Many thanks SomeTorontoGirl and Beast for the pics. They enabled me to realize that although I thought we hadn't managed to meet up in Berlin, we actually did! And what a sweet person she was, too. Memories are starting to flood back.

Oh no, she was such a lovely and funny person, and of course a devout Stones fan. I remember buying a Stones ticket from her years ago, but despite the best attempts and intentions we never did meet. I will miss her and her love and enthusiasm, and of course her fount of Stones knowledge. Sleep well, with sssoul.

Thinking of driving up from Florence for this or the Memphis show.. How's parking for the Brooklyn Bowl? Easy to find close parking for Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. Never been a problem. Hope you make it! T

Quote2000 LYFH QuoteAquamarine I only saw them once at a little festival in Kent back in the mid-70s--I was there for the Faces, so they were a pleasant bonus! Also Wavy Gravy and the free food. We had to leave halfway through the last band and afterwards I couldn't remember who they were, till years later I saw an article which informed me it was Pink Floyd playing the whole of Atom Hear

Quotedcba QuoteAquamarine of course the MC5 were hugely influential. Imho, far less than the Stooges... Anyway RIP to a great guitarist. Depends the area of influence. Purely in terms of music, yes, I'd agree the Stooges were more influential. But regarding musical activism, the MC5 inspired thousands of bands, right through to bands like Rage Against the Machine and onward. Wayne was

I think I've read about half of those (it helps that being a lit prof is/was my job), but that's a wonderful list for future suggestions, I've saved it for future reading. The ones I've read are all classics of their kind, so I've got high expectations. Thanks, dmay/Mr Bowie!

Quotecoffeepotman I am so sorry to report that Brother Wayne has died, he was 75 and such an important part of my musical education. The 5 are all gone now Happy to say Dennis Thompson (drummer) is still alive, about the only happy news on this sad day. I met Brother Wayne once and he was the loveliest man, and of course the MC5 were hugely influential. Will be blasting Kick Out the Jams tonig

I was on a Laker flight to the US in the 1970s/early 80s that she was also on (she was still known as Anne Nightingale at that point). She was happy to chat with other passengers, and when one of the crew came back to say she'd been invited to visit the cockpit, she was thrilled and the whole plane applauded! RIP to a legend.

I saw them at the NRG stadium in Houston in 2019 (?), and they closed the roof because rain was forecast. It was awesome, because it had been so hot before the show, plus the rain had stopped by the time we came out. Also the indoor vibe was 100% better.

QuoteNellcote1971 QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteDEmerson QuoteMisterDDDD Looks very likely that Jazz Fest will have Lucky Dips to me. Had mostly ruled the festival out, based on the crowds and difficulty getting close with the various "Big Chief" or "Grand Marshal VIP" packages required.. With only really wanting/needing up close for the one show..it now becomes a viable optio

QuoteIguanamom Houston & Glendale are not listed under Ticketmaster. It looks like AXS is the official ticket vendor for those venues. Sooooo, I’m thinking I’ll need to be logged into AXS for presale for Houston. Thoughts or is anyone’s memory better than mine? Yes, I looked this up earlier. Houston is AXS. Definitely be logged in prior to the presale.

This is by far my favorite song from the album, by the end when that groove gets locked in, wow--I'm singing it for hours afterwards. And bouncing.

I was at the 2007 reunion show and it was awe-inspiring. (Friends who were at the closed rehearsal show the day before said in some ways that was even better.) They were all really tight and had been rehearsing for weeks. It was the perfect high to go out on. Robert had said ever since it was announced that it would be a one-off, and I think Jimmy was gambling that it would go so well Robert woul

So, I'm interested in how "limited" all these limited editions are. They're all still available for sale (the ones you can buy in the US, anyway) which seems to mean not that limited . . . Compared to other bands' limited edition offerings, anyway.
