QuoteDandelionPowderman Quote24FPS Get Yer Ya Yas' is among the best live rock albums ever made, no matter how it was stitched together. Band of Gypsys is another one that has edits, but is still immensely powerful. Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East. The Woodstock soundtrack. Bangla Desh. Bob Marley Live at the Rainbow. David (Bowie) Live (1974). These are giants, in the top ten of all ti

QuoteJumpinJimF QuoteGasLightStreet I get the liking of other Stones live albums but the searing qualities of GYYYO! and LIVE IN TEXAS are above all else. There's just something insanely awesome about them. As goofy as STILL LIFE I think it's a fantastic live album but I know it's not... in the same building as GYYYO, LIVE IN TEXAS and Brussels (I suppose LEEDS could be thrown

QuoteHMS Still Life, Brussels, Roundhouse, Leeds, Texas - all pretty good albums, but NOTHING gets in the way of L.A. Forum & Shine A Light. Shine A Light? You can't be serious.

QuoteGasLightStreet No matter. GET YER YA-YA'S OUT! and LIVE IN TEXAS are the supreme live Stones albums. I would say Brussels Affair is in the conversation as is Live at Leeds 1971.

I would rather have the covers album at this point. It will be more interesting to me. Their last few albums of originals have been rather weak. It will also be a throwback to their early years when they were more of the blues/rock band. It is doubtful they will recapture the magic at this point and there is less pressure to write good songs. I would also prefer more Vault releases or Su

There are some good deeper tracks on this compilation and some key tracks omitted from Rolled Gold.

QuoteDeltics QuoteDandelionPowderman Rolled Gold, Volume 2 has tracks not featured on More Hot Rocks as well.. Volume 2 wasn't widely released. As far as I know it was only issued in Germany but I'm happy to be proven wrong. What's certain is that it was never released in the UK. Some of the tracks from Volume 2 on Rolled Gold ended up on the 2 cd version with bonus tracks

QuoteLiveAtHidepark If I think about compilations of the Decca/London period, Nothing can beat "Hot Rocks" + "More Hot Rocks". But this "Rolled Gold" have a very, very beautiful front cover. The faces of 6 stones, just like "Metamorphosis" The picture on the back cover is from Lyon 1970. The expanded Rolled Gold contains all of the tracks on Hot Rocks a

QuoteBlueranger Quoteboogaloojef It's strange they are including the U.S. version of Aftermath just for Paint It Black. That's not just because of that. The whole album are a different listening experience. I never listen to the U.S. or U.K version but the cdr I burned that has all the tracks from both versions and the non-lp single sides.

They should have included Jump On Top Of Me, The Storm and I'm Gonna Drive and deleted some other tracks.

QuoteWitness Quoteboogaloojef QuoteHMS At least GHS is not as long as EOMS. They should have shelved it and later combined the best 4 tracks with the best songs of IORR, that may had led to a decent album with some moments of greatness. I would argue that the best tracks from Emotional Rescue should have been combined with the best tracks from the Some Girls bonus disc to make a decent album.

Quoteloog droog Quoteboogaloojef It's still better than Emotional Rescue. That's called "damning with faint praise." I actually like Goats Head Soup. Emotional Rescue not so much.

QuoteHMS They should have been releasing two singles instead of an album that mediocre and boring: Heartbreaker/Hide Your Love Angie/Star Star Albums like GHS only come from fullfilling contracts. It's still better than Emotional Rescue.

I would think Goats Head Soup would be a good candidate for the a Deluxe Edition as a stand alone. There are quite a few outtakes, alternate takes and the live tracks from the 1973 tour to use as bonus material for a Deluxe Edition.

QuoteDandelionPowderman <The version of Waiting On A Friend from the Goats Head Soup sessions actually had vocals> Very rough vocals, and not the final lyrics.. True but at least it had vocals.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Made In The Shade, Time Waits For No One, Ya Ya's Deluxe, SF Deluxe, Exile Deluxe and The Brussels Affair document the Taylor era just fine, imo. El Mocambo as a separate release would have been awesome, though. They still till need to release the live album from 1972. Something from 1970 with Roll Over Beethoven would be cool as well.

QuoteMaindefender Quoteboogaloojef Well, they could have included tracks like Criss Cross, Through The Lonely Nights, Short And Curlies or Waiting On A Friend instead of some of the tracks that they chose. Tops.... I believe the version of Tops from the Goats Head Soup sessions did not have vocals and was only a backing track. They would have had to finish the song. The version of Wait

Exile On Main Street is a summary of the assimilation of the Stones musical influences up to that point in time. It doesn't need to be edited.

QuoteHMS Yes I do. Fool To Cry is indeed a clunker as big as a skyscraper, it´s awful bad. The other ballad, Memory Motel, is a true gem and so much better than all of the ballads on GHS/IORR. I dont say Black & Blue is that great because there´s finally no Taylor involved. But it shows that the Stones didnt need Taylor to create great albums (and Black & Blue is a truly great album). Bo

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoteboogaloojef You must have low standards. You Gotta Move is the song that works the best of the rarely played songs in my opinion. Low standards? I like those songs. Keith plays the riff consistently wrong throughout (in minor) on You Gotta Move. That may fvck up the tune a little, as you probably have noticed (being a man of high standards, I mean), but I'm
