players like Keith or Steve Howe ( can you tell them apart??? ) like a lot of variety in their sounds so they need different tools. I loved that idea when I first started playing ( 40 plus years ago now) and so I have a variety of guitars and amps so I can get all the sounds I want. I have only sold 4 guitars in all that time ( and had one stole after a gig) so my pile of gear is pretty large. I

sorry I have not used tabs to learn in decades. I either listen and figure stuff out ( so much easier in the digital ages that the LPs days..I was crazy enough to learn a lot of Jeff Beck's There and back offa LPs) or watch a uTube video if I get stuck on chords. there is a guy on youtube maybe jimmyjames??? who does play alongs to lots of Stones and classic rock stuff. those are amazi

of course one can play minor chords in open tunings. you just need three notes. wow from my error about MT's tuning we fell down this rabbit hole. amazing I play slide in standard now and then and I certain play a lot of opening tuning stuff without using a slide. The scales are all still the same intervals they are just placed on the neck differently. One just has to memorize the fr

all that makes sense....uTubers just tune down the high E to D..It works nicely that way...I can get to those double stops as bar slants if I am in practice for standard tuning slide but it certainly is a hassle and half the point of open tunings is easing one's path...I abused the tune Tulsa Time the other day messing up my bar slants and then losing my place. I appreciate the deep know

Mathijs, I am not here to argue ( God I hate that crap on boards) but I am sure MT is is standard. He played it is standard on Ladies n Gents and when he plays without a slide during the 69 tour on this song the licks are very clearly in standard. he has the country style bend that needs the high E string. I worked out those solos ages ago. You can of course continue to hold your opinion but my

During the single shot of Bill we see the headstock of the Armstrong guitar so that is a throw in. I disagreed that Taylor played in open G. He played in standard through out.
