I think for a lot of people (including me), this was our JFK moment. Like EddieByword I too was a student at the time and woke up to the news. Unlike Eddie, I didn't smoke any weed and I didn't get a shag! For the last 40 years the 8th December has been a significant date in my calendar and no doubt will continue to be.

It is not Christmas until I have heard Slade for the 4000th time (which is not enough!). Their record must be played on Christmas Day in my house.

I remember seeing a cartoon in the newspaper about this incident at the time which went something like Keith - Mick, I've cut my finger, what should I do? Mick - Let it bleed, man! Probably not doing this justice but very Stella Street.

Quotefloodonthepage Is this what the CD sounds like? (This was posted November 12 on YouTube) Seems like this is what people are describing... That is pretty bad and it sounds to me like it has been deliberately edited that way. Given that the release can only be aimed at fans who probably own the original album anyway this is pretty appalling. Where is the quality control? I am stick

QuoteLadykiller Status Quo is really one of the best live bands in the world. I saw them 4x and in the Frantic Four lineup they were absolute killer (one of the best shows, I saw in this century). I saw them (Frantic Four) in 2013 and 2014 and I would echo your comments. I only went in 2013 out of curiosity (I had last seen the FF in 1979!) as I had drifted away from them. I was absolutely bl

I saw NY on the solo leg of the Greendale tour at Hammersmith Odeon. 10 unreleased songs straight off with the story of Greendale explained in between. Totally brilliant! A very brave move by someone 35 years into his solo career. He had done the same thing 30 years previously on the Tonight's The Night tour in 1973. When the Greendale album came out a few months later I was a bit disap

QuoteKevinM @Valeswood Another impressive list. I love Peter Gabriel's 1st 4-5 solo LP's & Lamb Lies Down (Genesis yrs), but I could never get into the PG era of Genesis, despite trying. I bought all the LP's, used & in Mint condition for $20, was so excited, got home, played them (sampled each song) & could barely get through 1 complete song per LP, yet I love P

I saw them once in 1981 (Sonic Attack Tour) but I cannot remember much about it (isn't that the way it should be with Hawkwind?) apart from they played Brainstorm. I was sure they played Silver Machine and Levitation but not according to Setlist FM.

QuoteKevinM John Lennon - Just Because + Reprise This song has as much soul & beauty as any solo song he's ever done (imho) & gets me every time. I like this version even better than the original Lloyd Price vs., which I also love. QuoteLeonidP The murderer, btw, just had released some statement recently how he regrets it and feels he should never be let out of prison -- sort of a reverse psychological attempt to get out (or so it seems to me), hoping the parole board commission will see this as a sign of true sorrow and acceptance of self blame. It's a bit late for regrets and I agree that he should rot.

I have always loved David Bowie's Young Americans album. This is often overlooked when his great run of 1970's albums are talked about. Dismissed as 'plastic soul' at the time of release, I would argue that the songs Win and Somebody Up There Likes Me are up there with his best. Strangely, I have never been a fan of his first US No.1, Fame.
