QuoteMr.D I was there all the way from central Florida! Van Halen played half an hour, don't remember Roth playing any guitar...the Doobie Brothers were the Michael McDonald version, they sound like Steely Dan then to me! The Stones were hours late, they even had a Russian acrobat team to take up some time, the Stones finally came on at 11:30 and played till 1:45. At the time that was the la

This argument that the band is too old to play these songs like on Ya Ya's is ridiculous. Unless they're irreparably brain damaged they could easily replicate these versions. Any reasonably competent guitar band could. It's apparent that they simply choose not to play them like that any more and prefer something closer to the recorded versions, except for the interminably over-exte

Quoteshattered Was thinking about this last week and we talked about this gem in 2004: Does anyone remember if Roth play that guitar shaped like an ice cream bar for Ice Cream Man? I don't remember anything. I didn't even know Van Halen played. I think we got there during the Doobies set. Also wasn't Ice Cream Man a solo Roth song many years later? I didn't know Roth ev

I was there but I don't remember much about it except is was a HUGE venue and there was so much smoke you could barely see the stage. I think it set some sort of attendance record at the time.

All good comments. I can see now where The Boys have gone back to close approximations of the original recorded versions on a lot of their staple tunes and I can understand why. They can afford the additional players and choir's etc. now to pull that off when they couldn't in the past when, at most, they had one piano player and one saxophonist. I guess I just prefer that "stripped

Quoteshortfatfanny Good idea...kick Ronnie,Darryl and the rest of the stage musicians out, take Bill and Taylor back...forget the last 49 years and case closed. Easy...isn't it ? Did I or you miss something ? Yeah. You definitely missed it. I'm not suggesting changing out any key players. I'm talking about the arrangements, specifically the guitar parts. They perfected the liv

I was watching the Sweet Summer Sun / Hyde Park show the other day and it struck me how retarded a song like Sympathy For The Devil has become over the years compared to the amazing versions heard on Get Yer Ya Yas Out. Why don't they just play it like that? 2 guitars, drums and bass. And the guitar lines they play in these current versions are just childish and un-musical compared to the pe

Another show , another $10,000,000. You gotta love it. Ronnie and Mick's dye jobs are also absolutely first rate. I wish I knew their stylist. Anyway, what's the current consensus for best bathroom break song. Personally I vote for "Ride Em On Down". Set List: "Sympathy for the Devil" "Tumbling Dice" "Paint It Black" "Just Your

QuoteKurt First Irving Azoff recreates 'Steely Dan' then the 'Eagles' and now 'Fleetwood Mac' for $$$. Brands...not Bands. That's funny. All too true. I'm guessing that the younger attendees don't care about the line-up details. They just want to see (insert band name here) while it's still possible and hear "those" songs done

Its definitely worth a shot. Should they do primarily Beatles songs live or make a new record of original material? Paul could produce it and even provide a few new songs for them. ( and I'm for Julian not Sean )

Quoterev20 QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoterev20 in terms of being my favorite, it is #1. it even broke the 6-year spell that rihanna held over me If B&L lead your thoughts away from R, be it just for a moment, I'd say «mission accomplished» Can you believe this? I just mention her name and she immediately tweets her new interview where it says that her upcoming album will be al

On the subject of Neil's periods of "lazy song-writing" I couldn't agree more. I recently listened to On The Beach and Zuma. To call some of these songs "filler" would be too kind. There's some real shite in there. I could write better lyrics than some of that crap. Ragged Glory and some of his early material does it for me.

How many times can this ludicrously unrealistic show jump the shark. Oh yeah, EVERY single time. ( I'll still watch the next season just to cheer when Carrie finally gets smoked.)

Quotelem motlow I was listening to Certain Chicks the other day and it struck me how the Stones sound from then was such an amalgam of blues ,country, reggae and rock and roll and they seemed to be just jamming for hours. Mick and Keith doing what sounds like a beautiful late night drunken, somewhat off-key version of an old Hank song,Keith throwing a reggae riff into the middle of a fast rocker

I absolutely love Mr. Ferry ... but sadly his vocal strength and abilities have diminished greatly with age. His band and back-up are quite good though.

Quoteoldschool QuoteRocky Dijon All true, but Stevie used to pay a personal assistant to blow coke up her ass. Can Buckingham and McVie claim that? I don't think so. The Gold Dust Woman has earned her keep. She had to pay someone to do that? Hell, back in the day I would have paid her for the privilege. Is this documented? Is there some sort of video on YouTube or something?

"Wait a min ....Why (or how) is asking for an album too much work for them at this stage...??" See the 156 pages above. "They tour every year don't they? Recording an album can be done much more at the pace and in locations they choose. Also it less exerting than a live gig." Really? A show is 2.5 hours. An new CD takes 5 - 10 years. The more I ponder it the more I think they should just put out one good new single every once in a while for digital download to keep everybody happy. Trying to put out an entire CD's worth of quality material is really asking too much from The Boys at this juncture in their career and it's way too much work for them to organize. And without a deadline for this supposed new CD it will b
