Quotez Can you mail me the melody of Substantial Damage, matxil? My copy arrived without one. Admittedly "melody" might not be the best choice of words. "The combination of rhytmic chanting of words with the instrumental harmonies" then? Oh well, I meant to say, I like it.

Maybe next week, next month, next year I will feel differently, but for the last 2 weeks, my feeling about this album is something like this: 1. Crosseyed Heart ==> FUNNY 2. Heartstopper ==> GOOD 3. Amnesia ==> GOOD 4. Robbed Blind ==> VERY GOOD 5. Trouble ==> GOOD 6. Love Overdue ==> OKAY 7. Nothing On Me ==> OKAY 8. Suspicious ==> HIGHLIGHT 9. Blues in the Mor

Quotestones2000 Quotematxil Yes, although I haven't seen all of them and mainly like the new 21st century version of Dr. Who. I thought Christopher Ecclestone was a brilliant doctor and I also liked David Tennant. My favourite episode (and I actually think the best SF television ever, combining both the most clever use of time-travel-paradox and low-budget-scary-alien) was of course Blink.

Well, it was better than Dirty Work, and actually not bad compared to what came after it, but my overall reaction to this album was then and is still now: mwah *shrug* Sad Sad Sad: Filler Mixed Emotions: Mediocre, but okay Terrifying: Nice try, but mediocre Hold On to Your Hat: Nothing Hearts for Sale: Nothing Blinded By Love: This is the sort of latter-days Stones ballads as su

"Dirty Work". After hearing "One Hit" I expected the album to be great, which turned out to be a very embarrassing experience. The first time I put the album on, I stopped after listening to "Hold Back". And Mick with "Let's Work", I first heard it on MTV at the house of a friend and I begged him to switch channels. I'm sure there have been m

QuoteHarlem Shuffler I couldn't believe how weak "Trouble" sounded on first hearing but it did grow on me from being poor to mediocre. If that's one of the stand-out tracks, I dread to think what some of the songs on this album are like. I don't think a lot of people see "Trouble" as the stand-out track. Most would agree there are much better tracks on Cross

QuoteTonyMo I'm too old to buy a CD. Why bother when I can listen on YT or Spotify? IMO a lot of people feel the same way. - Because it sounds better on my hifi system - Because I don't like to have my computer switched on at home - Because the YouTube playlist includes some other clips after Lover's Plea which are of no interest to me - Because internet doesn't always wo

Quote24FPS QuoteHMS The Stones-version of LARS is excellent, as good as it can get. Never thought they could handle this wordy Bob-tune as good as they did. Fine playing, fine singing, absolutley nothing to complain about. Who thinks their version is a "joke" is very hard to please indeed... I'm only judging the Stones by their own standards. They were once THE GREATEST COVER BAN

QuoteDoxa I think there is a crucial difference between CROSSEYED HEART and Keith's earlier albums. If anyone, like me, finds MAIN OFFENDER and to and extent TALK IS CHEAP a bit boring, and more like a showcase of a 'riffmaster' showing what is famous for, by the expense of good song-writing, the new album is more done from a song-writers point of view. The songs sound more like

From the Stones, I would mention "the big four" + Aftermath + "the big two" (SG, TY), but I am not really sure all songs are really masterpieces. Hard to define that word, I find. However, I think the following is an album full of masterpieces: Lou Reed - Berlin (It's actually the only album of Lou Reed I really like very much) Also: Nick Cave - No More Shal

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotematxil QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotematxil I think the sales are impressive, and totally deserved. After two weeks of listening, I still love this album. Does anybody know whether there will be a release of a single + videoclip from this album soon? (It would be hard to pick a song for it. Lover's Plea? Illusion?) QuoteGreen Lady You're being invited to allow it to grow because for a lot of people it does. Me among many. But if your initial reaction was YEUCH rather than MEH, and you're sure nothing is going to change that, then don't waste your time. The ones still holding out on me are Nothing On Me and Something For Nothing. The rest I'm happy with, and getting happier, and t

QuoteDoxa Al this talk of 'this track has grown on me now' and 'give time time for it, it will grow on you'... Why is that the ratings supposed to go better as the time goes by? Like every record is like EXILE ON MAIN STREET? If the net had been available in 1986, most likely I would praised DIRTY WORK as many people here seem to praise CROSSEYED HEART. Seemingly I don'

Quotekeefriffhards Its strange, lots of you are finding similarities in this album to Keiths other solo albums and songs Keith has done on Stones albums I honestly cant hear any similarities Some artists make albums that sound like a continuation of the same song all the way through like Green Day for an example I mean its vary varied on this album and very different to previous solo album

QuoteMel Belli Yup. I thought the same thing, but in a different spot. The "what have you done to me?" lick is exactly the same (note-wise and rhythmically) as "so empty without you." Every ballad on this record uses the same basic color palette: Aminor, C, G, E, and F. I don't mean this as a knock. I like every single one of those tunes. Yes, you're right.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotematxil Yes, the "Suspicious" - TPIE similarity is more vague. And I actually like Suspicious very much, and TPIE not at all. But the lines "What have you done to me" in Suspicious(the 3th line of each verse), sounds to my ears a bit like "and make yourself at home" or "you hate to be alone" of TPIE (each 3th line of each ve

QuoteMathijs I have to say it again. Lover's Plea is among the best work of the Stone and Richards. It's utterly fantastic. Mathijs Yes. My favourites till now are "Suspicious", "Illusion", "Just A Gift", "Goodnight Irene" and "Lover's Plea". So, the ballads, one way or other. The rockers I find okay, but sound less specia

Well, after only 4 or 5 times listening to the album, it's too early yet to know song-by-song what I think of it. In my experience, albums have to grow on me, and especially Stones and/or Keith Richards albums. It took me years to appreciate Main Offender and now I almost like it better than Talk Is Cheap... So, I won't comment much, especially not about the rockers (only shortly men

QuoteOlly First further clue: Simplified clue: To my mind the weather was confused... something I select and, in a single word, announce a challenge. Second further clue: The 'weather' in the clue is wintry. "snow" confused could be "wons", which sounds like "once". Or it could be "nows".

Probably completely off the mark, but "confused weather", you could interprete as rain + sun = rainbow... I don't see how "She's a Rainbow" or "Blinded By Rainbows" could fit, but maybe there are some song-lines with rainbows in it?
