I freakin' LOVED Paul McCartney's "Spies Like Us" back in the day. Adored it. A song written for a forgettable '80's comedy movie completely rocked my face off. I listened to that a hundred times if I listened to it once. I simply could not get enough of that heavy sound.

Emotional Rescue is my personal favorite. I would make mix tape versions, leaving out All About You and Indian Girl, then put Down In The Hole and the title track at the end. It would all fit on one 45 minute side of a 90 minute cassette tape. That custom mix always sounded great to me and gave me lots of energy. I associate it with driving down the road on sunny summer days.

It's interesting to come back after a few days and read everyone's latest comments and conversation about the song. The track certainly is topical. That tendency of being too on the nose with the lyrics can sometimes sound cheesy. That's why I think the lyrics to Dangerous Beauty are a little better than Sweet Neocon. It's more effective to take an oblique angle at a subjec

QuoteCristiano Radtke There will be an authorised remix version made by a Brazilian DJ named Alok, who've already worked with Mick on his latest single. It will be posted on May 2. Scary. I was just about to come in here and ask if anyone knew about the status of official remixes.

Fantastic. I like it the more I listen to it. It has a good groove. I like the changes where it gets more intense, and then the part where it slows down a lot to that sparse reggae. And I suspected that it would have a big hook, and it did!

We'll see. To me, kind of the whole point of an artist suddenly dropping an album or single is just to hit the audience with it, for it to truly be an unexpected surprise. A radio DJ announcing "We've got the single and we'll play it tomorrow" seems to defeat the purpose, but I could be wrong.

Sounds like it will be more funk than rock, if this is true. I would also wager that it has a strong hook. I love songs like Out Of Control and Sweet Thing, so I'm cool with it. Heck, I'm cool with it no matter what. It would be amazing to get any new Stones music. I hope this is all true and that we'll all know in a few hours.

QuoteDeathgod I was contacted today out of the blue by an ex colleague and friend who is a veteran of the radio and music industry. He currently oversees a network of stations in North America. He is not a huge Stones fan but knows I am. He said he has heard yet track, he had to keep secret as he had to ‘sign something’ I asked him if he was 100% and he said Yes. He said it has a ‘Miss You’ vi

One, it is true that surprise releases are very much in style these days, not just from Dylan. Two, the observation made above is also plausible, it could have been scheduled to be released in advance of the planned tour. Three, (as has also been noted) it's a good time to ride the positive publicity garnered by the One World appearance. I don't know if Deathgod is reliable, but I don&#

Yeah, "She Was Hot" was the first Stones song I ever taught myself. I didn't realize until much later that they play it using barre chords and it probably wasn't ever meant to be pla

I made a lyric video for Dylan's new song, if anyone is interested. Bob Dylan - Murder Most Foul (Lyric Video) I think it's a brilliant song. Amazing imagery, lots of great references not just to the JFK assassination, but to music and the 1960's.

The school district that I teach in here in Georgia is going to be closed tomorrow because of this virus. There's a Twitter thread going around right now that purports to be from someone working in the medical field in Italy, and it's sobering. I'm not linking it because it is from a Twitter user and not a verified and approved legitimate news source. If the Twitter thread re

Right at the moment I write this Coachella has not announced a cancellation, but according to Daily Mail they also haven't confirmed that they are not cancelling. I know that's the lamest news update ever. Sorry. SXSW didn't cancel until Ozzy and a bunch of sponsors dropped out. In fact, Ozzy and the sponsors had dropped out, and for a few days SXSW management had initially insi

I'd say with the South by Southwest cancellation today, the chances of Stones American shows being postponed or cancelled are somewhat higher. It may still only be a small chance, but things certainly seem to be trending in a negative direction. Most of the cancellations that I see from the link below seem to be mainly connected to Asian performers and/or shows in Asia. It might be worth

I think it was the Bigger Bang tour stop in Atlanta that had virtually no set at all, just a backdrop with an audience painted on it. I assume that's the El Cheapo John was talking about.
