the following day, but no way could I put up with an all-standing show at Barrowland. Moreover, the storm is rampaging all over Br

Carla was one-of-a-kind. Left behind a rich and unique legacy in contemporary jazz. Saw her twice long time ago, in Osaka ‘84 and Tokyo ‘90, respectively. On the second occasion, she was one of the members of Liberation Music Orchestra, bassist Charlie Hayden’s politically oriented musical collective, a big ensemble of some 10-15 players. I remember, during the interplay, Don Cherry stepped f

Interesting that the first show was planned for the fans of France that the tour didn’t cover as Keith was banned from visiting the country due to his past drug possession. So it was a “French show” that happened in Belgium so to speak. And what makes the matter ironical is that the first show is in general regarded as better of the two by the fans.

Mr. Blue — the opener of Pay Pack & Follow (2001), John Phillips’ posthumous, quasi-Stones album. Starts with the line, “Meet Mr. Blue, elegant Jew, of New York City”. Recorded in 1973, Mick, Keith and Ronnie all join in the recording here.
