QuoteBlueranger A little confused here. Are there 'flat' transfers of the 1971-1986 catalog on cd's outside Japan??? Not at this time.

Quotedrbryant The best digital versions of the post-Let it Bleed Stones catalogue are indeed the SHM-SACD's from 2011. Those DSD masterings were reportedly done "flat" from the original UK tapes by the people at FX Mastering. The new Platinum SHM-CD's use those 2011 DSD masterings, and they sound virtually as good. All other SHM-CD's do NOT use those 2011 mastering

Quotekowalski QuoteHis Majesty Is the SHM-CD release of Their Satanic Majesties Request from a few years ago also a flat transfer? Flat transfers : 1971-1986 albums (including live albums) 60's albums issued on SHM-CD are made from Bob Ludwig 2002 DSD remasters. Well, not quite yet. Anything that came out before September of 2013, uses old masterings. The only ones released with flat

QuoteMingSubu Took a Greyhound to Philly for the 6/21 concert. Never rode a Greyhound before. Not sure if I'd do it again. But I got a good story out of it. Walked around the city during the afternoon. Philly's Chinatown was cool. Who else went to the Philly concerts? Share pics and stories, if you got 'em. I think I was right in front of you, thank you for not getting t

Like the live version from Got Live. The studio version sounds like a bunch of honky cats. Nowhere close to Otis, although I like the live version, as I said.

Quotestonehearted The "not earning his keep" line from Gilmour was merely how he was putting it in interviews at that time, so as not to divulge all the petty details behind the falling out between Wright and Waters. But it is interesting how even in the post-Waters Floyd, for the Momentary Lapse of Reason album, Pink Floyd was officially just Gilmour-Mason and Rick Wright was credi

Quotestonehearted Quotetklawson you are wrong in regards to Wright's playing on it. Virtually all of the keyboard parts are played by Wright. Really? I recall a magazine interview with David Gilmour from the early 80s explaining why Rick Wright was not on The Final Cut, because in Gilmour's words he was "not earning his keep" and that both he and Roger ended up playing most

Quotestonehearted QuoteNoCode0680 QuoteRollingFreak QuoteNoCode0680 I don't know if I'd say I like Roger better, but I like the Roger era better. Namely for David. I do like Roger's writing though, sometimes it's a little too heavy handed for me. He's kind of a drag. Yup. Thats exactly why I like that "band" more than just Roger. I don't like him solo, b

1. Yes 2. Yes (paid 85 for each show) 3. I liked that they did ER. I wish they would have given each show the same amount of Taylor. I did get CYHMK at Philly 2, but would have liked more Taylor at Boston 2. I would have been fine with the same setlist every night, if it meant equalizing the shows for everyone who attended. 4. I listen to the 3 shows I have in over the air quality, which inclu

QuoteMILKYWAY But does it sound better than, say, the CD that came out with the SUPER-DELUXE EXILE ON MAIN ST set that came out a couple years back? EDITED FOR SPECIFICITY AND SPELLING. It could not possibly sound worse!

Quotekowalski A new release of Sticky Fingers on SHM-CD is scheduled for October 30. It will be made from the 2011 flat transfers from the analogue master tapes so it should sound great. Are you certain that it is the flat transfer used for the SHM-SACD? I see that nowhere on the listing, and I cannot read Japanese.

QuoteGazza Quoteretired_dog QuoteGazza QuoteLieB If they release Leeds and not something totally unreleased, such as Bristol or Newcastle, I will be disappointed. They can only release something that was (professionally) recorded in the first place. There's nothing to suggest that they recorded a large proportion of shows on that tour, and the only show that HAS circulated (or even been

Quotewhitem8 Well, I had wrote above, but guess the post was too long, my suggestion would be: Disc one: Analog mastering Disc Two: Mono Disc Three: Outtakes and alternate versions Disc Four: two live shows, Newcastle, and another one from the England tour Disc Five: DVD, live performances, Marquee, promo spots and interviews. They are not going to release a mono version of a 1971 album. I

The middle part call and response is definately not Mick. He may sing in different styles, but his voice is always recognizable. That said, my gues it is Brian and Keith in the left channel (or Brian double tracked) and Bill in the right channel.

Quotemuffie QuoteEleanor Rigby QuoteDandelionPowderman Nothing beats the studio version, imo, but the Philly 72 version with Taylor high in the mix is fantastic. Brussels Affair (the bootleg, not the official release) is too messy (and out of tune) for me to enjoy. You dont enjoy the Brussels 1973 version??? And then of course Charlie(!) is credited on Babylon. Live, the only time I've personally witnessed Ron singing was on Starfu**er in 1997 (couldn't hear him though). I took my 10 year old to see Roger Waters, he had a good time, but we were in the uppers at Yankee Stadium. I'm taking him to Boston, we have lottery tix & he will be 11 by then. I'm only going to be worried if they put us in the pit, which I doubt.
