QuoteChester What an utter disgrace. Fallon couldn't stop babbling long enough to let Keith say more than three straight words and then it was over. Just terrible. Even Keith seemed disappointed, but was too cool to let it show. Fallon's a terrible interviewer because he always comes across as a fanboy more than anything else. Ironically, this is also the secret to his success as he

I think Crosseyed Heart is Keith's first solo album that doesn't feel like it needs Mick to step in and finish it. Part of that is due to the songs not relying as heavily on Stonesy, open G riffs, and the other is that there's a maturity and depth to the whole production. For example, the title track isn't much of a song at all, but put it into context and suddenly it become

QuoteMr1970 Sorry to the some of the folks on here but to say that Nothing on Me does not have the Demon chorus melody, well, you're just wanting to not hear it. "There's a Demon in me", "You ain't got nothing on me..." sounds exactly the same. No, there's definitely a similarity with the title's melody line. It's just that the songs themselve

It sounds like Henley had been listening to a lot of "Hickory Wind", which may or may not be ironic given that above quote from Gram.

In fairness to Keith, this sketch aired just before his interview and simply destroyed. It could be weeks before they are able to rebuild the studio enough so that guests once again have a place to perform.

This album may get a slight boost from the Netflix doc- as that will provide some continuing exposure that it otherwise wouldn't receive- but it's still going to have a steep drop in week 2. This is the kind of album that appeals to a niche audience and isn't mainstream or commercial enough to be a relevant presence in the charts. However, a Top Ten debut would still be a big win

Quotegeorgelicks3 1/2 stars or a 7/10 is a good rating for the album, I think it's a good record with mostly good songs and some filler/random jams, nothing groundbreaking, a good album from a legend, that's all. Yes, it doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything but is exactly what you would want from a Keith solo album. For me the filler here is more interesting and varied than

QuoteRipThisBone And after listening CROSSEYED HEART muser about which songs could have been better with CHARLIE, RONNIE, MICK JAGGER and MICK TAYLOR, maybe even BILL. I think Heartstopper, Robbed Blind, and Lover's Plea could have easily been on a Stones album. Just A Gift also reminds me of something that would have been right at home on Voodoo Lounge.

I'm trying to avoid listening to the bootleg any further, as each released track has been significantly more impressive. I would love to see the Stones record a new album with the kind of depth and warmth that Crosseyed Heart boasts.

Love Overdue is no more "pure" Jamaican reggae than Sweet Virginia or Dead Flowers were "authentic" American country that would've been heard blasting out of a radio in the Deep South during the 1950s. And they're not supposed to be. This is Keith and the Stones interpreting musical influences in a way that makes it uniquely their own. To that end, all of thes

QuoteBashlets so what is the prediction for the final song to be released this coming Monday? Georgelicks posted some remark a couple of weeks back that HEARTSTOPPER would be the key to sell this album. So im hoping this is unleashed on the world on 7th of September. We are now less than 2 weeks away. Based on the previous 3 unlocks, Illusion or Love Overdue would both be good choices if they&

QuoteMel Belli Goodnight Irene is even more 1977esque. I think of Robbed Blind as Toronto era and Goodnight Irene as Longview Farm. (I also love the fact that fans can actually make comparisons like this in 2015.)

I wonder if someone stole the plaque or the people in charge of this campaign just didn't get it there in time? Either seems like a plausible scenario. LOL Whatever the case I'm just happy that Robbed Blind was the latest song. I wanted Substantial Damage last week so that I could hear a better copy and Robbed Blind this week because it's my favorite song on the album. If I

Quotewith sssoul As for broom/plume/groove/prune, it's also true that Keith does leave in little slips of the lip like "how to plove a fool" in This Place Is Empty or (in Amnesia) "but it seems I've been around" when "and" is plainly meant. Yeah, I hear "broom" and assume it's meant to be "plume". As we all know, it wouldn'

QuoteBashlets what is the prediction for the next track released on Monday? I have a feeling its gonna be the ballad with Norah Jones. Robbed Blind or Love Overdue would be a good showcase for the album's range. I agree Illusion is likely to be one of the remaining tracks because of Norah Jones' contribution.

Great review from Uncut. I agree the album is surprisingly cohesive, as if recorded in a matter of weeks instead of piecemeal over several years. It's a reminder of the days when the Stones could make it sound as though disco, punk, and country could fit comfortably on the same album.

Substantial Damage is one of the tracks that didn't fare too well on the bootleg in terms of sound quality, so I was hoping it would be selected for this campaign. It's also one that stood out on first listen, reminding me of how Isaac Hayes used to take a funky groove and just jam on it for the entire song. Along with Lover's Plea and Something For Nothing, it adds a hint of M

QuoteLorenz I think - maybe the target audience is also not the right fit for this kind of promo That was my first thought. It's a good idea, but also the kind of viral gimmick that's better suited to a younger fanbase. Most Stones fans don't have time to drop everything and go on a gps marketing hunt. An online viral hunt may have been a better fit here.

QuoteLorenzand we still would need the password form that sign there. Yes, I meant it as the next logical step after calling the store for assistance. However, if this week's password is as basic as "amnesia1" was, it could also just be a case of trying "____2" until we hit upon the correct song title. But I fear we've now reached the point of giving this whole

QuotegwenBecause as the location is sent by your own browser, it is usually quite easy to fool. I wondered if someone had actually visited the place. That's another idea. Someone could fake the gps in their phone and see if it would trigger the unlock prompt. The only problem is that it might screw up the promotion if they're also wanting a photo of each fan standing beside the plaq

Amnesia was one of the tracks that stood out for me immediately, but it's even better in this quality. (Didn't catch Keith's "No @#$%&' way!" before!) There's a few other tracks that didn't fare very well with the bootleg quality (Blues in the Morning; Substantial Damage) and had a very muddy sound. So I'm expecting a similar revelation from those a

QuoteKRiffhardIMO "Substantial Damage" is a corrosive, dirty, hammering, terrific funky song! And it doesn't matter where it goes! I actually think it's a more effective slice of funk than similar experiments such as "Suck On The Jugular" or "Might As Well Get Juiced". If "Lover's Plea" is Keith after listening to a lot of Otis Redding,

QuoteLorenz At first I thought there were no fillers, I now feel like 3-4 songs could've been left out: the simple, sketch like Blues opener, the repetitive funk song that doesn't really go anywhere, the by-the-books blues rocker - indeed, 2 songs from the leaked CD are actually bonus tracks. I thought the official tracklisting was pretty clear about all 15 tracks being included on bo

QuoteRocky Dijon 4.) “Robbed Blind” is the one acoustic number here that doesn’t seem evocative of another Keith number. To me this one evokes Toronto-era Keith with traces of "Sing Me Back Home" in the verses. It's an early contender for my favorite track and I love the subject matter of the lyrics: A junkie who's had his stash ripped off, complete with the repeated line,

QuoteRocky Dijon If memory serves, the L.A. Times article is where we first heard "Ever-Changing World" mentioned along with "Thief in the Night." "Ever-Changing World" was one of the first titles I remember seeing listed for BTB, but it was part of a small blurb in Rolling Stone magazine. According to the IORR news section, it looks like it would've been in
