Quotehowled Maybe John has his songs mixed up (Well, he did write a lot of them). Maybe he meant "Scared" instead of "Bless You". There is some similarity in the feel and maybe some chords between "Scared" and "Miss You". The ending guitar solo does sound sort of similar to the "Miss You" melody. This might be the lick that Lennon was

Since we are talking about songs influencing other songs and musical bits from songs being lifted and grafted onto other songs, it's probably worth mentioning to note that the bass lines from Miss You were used by Van Halen for their 1981 song Push Comes To Shove.

Quotewhitem8 Yes, and I have read an interview where Lennon says "Scared" and that he felt Mick ripped it off. For the life of me I can't find that interview though! You're probably thinking of the Playboy interview, as cited above by Title5Take1, where he clearly claims he thinks it's Bless You that was sped up into Miss You.

As Keith has pointed out, the true 50th anniversary of The Rolling Stones is marked by the first time Charlie joined the band onstage to round out the classic lineup at Ealing Jazz Club on Saturday 12 January 1963. Site of Ealing Jazz Club at 42A The Broadway, Ealing, London W5 2NP.

Quotetomk Quotetomcasagranda It's a damn sight better than Do Ya Think I'm Sexy by Rod, or Sister Disco by The Who. I can see the comparison for Stewart's Sexy, but Sister Disco is totally different. Totally different indeed--because Sister Disco is an anti-disco song.

Quotemidnrambler Both clips use a prerecorded backing track with live vocals. Yes, perhaps you're right. But, soundwise, there's something I like better about the second clip, in that it sounds punchier somehow--probably because it's in mono.

It's probably someone doing a bad karaoke Jagger impression, and not a "yawn" at all, though I haven't heard the performance. But let me guess--it's that part after the middle verse when the song slows down and Jagger goes "aaaaahhhhhhh-I....I've been walking central park, singing after dark..."

I would say number 2, because it has more of a live feel, where number 1 is an obvious mime to the studio track with perhaps only a live lead vocal. If number 2 is a mime, it's a much more spirited one than video number 1. I get bored very easily watching mimed TV "performances" and Charlie always gives it away by hardly moving and by looking more bored than usual. But in clip numb

Miss You is always described as a disco song, but it's actually a straight rock track with a solid twin guitar attack, and the song is also darker, in its portrayal of fading middle-aged debauchery, than the lighter, more smiley-faced fare that was disco. There is, however, a toned-down "disco" version , with bass and keys mainly featured in the mix, which was, after all, the c

Ragged Glory was maybe a letdown in that it didn't have an anthemic track like the previous album's Rockin' In The Free World.
