It seems in my experience that they often don't know if they can just do a stent or if they have to replace the valve until they get in there at least this happened to someone in my family several years ago, so possibly he doesn't know yet how extensive it could be. but it is Very tiring afterwards. he shouldn't think about straining himself anytime after surgery for some time.
