QuoteDandelionPowderman He's talk8ng about the song like it's brand new, saying it needs drums etc. He says: "...really need a drummer, we've always done it with drums, never did it sitting around" Which alludes to the song having been played often (always).

QuoteDandelionPowderman Put on any 1977 interview and his voice is pretty husky. This is the Never Stop riff that he is playing. I haven't heard him play that after the 70s. And the track is on a boot called 'Pathe Marconi Alternate versions 1977/1978'. But have you heard Keith playing it in normal tuning since the 70s ? Really nice piece, he had it all down in 1977 then, nic

QuoteDandelionPowderman 1977. There are a couple of passages in there where it sounds like two guitars, don't you think? 1977, wow, with Keith's husky slurry voice, I'd have put it in the 90s or later. His playing is a bit sloppy, which I dont recall <1990. Also the patterns he plays on the higher strings resembles stuff he did in later times. Don't think it sounds lik

QuoteCooltoplady Does Buddy Guy have the worst tone live of everyone? Yes Incredibly trebly harsh and brittle. Sorry. Love the man but wow it’s so bad Yes, he absolutely has issues with his guitar tone, usually I can't even begin to appreciate his playing due to that.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and was jointly produced by Lauryn. Missy Elliott also produced with success. But what is a producer excactly, what do they do or decide ?

Rather ordinary? I'd call it rather special by Stones standards, not a Top10 hit, but sweet guitars and drums making for a funky rocking reggae track, have they done anything else like it ? Pretty Beat Up maybe, also with 'inspiration' by Ronnie.

QuoteDandelionPowderman U2 and Talking Heads didn't really have that "80s pop sound", did they? Less synths, but they are still a kind of new wave pop. The playing style of their songs and what makes them tick is different from classic Stones. A stripped down sound with more emptyness/space, like Back to Zero. Less reverb?

Don't know if Steve was Mick's choice, but it was strange to use him as a producer for a rock n roll band. His CV is filled with the typical early 80's pop sound that seems innappropriate for the Stones. Maybe due to Undercover's relative lack of success they persued a modern producer that could turn the songs towards U2, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel.

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteHairball Quotefloodonthepage I'd say the only Stones cover that I wouldn't be proud of (if I were Mick or Keith) is "My Girl". Otherwise I like what they've done with the covers they've done over the years. Yes, and I'd add their meaningless cover of Under the Boardwalk also - they add nothing to it, and certainly didn't make

That they are touring in itself shows the core group are doing it for other reasons than personal financial gain...they should be secured already. Why not reach out to the most fans and have more funds to spend on the entourage for performing on a stage. Is being in the pit so different/worse than a club show?

QuoteHairball the arena scenario would change things dramatically for a variety of reasons Can't believe they would play for less fans and money. A lose lose situation. For old times sake? Personally, I can enjoy a Stadium shows just as much.

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteTumblinDice76 But what is the draw for the US in 2023. More of the same? Otherwise, yes, no reason to go see the same show again unless... Main reason to see them again is because every show is different. How much setlist variation was there during the '72-'73 tours, yet all the shows have their own magic, like today. The Sixty tour has been surpassing my

Great stuff from Lem, I don't think MT humiliated anyone but himself with his showman style. I'd like to believe if he was given a full role and not just 2 songs per night that he would have settled down with Chuck and the backing crew in a way that was more laid back and suitable. Letting him have a sniff at the TD or YCAGWYW solos would have been fitting too. Appearing on Satisfaction

Yes, what a fantastic team they are, I feel Ronnie can make Keith shine brighter than Waddy. Steve seems to have kickstarted Keith to dominate the songs more. Lets not forget how much their families mean to them. The day we accept whatever they serve is the day they retire and we feel old, They've been doing so well in 2022 that there must be more in the barrel, congratulations.

Ronnie and Keith are my heroes, but why would I not tell you how I feel about their performances on IORR ? Down the pub people wouldnt give a damn or even know what I was going on about. If you cant take the criticism, then it must be because its hitting a truth for you. I will blame the leadership for not delegating the solo tasks to the appropriate finishers or asking the players to change t

QuotekeefriffhardsWhy wimp out, stick to your guns skytrench, you'll be a man my son . Damn right...the Vienna SMU/TD solos had a semblance of structure and recognizable licks, but I have heard Ronnie do alot better. Testify linked to the 2013 Hyde Park version, which was ok. I often come back to this one from the 1994 MTV Music Awards as a benchmark SMU solo

QuoteTestifyAre you really claiming this solo is garbage? No, that one is ok, I'll give it a C+. Ronnie's TD & SMU solos for the Vienna show were better than Brussels, but still lacking. Maybe the B-bender has lived out it's welcome on TD. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate lots of Ronnie's playing on this tour. Love his parts on LSTNT - sounds great chugging wit
