I don't care for Dirty Work, but Thief in the Night is one of the songs I come back to quite frequently, late at night, headphones. Most of the things the rock press says about Keith Richards are just the legend; the fact that he came up with incredible songs like this that nobody knows about is amazing. It's like there is this other Keith standing right in front of us that the wider

Eventually there will be a show where they just can't go on. Pray they're able to let go when that happens and the fans support them.

It's more about the fashion of the music world than it is about music. But I'm not one of those rock snobs who thinks MC5 should be there and not Madonna. It's a pop music museum.

Quotejbwelda Yes as an adult I was horrified. They did drugs??? What??? What about the children for God's sake! -concerned mothers of the world Seriously? I just thought most of that talk demonstrated how he realized at some point that he had wasted large blocks of his life just being high. It was more tragic that horrifying. jb Yes, tragic perhaps a better world. I knew they d

First read I loved it, like the teenage fan I was. Second read I was horrified, like the adult I am now. Third read I was grateful that he revealed quite a bit about himself, the good and the bad, and showed himself to be a genuine artist and a good man with an interesting point of view.

Roughly 1968-1969, when they wrote most of the songs that appeared on the Big 4 and which have made up the best part of their live shows for decades.

It was pretty bad. They brought in a great director and either put handcuffs on him or he was too starstruck to use the access he had. The 'plot' was stupid. Maybe it was there to illustrate Jagger's penchant for control.

I'd like to learn more about the rental car Keith was driving when he was arrested in Fordyce, Arkansas.

As an Irish person, I love the Rolling Stones. As a son who saw his father knocked down by British soldiers, I respect and admire the accomplishments of both the Irish and English peoples and know that any peoples have made historical errors. I don't know any serious Irish people who are still bitter about Cromwell or the Famine or centuries of colonialism, etc. We need to stop making vi

I don't care for rap music, but hip hop artists still are allowed artistic license to say whatever they want, however they want, without old white guys tut tutting them. The Stones used to have that license, too.

Not my favorite song, but they were quite sincere in working up this song. Both Mick and Keith, from what I've read. Also naive.

QuoteTaylor1 Stop Breaking Down on Exile is the best Stones' blues album cover. Also great is Cant be Satisfied, Prodigal Son and Little Red Rooster . Mick Tylor's solo on the Ladies and Gentlemen Ft Worth performance of Love In Vain is the greatest blues song solo I have ever heard Good choices.

It feels as if they have determined to go on as long as they can, until something happens to derail a key member. You have to respect that. They're going to go out on their own terms. I might like to see them play a final run of shows in London and then take a bow; but more likely it will end in some midwestern U.S. city where Keith forgets the opening chords to SMU, or Mick's voicebox

Thanks for sharing. I always thought of CSN as the polar opposite of the Stones -- no humor, no swing and no fun to party with.

This is the earliest contemporary account I've seen that treats Keith as somewhat the creative inspiration behind the music.

His focus on Keith's musicianship is striking. I wonder if they had met.

Back in the 80s, the songwriting partnership completely broke down and their audience aged out of buying records. It's been pretty remarkable they've continued for 40 years as their own cover band. They put on good shows and have kept the mythology alive.

Agree 100 pct. They must have realized it, because they came back with B&B, maybe their best sounding album.

It might be their most professional record. The sound is great, whether that's the engineering or the production. Jagger's vocals are rich and varied. He was really working hard and hadn't begun to fall back on mannerisms. The musicianship, especially from the session guitars, is brilliant. They touched many genres and showed off their ability to play anything and make it thems

QuoteMisterDDDD This seems more "anti-government" than "pro-freedom" to me. .... Same thing, really. The authorities are using fear to limit freedom. And look, Van Morrison grew up working class in Northern Ireland listening to black music. That's pretty much a recipe for distrusting people in power.

Brown Sugar is a great lyric and it's a waste of time to explain why. The whole piece is ridiculous. One of the reasons kids listen to rap and hip hop these days is that every topic is fair game. There's no self-censorship, like there is with the Stones and other white acts.

Quotestrat72 Outside of the big four it is one of my favourites..... Hey Negrita & Hot Stuff are seriously funky grooves. Hand of Fate & Crazy Mama are punchy Stones rockers. Memory Motel & Fool To Cry are beautiful ballads. Love it...... Agree!
