Mccparty, yes many thoughts... I should firstly say that I am a long time Genesis distributor (12 years) but like to think I have a balanced view as I am also a hard core collector! Many of their titles simply wouldn't have enough mass market appeal is reason number one. Admittedly there are some that do and I believe Exile is one of those. It is a classic because it is about an even

What happend to thread of the year 2008! (at least it was for me) Let's get the party started.... Firstly a killer rare Japanese promo CD for "Take it so Hard". Then some fun paper stuff.... some backstage signs. My favourites are definately "No Security" ones as the whole yellow and black tape design echos the forbidden mystical nature of the backstage

The original retail prices were £250 for a standard and £375 for a deluxe. The deluxe copies are full leather bound and much more limited with just 260 copies and also came with a Tarle signed print of Keith. While Exile stands out among the Genesis Rolling Stones titles these very strong aftermarket prices are not unheard of among there range. Recently despite never having done a Weller boo

Indeed it is a double LP. Beautiful photo inner sleeves from Anton Corbijn's shoot at the Paradiso, Amsterdam. I am working on getting the below copy signed so I have actually openned it but at least that means you can get to see the insides :-) Alas only 1 down with 3 to go on the signature front. I have a real affection for this album because it was the one that really got me into

Kent asked "How did you ever get a hold of all those versions?" Matt replies "By traveling to record fairs and stores across Europe and America, by constantly trading with other collectors and by trawling the internet. Collecting is an addiction". Kent asked "You have duplicates for selling or something?" Matt replies "trading is the best way I have fo

JKF, The "Collector's Edition" CD in the Jewel case format came packaged in a numbered and limited edition boxed set of 14CD's as pictured below. The same CD was also released as the "Collectibles" CD in the Flashpoint + Collectibles leatherette packaging (sealed and open copy pictured below). Other interesting official Flashpoint packaging was the UK copy that

Odean73, I meant I would post a scan here (as in upload one like the posters above so people can see it). I don't disagree with the concept of reproductions as an affordable solution as long as they are honestly marked and sold, what I can't stand is fakes where people try to sell reproduction items as original. I only collect and trade original items so would rather you just buy a

I have an original 1965 Birmingham Odean handbill which I can post a scan of soon. There are many cheap repros of this around so please beware! I haven't ever seen a Birmingham 73 poster or handbill if anyone has one I would love to see it. In the early 60's Stones posters were in general just text based moving to simple band images and text in the mid and late sixties. At the sta

Pro shot of the Shepherds Bush "Not For Beginners" gig has been released on a DVD called "Far East Man". I don't believe Dublin or the CC Club were professionally shot. The Drury Lane gig was pro shot but it is unlikely ever to be released. A real shame is it was a great show.

I agree with a lot of the thoughts here. Of the "Not for Beginners" tour the Dublin gig was by far the best (and the longest). More recently though Ronnie did a cracking job of the Drury Lane gig. A pro shot DVD does exist of the Drury Lane gig but alas it is unlikely to ever be released. While the addition of guests makes for an interesting night it also complicates potential rel

Great find Andreas! I just love this image and have it in both promo poster and Berlin concert poster format but I have never seen it in a square format like this! Amazing. I have UK, US, German, Japanese, and Indonesian pressings of the album with a variations of each but I have never found one with the puppet poster like this! Awesome, I want one :-) Here is the promo poster. The Berlin

Tim, I am afraid I am a beginner in the vinyl or bootleg debate. I don't have large collections of either my focus being memorabilia. I am watching and learning though :-) refestone this is a public forum so I would ask you to consider what you write and its factual correctness before you write it. As many here will testify I do not rip people off and your comment on my prices is simpl

Whitem8, you made a VERY wise choice going for the Station to Station deluxe. Bowie signed every copy of "Moonage Daydream" the first Genesis Bowie book where as with Station to Station he signed only the deluxe copies. Not to mention the photo you get and the much nicer packaging and increased rarity. They Station to Station deluxe literally doubled in price overnight as they were sol

Harm, yes my table didn't work in the post above. I have just edited it so it works now.... The original retail of the Wood On Canvas deluxe was £750 although relatively few were made available to the public as it was principally a friends and family edition. This was amazing value given there are only 100 of them, it is full leather and it comes with a piece of Ronnie signed art and a

whitem8, Below I have summerised the status of all the Genesis Stones titles. You are right about the Commander. The book is beatiful in a totally gorgeous box with the reproduction backstage passes and room keys. The price point at $450 is a lot less than the Standard "Let It Bleed" at $650 and TOTA really feels like a very special book. The deluxe was something else though orig

Palace, I didn't take it the wrong way so don't worry! I always appreciate typing can read very differently to how it is meant when written. There is far too much stuff to collect so I recently quit my job and started my own business! Not necessarily the best timing but I was never going to get rich working for someone else. Time will tell if I breaks or makes me! I don'

Palace Revolution 2000 said "Matt, are you like a millionaire?" Alas no. I just enjoy collecting and have acquired an extensive knowledge of stuff as well as a fairly impressive collection (for 10 years starting with nothing and no money). It is a question of priorities, hard work, networking and a sprinkling of luck. My very small share portfolio has taken a bath like everyone

Exile was only ever signed by Mick Taylor or not. Each copy was signed by Tarle and the book sold out in just a few weeks. Let It Bleed has been a year already. There are several differences in the two projects. Most of Ethans photos while fantastic have been seen before. Sure there are loads of images that haven't but the one taken one second before or after has been. The standard cop

This album is in beautiful condition. I am a bit of a numbers freak, some collectors are and some collectors aren't. I turned down the White Album No.7 for about $8,000 but it wasn't in anywhere near as beautiful condition. I am still looking for Love Is Strong, You Got Me Rocking, Wild Horses and Anybody Seen My Baby UK 7" number 1's. Please let me know if you have one or

As with everything condition is very important. A mint set of coins (excuse the pun) is worth c.$1,500 and a mint phone (in the box) is worth c.$500. Two of the rarest items of newer merchandise. I think about 10,000 coin sets were made. They all have a numbered certificate and the highest number I have seen is 5,000 and something so 10,000 seam about right. I am sure there are not this

mcparty, indeed you are correct. There were two different versions of Exile. What is know as the regular edition numbers 261 to 2,000 and the deluxe edition which was numbers 1 to 260. This latest copy sold was indeed a deluxe copy. The deluxe copy has several advantages over a standard copy. Quite appart from the increased specification it is obviously nearly 7 times rarer! The deluxe on
