Lucinda Williams' latest, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone. Tasty. Love the voice. Read somewhere that she sounds like she's singing through gravel with a mouth full of Jack....spot on. Perhaps not as good an album as Car Wheels....her masterpiece I think, because at 20 songs there is a bit of 'filler', but very VERY nice nevertheless. One of my faves for the year to da

QuoteMacnee2 Hi guys, My teenage daughter and I have good but not great tickets to Adelaide. The Ticketek box office at Adelaide Oval opens at 4pm on the day. What are the chances of paying an upgrade to Premium seats on one of the many Viagogo unsold Premium tickets that the promoters will return to the official pool of tickets before show time? How did this work in Asia/Europe/USA on

QuoteRomanCandle Am I the only one who doesn't like this song? No....I never really got into it either. Heard it on the radio when it was first released, intro'd as their new song and immediately thought it was a bit bland. And I NEVER got OVER that video with Jagger in those track pants...... I DO however think it's a bit better live. Not much, but a bit. I don't cringe

Quotemarcovandereijk Now just hold on a minute. Why is it that we're always trying to put a song or an album in some historic perspective when we're discussing it on this board? Why not listen to a song for its own merits? Why all the analyses about the phase the band was going through, how songs don't sound like songs that were recorded 20 years earlier et cetera? I he

Bland. Doxa said it best, to paraphrase him, it's all there, yet somehow it's still missing an essential ingredient. Not sure what it is. We've all heard The Stones do this sort of thing for decades, and with much more edge and 'feel'. This to me is just Mick going "Hey Keith, give us one of those scratchy intros and we'll fill in the blanks" sort o

QuoteBrstonesfan No one buys music anymore. I do not like U2, but this will help their fan friendly image. They like the Stones, make the massive bucks on tour... I actually think, having watched their performance and the set piece after between Bono and Cook after, Bono made a point of saying "we're not in the free music business". I reckon Apple are probably paying THEM a cl

QuoteMel Belli Don't have a hard copy of the album at hand, but Track Talk here lists Mick as playing on ONNYA: Keith does the fills during the verses as well as the lead — but it's pretty clearly Mick playing rhythm. And the chord progression, especially that F# E G sequence: that's just not something you'd typically find Keith writing these days. THAT shut DP up!!!

In the studio....sen-bloody-sensational. The Stones at their best Live...never heard a version that has that seemless and melodic, yet manic and crunched riff from the studio release. If anyone can point me in the direction of a great live take, please do. And I was AT their show at the WACA in Perth in '73. Nice, but not great.

Rolling Stones WACA, Perth Feb 24th 1973. Camped out overnight, ran in and stood about 30 yards from stage. It was HOT. Wife is only 4'11" tall, so she stood on 2 full coke cans to gain an extra 4-5 inches in height!!! Setlist was great but short, but show somehow didn't seem to take off until they played You Cant Always Get What you Want. THEN the place went, and stayed
