Quick turnaround for the Patriots as they follow up their initial Sofi Field appearance with another LA matchup vs. the 'We Are Not the LA Chargers' Rams on Thursday Night. Same old story for NE: win in order to keep alive any slim chance at making the playoffs. Rams have a pretty stout defense so scoring points could be hard to come by. Patriots will need another solid effort from t

Well, in response to the question raised in my pre-game post, Jarrett Stidham DID replace Cam Newton vs. the Chargers today...but with the Patriots LEADING by a score of 35-0! Did anyone honestly see this one coming? While Newton's passing stats were once again minuscule, his 87.4 QB rating was a marked improvement over the previous week's 23.6. Only 69 yards through the air but one

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteFancyBluesMan Seems as if that was the prevailing narrative until they signed Newton, after which everything went south for Stidham... I live in the south. Actually below the Deep South. It's 100% better than the North. Hell, it's 110% better, a 150% better, any percentage better. A million. The abuse of that term has got to stop. It's highly offensive.

If the Patriots were willing to spend $25 million on the QB position, Brady may not have left. And Teddy Bridgewater might have been NE's target once he did. But at the time of Newton's signing, there was hardly any cap space available, yet Belichick franchised C Joe Thuney for $14.5 million and gave Stephon Gilmore an extra $5 million to keep him content. Not only have the Patriots scr

Willie Mays... I remember a conversation I had with my Dad about baseball when I was a kid (he was a catcher in the Cardinals' minor league system for a bit) and he told me about the time he had gone to see Mays play. I asked him what it was like and he said "He was everything everyone said he was".

Hey Chris, Funny, people were pleading with the Patriots to offer Newton a contract extension after the first two games; now, they're getting in line to drive him to the airport in anticipation of him being shipped out of town. I wouldn't say NE got scammed on the deal...Newton has done all the right things since arriving, except play well...but Belichick definitely botched things up

Interesting observation jbwelda; wish I still had the LP to investigate further and confirm your insight. But it's been almost 25 years since I last listened to it so the memory might be a bit hazy.

Biggest question re: Sunday's Patriots-Chargers contest does not center around who will win the game, but whether or not Cam Newton gets pulled if he cannot improve upon last week's abysmal performance (23.6 QB Rating) vs. the Cardinals. It's been a mighty struggle for Newton on many fronts since he returned from his COVID-19 diagnosis: an inability to adjust plays at the line o

My forst venture into the world of bootlegs began back in the 70s, when I was securing Stones' bootlegs via mail-order from a place in New York doing business as Adlibitum Records. It was a very rudimentary operation...run out of a P.O. Box...but I had good success dealing with them. They furnished a monthly catalog list, which included prices and sound quality ratings, and you simply wrot

Took a while for this song to get my attention. Granted, far from their finest, yet it still has enough appeal that I never skip over it...unlike 'Can't Be Seen With You'. Musically, I like the fiddle and mandolin contributions and the sound of Keith's voice when he harmonizes with Mick. Sure do miss those days when they used to share the mic onstage.

Week 12 has the Patriots hosting the Cardinals...and yet another mobile QB in Kyler Murray. Wilson, Mahomes, Jackson, Watson...am I sensing a trend here? With the way NE's season has progressed thus far (or is regressed the more appropriate word?), I'll leave it up to Mick to sum up my feelings: "Looks like another dead-end Sunday"

The Patriots go into Houston...against the worst run defense in the NFL...and rush for a total of 86 yards, approximately half of what they average per game. Damian Harris...who accounted for 25 yards (and

Another Sunday, another must-win for the Patriots as they're on the road to face the Houston Texans. Sitting at 2-7, this season has been a bust for Deshawn Watson and Co. but they've been competitive in just about every game so taking this matchup lightly could result in dour consequences. Patriots will likely try to take advantage of the Texans' poor run defense so I look for Har

Well, what can I say? The Patriots stepped up against a Ravens' team that wasn't at their best and came away with a much-needed victory...even if it counted as a strike against me in my Survival League. Adopting a conservative offensive scheme that showcased their strong running game...coupled with a defensive effort that kept Lamar Jackson under wraps...the Patriots were in control on

Patriots-Ravens are on tap in this week's Sunday Night game; might we see a repeat of the 37-20 Week 9 shellacking that took place in Baltimore last season, which put an end to NE's 8-0 start? While the Ravens' offense...and Lamar Jackson...have not been as explosive as they were in 2019, this is still a match-up problem for Bill Belichick & staff. While some people feel the

Inquiring minds want to know: did the Patriots actually last night's game or did the Jets go into 'tank mode' when they found themselves in the lead with six minutes left to play? Bonehead penalties, questionable play-calling, and a poor defensive scheme had the conspiracy theorists working overtime today. Even with the win, NE didn't do anything to convince people they

Patriots should put an end to their four-game skid with a win tonight vs. the clueless Jets but at this point, stranger things have happened. NE will be without defensive starters Gilmore, Bentley, and Guy while being forced to elevate some practice squad personnel to fill in at TE due to injuries at that position. Can things get any worse? I thought the offense started to show some life duri

Such a disheartening loss for the Patriots yesterday. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind they were going to steal the win in regulation...they had the Bills on their heels...but then the Newton fumble occurred. While I give some credit to Zimmer for the punch-out, Newton has got to do a better job of protecting the ball in that scenario. At the very worst, they tie the game with a short FG

Desperation time this Sunday for NE if they hope to keep any chance for a division title...or, for that matter, a Wild Card berth... within reach. The Patriots are clearly in a tailspin and a loss vs. the Bills will emphatically put an end to any talk regarding postseason play this year as 'rebuild' then becomes the dominant theme. Nasty weather conditions are in the forecast for Ri

Well, it's now become clear as day that the jig is up for the Patriots; just when you think they couldn't play any worse than they did against the Broncos, the 49ers come into town and thoroghly embarrass them. Another game where they failed to match the opposing team's energy level on both sides of the ball. And Cam Newton, who earlier in the season showed glimpses of what he
