Loved Cimino. Deerhunter was, obviously, incredible even if it meanders aimlessly here and there. However he definitely went over the line in many ways with Heaven's Gate and sunk United Artists in the process. Oh well.....

Quotetomcasagranda He's a great songwriter. Some of them albums that sneaked past the radar, i.e from Borderlord onwards are underrated gems. Rescue Mission, written with Bobby Neuwirth, is a great song, so too Rock'n'roll Time, Risky Business, Mean Old Man, What About Me ?, Shipwrecked In The 80s, Nobody Loves Anybody Anymore. I could go on. Never heard of 'em

Never understood the appeal. A coupla good songs and a voice that makes Dylan sound like Pavarotti.

I find it incredulous that anyone would put in the time, effort and money to make a film about this. How big of an audience would they get? I actually doubt it will really get made. If it does it will be a very cheap production that will have a very limited theatrical release. And you're right, If it doesn't include the real music it won't interest me very much.

Quotekeefriff99 Some of these stories are cracking me up. I agree. This is a fantastic thread. Great stories. My worst show was probably Santana some time in the early 2000's. He was in his "Ritmo Latino" phase. I am a big fan of his first 3 or 4 records and the only thing he did from those was Evil Ways. The rest of the show was almost unlistenable. He played the same lick on

QuoteHairball Quotebbeliko Man in case we needed even more confirmation the Mick is not human, look at how bad Axl Rose looks. Yeah he's looking a bit like Meatloaf... (not the singer, but an actual slab of meatloaf). That's @#$%& hilarious. Best post of the month.

Well....... MY source tells me that The Stones intend for this to be their last and greatest recording effort in the same the way that Abbey Road was for The Beatles. So... this should be pretty incredible.

I wouldn't call it sad. He was an incredibly successful and highly respected man in every aspect of his life. A real gentleman and humble as well. He lived to 90 years old. We should actually celebrate his life instead of mourning his death. Question : How was George Martin paid for his work with The Beatles? Was he salaried by the record company? Was he paid a negotiated fee per individu

I too was at the '78 show. I completely missed Van Halen ( I'd never even heard of them at that time ) I think I caught the last couple of tunes by The Doobies and I don't remember a damn thing about The Stones' show. I must have been Blasted

I guess it's official then : Eric Clapton declared "most boring guitarist ever" by overwhelming majority of IORR members. ( BV might want to change the title of this thread )

I predict that within the next 12 months all of the remaining Eagles (past and present) will get together with some special guests to put on one last farewell Eagles concert/memorial to Glenn Frey. Probably in L.A. It will probably benefit one of Glenn's favorite causes/charities. Might even be a CCTV Pay Per View with resulting CD/DVD etc.

It will be interesting to see if this means the end of The Eagles as a performing band. He was the founder and integral vocalist and song-writer. I personally don't think they should try to keep playing shows. There's no point. However if Don Henley did want to keep things going I think the only replacement that would do Glenn justice would be Jackson Browne. He was like an un-official

The Thin White Duke has left for the next "station". Go easy bro. This got me pretty hard. I thought he would be around forever, but it doesn't work that way. I saw him at least 3 times, the first at The Tower Theatre in Philly doing the Diamond Dogs show as well as Pittsburgh for the Station to Station tour. Ziggy Stardust changed the way I listened to rock music. The produ

For great live standup comedy I like "The Comedy Cellar" near NYU. at least 3 shows a night but you have to call ahead for a reservation and pay a small entry when you get there. You'll see 5 or 6 top name comics per show. It's 2 doors away from the "Cafe Wha" where Hendrix used to play before he was "discovered" by Chas Chandler. The oldest (and best) pizza

You can't just go for simple tourism. You have to go with a group that "studies and/or visits places for educational or research purposes". It's kind of a scam. A little on line search and you will find lots of "services" that offer these "travel programs".

Quote24FPS Jeez. Is it that big a deal, for whatever reason? 26 years is a long f-ing time to be on any one gig. Maybe she's made enough dough that she can afford to do her own thing, finally. Were making such a big thing over something so insignificant to the overall history of the band. The people who REALLY mattered spent much shorter periods of time with them. Honestly, I see backup sing

The optimism (and naivete) in this thread is contagious. I suspect this new record will be as good as Exile On Main Street. I wonder what the name of the new CD will be? I'm thinking "Return To Main Street".

Absolutely love them. You can't say too much about that band. Knopfler is a genius. Too many incredible songs to list. I saw their Brothers In Arms tour (their last tour) and was absolutely floored. If you haven't seen the CD of this tour you will not be disappointed. What makes Knopler's guitar playing so good and so unique was that he played the electric guitar without a pick

That's funny. The medium of the music video is almost completely dead. When they were at their peak in the 80's everyone complained that it was debasing the integrity of the artists and the music industry overall. Now hardly anyone watches music videos. Digital music turned the industry on it's head with free downloading. Now streaming music is all the rage and at least some
