The now defunct Mayfair Ballroom is the place of Led Zeppelin’s U.K. debut after their Scandinavian tour. They were still billed as ‘The Yardbirds’ (not as ‘The New Yardbirds’ as the myth has it). You can see the blue plaque to commemorate this historic significance outside the Gate leisure complex, where the club used to stand. Trivia: 1. The day Led Zeppelin debuted in the U

Quoteroryfaninva Bic lighter at the ready..Manchester 2013... I was there. The Apollo, November 17, to be exact. A captivating show and a big pleasure for me as they never toured Japan and I didn’t catch the 2009 reunion at the Hammersmith Apollo. I have the setlist of the day — a gentleman from Newcastle who was a keen follower of the Mott kindly handed it over to me, saying, “I’ve already

“How can I be anti-Japanese when someone who has the biggest influence on me is Japanese?” — Mark E. Smith, commenting in the interview for a music magazine during The Fall’s one and only Japan tour that materialized in July, 1990.

Quotewelshphil A lovely area and not a far walk from Bleeker Street. It’s not that far from Bowery Street, either. I saw Tom Tom Club at the CBGB as a tourist punk. On my way back to the Times Square Hotel where I stayed (another dodgy place according to the locals), I was with a punter from Switzerland. There was nobody but us two on the subway train.

If you visit St. Mark’s Place, it is worth remembering that the shoot was done in front of the same buildings featured on the album cover of Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin. . Regarding the subway. The first time I visited New York was around the end of Summer 1988 (which was also my first American trip). I used subway late at night, sometimes around midnight. I had to, because some of my

Eric Clapton & His Band, Koseinenkin Kaikan, Osaka, November 6, 1974 The final date of his first ever Japan tour, which counts up to 23 rounds with April 2023, his latest, and 222 shows in total. To this day, I have attended all but one of his Osaka shows, 42 out of 43, among other locations across seven countries, although he stopped playing regional shows after 2014 (he played Tokyo’s Bu

For me, the VL and B2B tour versions of Satisfaction are the only approved ones of the song played through the modern Stones era (1989-). Other than them…meh.

I was in GA at Düsseldorf 2017 with LD ticket. The sound was not the best but not bad, either. That was the only show I attended that year. Good show wasn’t it? Was spurred to post my first ever comment on this forum. Met a couple from Northern Germany at the hotel restaurant as well as on my way back from the show on the train. They said they checked the IORR.

Quotefalo01 Quotegotdablouse Stadiums in the fall in Europe ? They haven't done that for a while have they ? Well I suppose 2017 started outdoors in September. Yes, a few outdoor gigs in September, after that it will be horrible sounding indoor crap like Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, Amsterdam etc.... I would prefer the Stones show at horrible sounding indoor crap to no Stones show at all.

Scandalized by the Angry hot chick video? You call it rebellious? Laughable. It’s only a tired cliche (but some of the folks here like it). “Sex, drugs & rock ‘n’ roll” — Madonna does it better these days. From Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY last night (December 14, 2023):

QuoteRollingFreak Sounds like a nice night. Did it have anyone from previous lineups there? Matthew Fisher? Robin Trower? I feel a star studded Gary Brooker tribute concert could really put together a unique night where it brings in a lot of former people he'd worked with, like Eric Clapton's tribute to Ginger Baker. No, neither Fisher nor Trower turned up for whatever reason. The

Belated but my few comments here to offer on the Slowhand-less “Remembering Gary Brooker” concert in Guildford last week. In short, it was a nice event and a great success. All of the musicians put on spirited performances that well made up for the absence of the biggest star of the night. At the end of the day, I didn’t feel shortchanged at all and so did everybody who was there to see the tribu

Quoterayrad hi risingstone apolgies for the late reply - i've only just seen your post! Hi rayrad, Many thanks for your long post and detailed comments on GM/EOTR. It was way more than I expected to receive, and I’m digesting all the insightful information you delivered. As you know, GM is scheduled in the third weekend of August whereas EOTR the fifth weekend of the same month or

If they perform a “warm-up gig” at the Co-op Live Manchester prior to the NA tour, that would be fantastic. I don’t hold my breath, though.

Quote24FPS It IS their best since Some Girls. And more well rounded too. I'm still awed by the moments of pure beauty. It was pure genius to recognize the same old bass wasn't going to cut it and to have the you know whats to fix it. Jesus, Keith's guitar on Rolling Stone Blues is authentic as you can get. +1 Also, I rate HD higher than GHS among their 1970s products.

Madonna in London — tonight. Her final two-month European tour date and my last gig to attend this year. Last night I was going to Far From Saints gig in Islington, discounted ticket secured. As I arrived at the air b&b type accommodation I had booked a couple of months before, lo and behold, it turned out that someone else lives there! I spent the rest of the all evening, feeling despera
