Wasn't the story about the origin of "Glimmer Twins" -- a rich old lady on a cruise that Mick and keith took for some time off who kept asking them 'Who are you, give me a glimmer?' -- supposed to have been in South America, maybe an Amazon cruise? Not sure, but it seems to ring some bells. Maybe closer to 1969 than Fitzcarraldo?

No Security is a great album but I didn't realize it was not highly rated. I agree that Goats Head Soup and Undercover are much much better than the respect they get among fans (i.e., here).

He bills himself a creative genius. If he convinces people that buying tickets to his shows equates to participating in a worldwide movement to save the planet, then he deserves the billing.

Yeah, that has been clear for some time. When BV posts info, or even something that he calls a rumor, it has a sound basis in fact. When he doesn't post anything, that means there is nothing to post at the moment. He is pretty much always correct.

QuoteRocky Dijon It's unfortunate when sarcasm is mistaken for ignorance. You took it wrong. I knew you knew that, or assumed you did, and we're being sarcastic. I was pointing it out for those who didn't get your joke

QuoteRocky Dijon Quick! Discuss Atlantic City 1989. Bring us back into safety! You do know that the promoter of those shows was Donald Trump? I was at the first and third shows, not the PPV. I have a lot of papers, including the NY Daily News with the story from that week about the helicopter crash that killed Trump's VP, and how Trump was supposed to be on the flight but changed his p

The Stones have good lawyers. Trump paid the normal licensing fees in order to use YCAGWYW and the other songs he uses, as per normal procedure. That is why artists can complain, and make it seem like they object, but can't do anything.

We are not talking about normal measures, these are people who live very expensive lives. One thing the upper classes have in common: Too much is never enough. He figures if people are willing to give him good money for painted rehearsal setlists and paint by numbers quality reproductions of great artworks, why not? And who can blame him?

The response on this board, the few clueless aside, is gratifying. In the village of Guernica, populated by mostly women and children because the men were away fighting Franco's fascist's troops, at around 4:30 p.m. on market day, Monday, 26 April 1937, warplanes of the German Condor Legion, commanded by Colonel Wolfram von Richthofen, bombed Guernica for about two hours. The Germ

Besides being a crap knockoff, the opposite of art, it chooses to parody a brutal event, the destruction of a Spanish town by nazi-backed fascists, an act of mass murder rivaling what went on in the camps. Perhaps Ronnie's next work will feature the Stones faces and tongue logo superimposed on photos of the victims taken at the liberation of Dachau, Maybe a series of lithos with the Stones

QuoteHairball Masters yes, but genius? No. This guys a genius, though his choice of guitar here is questionable. "I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music". - Einstein Didn't Mick once tell him "Maybe I couldn't come up with General Relativity but you could have never written Satisfaction"?

Quoteiraq0708 Quotejlowe Quoteiraq0708 Quotejlowe Well, the new music from ABBA is delayed until 2020. And their last release was around 1982. So, we have to be patient.....15 or so years is nothing really. The difference is no one cares about an ABBA album.... I suspect a new ABBA album (which probably will not happen) would sell more copies worldwide than a new Sones album. Just proves the

Therr aren't really any unanswered questions. They do not socialize. They have not for many years, down to after tour parties arrended by only the three. Micks life does not include going to Keith's family event, which you can hardly blame him for given all keith has said about Mick.

They get along fine on stage, when they are working. Other than that they don't see each other except for the occasional business meeting. But they do enjoy playing together more than in the past it seems.

A general question: When they pick a dozen or so tracks to release, do they go into the studio together for two weeks and record everything anew to get an album with a unified sound? Or do they piece together what they have, add to that, etc.,individually?

There were also "funny" jokes about the sw tour, renamed the "steel wheelchair tour". Many more jokes bsck then. Now its no longer funny, just an old joke. Plus they have aged on stage much better than most groups, playing live no musici
