Crikey, people falling out over Stones re-issues that have just replaced the previous label on the store shelves. The Stones seem to create havoc with their fans even when they do nothing which is what this re-issue really is. Universal have paid a token amount for the 71 onwards back catalogue so the Stones will not add any extra's to these albums. Lets not take this issue seriously by wr

This is not a new topic but is pretty realisic. Mick is now 65 going on 40 but Keith is 64 go ing on perhaps 100 but should be asleep rather than here. We are all 'Stones' fanatics ( I have been for 46 years ) but unfortunately it will end sometime. I really wish that the 'Stones' would say that is it and play a live concert in Europe,USA,Japan and Australia at an open air

They cannot be compared with the 'Stones or the 'Beatle's and yet they as far as the younger generation is concerned they are comparible. There is nothing wrong with this as whence i was a teenager i had my own heroes and laughed at critism of them by my older peers. As 'Oasis' have been top of the pile in the UK and Europe for over 10 years one must respect what they h

Have had the Dutch release for some time now. Could not wait until the UK version was released early November as on holiday 25/10 - 18/11/08 in South Africa to see my older brother family and friends. Have played it several times on my Sony 40' TV plus surround sound but not anyway as good as the Cinema. The 'Stones' have excelled for a multitude of years X 40 but they need to r

Releasing Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields as a double 'A' side prevented the 'Beatles' from having a No1 single in the U.K.. In the mid 60's the sales of a double 'A' side single were halved and this allowed 'Engelbert Humperdink' to take No 1 spot with Please Release Me. THe 'Stones' suffered the same fate in the U.K. when Lets Spend the Nigh

Aftermath is where the 'Stones' started to craft their music and writing skills to another dimension. I am Waiting Lady Jane Doncha Bother Me Out of Time Flight 505 High & Dry Its Not Easy Really good songs all moulded and crafted differently yet pathing the way to give them the confidence to move to another level in their development. Have not seen any footage of 'Gimme Little Drink' from 5/7/69 which was later changed to Loving Cup appearing on 'EOMS' in 1972. Its unlikey to surface as as was filmed by 'Granada ' TV and would have been edited to less than 60 minutes which will account for some songs going missing.

Terrific version of 'Paint it Black' at Twickenham 2003. PIB has become a modern day classic in the guy's setlist since it cameback into the fold in 1989.

It's about shooting up heroin..... "What's the matter with the boy? He don't come around no more, Is he checking out for sure? Is he gonna close the door on me?" is about trying to score heroin on the street. "Plug in, flush out and fire the @#$%&' feed" is shooting up. "Feel so hypnotized, can't describe the scene. If a world tour comes off this will be dangerous territory for Plant/Page and co. Apart from the effort that their bodies will be put thru physical in at least 3 concerts per week they will have to sustain a high level of performance throughout the tour or be savaged by critics and fans. This is a lot harder than what everyone thinks but when the big bucks are offered along with massaging egos

Gazza - the cost of hauling the heavy 'Steel Wheels' set around Europe was prohibitive so lighter frame 'Urban Jungle ' design was used which was also easier to transport around the various locations. Yes the final two concerts at Wembley Stadium used the heavy 'Steel Wheels' set but it was touch and go for a safety ticket being passed and possible damage to

In Europe 1990 the 'Stones' used the Urban Jungle stage as the 'Steel Wheels set was too big and costly to haul around the different venues.

PMk251 - The 'Stones did not become a big time corporate entertertainment machine until the 'Steel Wheels' tour 1989/90. The 'Stones were still expressing their views in 1978 with Some Girls,Shattered,Miss You,Faraway Eyes etc. Bear in mind that the punk explosion mid 70's was openly declared by the new style bands as the end of the road for the '

With sssoul the troubadour line could mean many things but this is the most likely - Mick was not referring to the Beatles whose songs and actions contributed to the great hippie trail searching for enlightenment on the Indian subcontinent. The "Troubadours" were in fact the hippies who followed the 'Beatles' to India in search of transendendal enlightenment or inn

Do you know what troubadours are? They were traveling story tellers/singers/musicians who would travel from town to town, performing for donations. Usually along pilgrimage routes so that they could perform to pilgrims. It was not a safe job since bandits and thieves would look for victims along roads That may be what Mick refers to when he states I laid traps for troubadours who got killed b

Ask yourself the question who has not heard of the 'Rolling Stones' They are certainly not underated but it is true that the musical styles they encompass such as blues, country, dance and rock and roll are not to everyones taste . The 'Stones' music is certainly not middle of the road easy to listen to or simple to understand and perhaps not writting purely commercial songs h

1968-1972 was the 'Stones' at their most creative and song writing best. Beggars,Banquet,Let it Bleed,Sticky Fingers & EOMS. What a quartet of albums with exceptional songs on them that the skinny english cats rely on when playing most often in live concert. If forced to select a best song from Let it Bleed then the haunting 'Gimme Shelter' has never been surpassed.

Hard to believe that Rolled Gold has sold 100k in th UK in 6 weeks and will shortly overtake ABB. This album is a slightly different slant on Hot Rocks but again its a 'Stones' greatest hits complilation with almost the same songs being recyled. With 40 Licks previously having sold over 1.0m copies in the UK it is more and more apparent that fans do not want to buy new 'Stones

The U.K./USA is going thru a bring back any band from the 70's/80's/90's reunion tour faze. Reunion tours such as Duran Duran,Spice Girls,Boyzone,Police are making big money for the promoters and the bands. This is a new fad as they are all well past their sell by date but fans who grew up with them are happy to pay to see them again. The promoters are wheeling out above named a

Mick Jagger is one of rock's most underrated lyricists. Monkey Man, from 1969's Let It Bleed, is perhaps his funniest moment. Playing up to the group's increasingly degenerate image, he sings mockingly, "I'm a fleabit, peanut monkey / All my friends are junkies / Well, that's not really true." Or was it? Monkey Man is a medium tempo song with lots of instrumen

Mofur - Yes i read the thread from start to finish and am not deaf and blind. We all have different tastes and opinions which should be respected and perhaps you mis-interpreted the different contents of my post. One thing is for sure is that the 'Stones' song writing creativity nose dived from 1979 onwards versus their output from 1964-1978 and that is a hard fact of
