QuoteHairball The first time I saw the Who was in 1980 at the L.A. Sports Arena where I had seen Pink Floyd perform The Wall twice just a few months earlier. And somewhere in between those shows I saw the Clash at the Santa Monica Civic - it was an incredible year. And then the following year first time seeing the Stones... The Who performances at both Desert Trip weekends were nearly as goo

I thought the orchestra was the best part last time, and the band-only segment was a bit tepid. On the other hand, the 2016 Hits50 tour was way more rocking and better overall. When the orchestra is in sync properly with the band, stuff like 'Overture' can be glorious (the Vancouver show I saw was considered one of the best of the tour, and Eddie Vedder showing up didn't hurt,

By letting 'fans' vote, it's become a popularity contest, and not artists deserving honor for making a lasting influential impact on music. Sure, the more popular a band is, (ie. the more 'hits' they've had) the wider their potential reach of influence, but bands like The New York Dolls, although not chart toppers, had a huge influence on other bands like The Sex Pi

Saw Karl Denson and his band Tiny Universe with special guest Bernard Fowler play a night of Bowie tunes Friday in Seattle. With added backup singers, the band played a selection mostly from Bowie's mid 70's funk/soul period (with plenty of sax of course), but also delved into some rocking Ziggy-era material. Bernard and Karl shared vocal duties, and band members didn't shy away fr

Stones saxophonist Karl Denson postponed his bay area shows this weekend after coming down with covid. Says next weekend shows in the PNW are still on...for now. Some shows will be a tribute to David Bowie, featuring Bernard Fowler on vocals.

I think they got plain sick of playing it and used the whole cancel culture thing as an excuse. If they bow that easily to pressure, then maybe a petition should be started to get rid of all the un-pc warhorses. Could end up with a seriously revamped setlist.

Yes the 2015 NY/POTR tour was the best thing Neil did since the 1991 "Ragged Glory" tour. Yeah the tour with POTR was brilliant. I caught 2 shows on the tour and there’s a was something special happening ea

Decent album. Kinda low-key stuff. Not really CH material. Sounds like a slightly weary old hippie / folkie stringing his words to music with a few nice hooks. It's debatable if there's really a truly 'bad' NY album. There's definitely badly produced ones (Landing on Water is at the top of that list), but underneath, the songs are usually quality.

I remember at Radiohead in 2008 I was on the 'T' rail about halfway to the soundboard and was talking to someone next to me, and all of a sudden there was a crowd surge and they got pushed forward and dissappeared while I held on like crazy to the inside rail. (a pity since they smuggled in some booze and were prepared to share it).It settled fairly quickly but that was the last time I

Check out Robbie Krieger's new book 'Set The Night On Fire' (Ray already used 'Light My Fire' for his book title). He dispels many of the myths about Jim and the band - many of which were propagated by Ray, as well as Oliver Stone in that movie. The timeline jumps around, but it paints a picture and offers plenty of juicy tidbits of the 60's rock and roll scene an
