The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been a bad standing joke for years. Great bands were excluded(ignored)for way to long. The institution lost credibility long ago in my eyes. Basically, bands that hung around long enough, get in now. What criteria gets bands/musicians in? What keeps them out? Of course, there is no accounting for "good" or "bad" taste in music, which is a f

Decent read about Charlie and his life. Lots of interesting tidbits, and numerous colorful anecdotes dot this history of the much beloved "Wembley Whammer". For serious Stones fans it's certainly worth reading.

Good post. It has been long debated about which recording is the finest quality. The first time I head this was back in the 70's via Saturated Recordworks out of Australia and titled The Rolling Stones A Tour De Force 2S701. I did a back to back listen tonight and this release beats the Royal Sound cut by a wide margin. All I know is the sound is damn good. Are the track lists the same, no.

My copy arrived yesterday, and the book shows amazing attention to detail. Just started getting into it. Bravo Erwin on what certainly appears to be a job well done!

If the mono box set is to be repressed on colored or clear vinyl so be it. It's all rumor at this point, although Amazon was taking orders for awhile earlier this year. I purchased this box set of records for the music. Whether the price goes up or down is of no concern to me. If more people get access to this fantastic sounding music I think it is a good thing assuming the quality would b

I was at the Chicago Park West concert Saturday night. It's a good band. Campbell adjusting well into front man role. His guitar artistry is top notch. Loved his rendition of Little Queenie as an encore! Knobs did less Heartbreakers material than I expected. Great version of Southern Accent I think found Campbell choked up with emotion. Had to be hard losing his buddy. Nearing 69 years of ag

I think it is important to remember that while Stevie Wonders band was indeed a great opening act, in no way could they touch what the Stones brought on that tour. I was 19 at that time and saw 2 shows. Chicago and Denver. The Rolling Stones were a seriously powerful band on the 1972 tour.

I'm a few days late as it relates to this post, but thanks Sighunt for your gargantuan efforts. A project along the lines you have proposed has been too long in coming. Should it come to fruition there will be thousands of overjoyed Stones fans gladly willing to purchase a high quality boxed set the of the MSG 69 concerts, especially if a well mastered high SQ DVD were included. I support th

Very cool to be able to watch such a great rendition of Sympathy from that tour. Killer version. The band is really tight and those guitars just soar. The Stones had found their groove. Everything just flows. I can never get too much of the 69 tour. The Stones indeed certainly did get it on in Detroit! More please?

QuoteRollingFreak I've never actually thought about it that way, but yeah it really is like the Kinks Beggars Banquet. Its an absolutely phenomenal album. I think I rediscovered it when they put out a deluxe box version of it a few years ago. But 20th Century Man is a great rocker, one I rediscovered when I saw Ray Davies like 15 years ago and he did a cracking version of it. He also did a g

QuoteNikkei "I don't blame Yoko for any of this... ...never mind the Yoko screeching bits" so what is it then? Nikkei: As I mentioned, John was the person that enabled Yoko not only to be there, but to do as she chose to do. This doesn't mean I liked anything about her shrieking at all. My feeling is that if John had said no, it would likely not have gone down the way it di

The Get Back 3 part documentary is essential viewing for any serious fan of The Beatles. All three parts need to be watched to understand how the project, people involved, and the songs evolved into a final product. We were able to see songs created more or less from beginning to end. The band searching to develop the music towards a conclusion. While I thought part one was a little bit plodd

As a Doors fan from the early years on I was so excited to see them play at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago Feb of 1970. This was on the heels of seeing the Stones in November for the first time which was for me at 16 the pinnacle of all concerts I had been able to go to. The Doors were touring off the Morrison Hotel album I recall, and the setlist had some great songs off that record. Keep in

QuoteChrisM42 His collecting was very much in line with his profession (archeologist). One way he would find the rare vinyl variations was by canvassing thrift stores. If you have ever tried doing this, it takes a great amount diligence because there are lots of dead ends before getting to the rare find. He used to say “this one is rare as ‘hens teeth’”. I had never heard that before and that was

Quotestonesstein I bought my first version of this back in the Summer of (I think) 1978, A Bedspring Symphony (and a Box Lunch and a Meat Whistle), TAKRL 1941 with the black label and yellow/red mimeograph insert from Billy Arnold's Purple Prism Record Shop on King Street in Charleston, SC. Seems like next year, I also bought East & West on Excitable Records which turned out to be a str

Sarah could belt out vocals with the best of them. She was a real asset for the Keith and the Winos during both of Keith's tours, as well as the in the studio for the recording of TIC and MO. Another punch in the gut for Keith, losing Charlie first, and now Sarah so shortly after. RIP Sarah.
