My alltime favorite Keith shirt is the one that looks like Warhol did it, four times his face in different colours on an white shirt. From the Steel Wheels Tour, I guess. Anybody got one left? XL? I want one, desperately... cheers, fillmore

QuoteFather Ted Is there any other living, ex member of a well-known band who still generates such passion? Maybe David Lee Roth - though I also really dig the Red Rocker! So, maybe both of them...? Who is the singer for Van Halen now? And for how long?

I also got these recordings from the Mule-homepage. They include other songs as well, not only Stones covers. Gimme Shelter is there. I also find the whole stuff pretty un-stonesy (...). Not bad, very different, more "beer and hard booze" than "Mary Jane", so to speak. Though I really like most GM music, I wouldn´t necessarily recommend those Stones sessions. Ok, Halloween mea

There is a german guitar builder who offers Micawber-copies. Strangely enough, they don´t have the "original" Keith-style bridge. I had my guitar "upgraded" with a brass bridge that has artificially been made look older (no, I am not a native speaker :-)) . I had to call / mail to him, he is friendly and deliveres at decent speed. The bridge plays and sounds nice, just a bit c

Quotedcba They were OK but basically they recycled the 70's rock/boogie formula and sold it to people who weren't there in the 70's. Theyreally worked hard at achieieving that retro sound. I remember them saying in 92 "yeah we recorded with an old board and old mikes. even the tape was old". Recyclers? Yes. Innovators? No. Therefore I doubt they were that important.

I would like to apologize for getting the quoting wrong (a bit like my English, ), I´m sorry! It was of course DandelionPowderman who brought "Kravitz" in. And yes, sure, that might have been one of the better Lenny 45s, I only thought not only him could come up with a cool hookline with a beat under it. No offense! Fillmore

Quoteelectricmud Good stuff! Was Kravitz involved here? It sounds like something he could have written - in his best moments, that is. Damn sure I like many of Mr Kravitz´ older recordings (and live shows!), but he is not to blame for everything that is funky / sexy. Just ask Prince , lol. Mr Denson sounds like a brick straight outta the Tower of Power to me, like it A LOT! Have a grea

It would make me quite sad if the brothers called it quits. Didn´t mind the changes, love Ed Hawrysh aka Eddie Harsh, loved Johnny Colt and Gorman, really liked the original guitar player who was reanimated for the live shows that were recorded and released on record and video. Absolutely love Chris Robinson, esp. on stage. His first solo record was better than the second one in my opinion, but &

I don´t think any tattoo can solve your midlife crisis, it only shows you might have one. What would change? You were OOC for an hour? As a solution to a problem you have discussed / mentioned on a music fan board? Do you expect the lips and tongue to talk to you when you´re desperate ("crisis" )? Don´t do it! Form a band instead, paint, work, live, be gentle or be mean! Create ar

QuoteNikkei as soon as the hardcore fan of wealth and taste starts to accept how Keef looks, that's precisely the time for him to move on. Very good call in my opinion! If I may explain myself ("please allow me…" ): I don´t think I look like and I don´t feel like I´m somehow closer to Mr Richards than any other guy just for wearing a ring that looks like his. It´s just a plain

QuoteJohnnyBGoode Does anyone else who has a skull ring get an odd reaction from people? Well, it depends on how you define "odd". Some feel odd if they´re not spoken to for something they wear (excuse my english, please!). Those few people who addressed me for wearing that ring got to hear what Mr Richards once said about that ring: "look, under that mask of skin we all look the

QuoteSpud I have a suspicion that Keith likes the response of an electric guitar to "feel" more like an acoustic. That goes in the same direction as the interview I once read, where he said that at home he doesn´t play electric at all. Only "western" or "spanish"-style guitars. Must have been in Guitar Player or Guitar World a couple of years ago. Also Malcolm

QuoteJohnnyBGoode Just got a skull ring that is similar to the one Keith wears. Should be here tomorrow. Wonder what reactions I will get? The original one was made by Courts & Hackett. They still offer that design. I´ve had mine for a couple of years and it still makes some people kinda nervous, especially ´cause I don´t look like a "rocker" or a "1%-biker". For a good

Four shows for me, PinkPop - Berlin - Vienna - Werchter. All of ´em amazing, PinkPop - a festival in the sun (in the Netherlands!!!), surrounded by cool friendly people, protected from the cozy warm sound of John Mayer, finally the Hammer of the Gods strikes - JJF. A gig to die for. Berlin - the greatest venue I have ever seen, FOS, warm, weird audience-mix, highlight: Waiting On A Friend.

Quotegwen Apparently this one -pickup model was a custom order only owned by Keith, Ronnie & Pete Townsend. Can't remember where I read that, however. Not sure it's even true! Which makes this guitar about as mystic as the "Gibson Moderne" from 1958 . Imagine: Ronnie moving out of The Wick, Pete just moving in - they meet in the doorway, both carrying their Custom L5s.

Quotesodapop 1976 Knebworth---Lynryd Skynrd kicked the shit out of the Stones---who by then already were coked out jokes. Skynryd had chemistry - but also were good musicians, much tighter band. Thanks for mentioning, essential info in this thread - NOT! Skynyrds Rossington got his Signature LP (and it´s f**king amazing), but here´s about Ronnie´s Gibson. At least the title says so... Che

QuoteAthena Love their single Jamie Got A Gun, don't know what album it's on or the year. It´s from PUMP (around 1989), which I also like, esp. for The Other Side and What It Takes. Among hardliners probably branded as "MTV-stuff". But MTV aired the videos for Let The Music Do The Talking and Chip Away At The Stone as well, so who cares... Cheers, Fillmore

So, a couple of days later, back from Belgium and back on the workplace, German writer an comedian Karl Valentin (1882 – 1942) comes to my mind: „It has all been said – just not yet by everybody.“ So here´s my "Festival in Werchter": Up at 6 in the morning, coffee, off to airport, destination Bruxelles. Train to Leuven, bus to Werchter. I arrived while the Freebees were playing, liked

Are you sure it´s a reissue he´s playing live, and not an old one? The Sunburst Les Paul I saw first in London on 25/11/12 (he played 2/3 of the show with this guitar) is one of the few we don´t get info in the new "Stones Gear Book" about. It´s mentioned, but not described. But I also think, a relic ´55 Strat in two-tone sunburst or a Zemaitis would be even more likely to be related to

To me Adam Green of Saint Jude is highly underrated. Listen to Saint Jude´s "Diary of a Soul Fiend" CD and you´ll know what I mean. Passed away way too early (someone must have called…), but before that he stood on stage with Mr. Ronnie at the 100 Club in London. He sounded a bit Keith-ish, though… Cheers, Fillmore

Quotetioms Hi Fillmore, You read it very well. If your ticket is controlled on E bay and they do know the seller the ticket is on the blacklist. Ask the seller for confirmation and a copy of his identical pasport. That is what it is for the Belgium law. I once had a ticket bought on e bay and I was refused to go in. Lost money for the ticket.I was lucky the concert was in Belgium. But no g
