Yes, Charlie absolutely used the rimshot technique. Not always, but plenty.

Quotevertigojoe Charlie may be gone but his influence extends to having hand picked the existing rhythm section of the current line up. You may debate the wisdom of his choices. Maybe one out of two ain’t bad. I like Steve. Steve is a *phenomenal* drummer. But on the specific topic of the tone of his snare drum, there’s no denying it sounds different. It doesn’t sound like it did with the Winos

Some songs sound better than others. SMU is particularly flat and inert. Steve is stuck in a sort of liminal space where he sounds neither like himself nor Charlie. Mick has explicitly urged him to be himself. That is good advice.

Yes, I forgot about Silver Train. That would definitely count. Pity it was such a mess.

Sorry for the mistake on Mr. D. I Wanna Be Your Man was played in London and Brooklyn in 2012. The point remains.

Quotekeefmick Fool to Cry and Rainbow I believe classify as rarely played. One’s definition is subjective, but here are a few examples I think we could all agree on. Most of these were played only once or twice. 2012 — Lady Jane, I Wanna Be Your Man 2013 — Emotional Rescue 2014 — Dancing with Mr. D 2015 — Sticky Fingers tracks like I Got the Blues and You Gotta Move 2016 — Mixed Emotions

… also, McCready mentioned that the new song “Wreckage” is in open G. I listened to it this morning, and I was like, “Hey, there’s Keith’s Tell Me Straight chord.” And then, “Actually the whole thing sounds like it could’ve been on Hackney Diamonds.” Stupid me — Andrew Watt produced it, of course!

So the band was on the Howard Stern Show this morning. Mike and Eddie told a funny story about opening for Keith on NYE 1993, then Howard asked Mike about open-G and taking the low-E string off, etc. McCready explained that Keith learned his tunings from Gram Parsons. He sounded like a huge and deeply-rooted fan. Not sure how he got that history so wrong.

Meanwhile, uptempo favourites Start Me Up, Sympathy for the Devil, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Honky Tonk Women, Street Fighting Man, Paint it Black and Gimme Shelter are likely to be highlights during the 19-date tour.” I

QuoteRoadster32 Wise words by Keith (around 2:40): video: You got to know acoustic before you got to know electric stuff. They just put a microphone in. He said phone as in “telephone.” A classic Keith-ism. The unexpectedly insightful one-liner. My other favorite is “Money is a funny thing. If you think about it too much, there’s never enough. But if you don’t think about it all … th

Quotehockenheim95 Quotedoitywoik Judging from the past decades there is a better chance in Europe to get more than just two new songs. Maybe one will have to wait for a potential European leg of the tour for more of the new songs. But who knows. I think it is more the other way around. Let's have a look at the latest studio albums and songs played on the associated tours! A Bigger Bang:

QuoteSpud Not sure it was their ability to tolerate substances that was altogether the issue. Just as much down to them overdoing it, safe in the knowledge that in the modern show format they could get away with it . There’s definitely something to that. The horns, the backup vox, the keys — a sonic safety get, so to speak. Still: listen to that clip of Tumbling above. When Keith starts n

QuoteMathijs On several Licks shows I noticed they had a habit of smoking big joints before or during the show. At Vredenburg Keith smoked a big joint on stage (considered quite childish in The Netherlands...), and 10 minutes later he was completely out of it, hardly being able to play guitar. At Olympia you could see Wood smoke a joint backstage, and he was just completely out of it during the

Talking of details, I remember a promotional video for VL where you could see Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Don Was listening to a playback of a brief vocal snippet of an instrumental track from Voodoo Brew CD3.
