It's now time to turn this marvelous 700-page thread of speculation, frustration, and incredibly delayed gratification into an e-book - it'll sell like hot cakes. Or at least rock cakes...

Quotelem motlowThe Winos were a failed side project by a member of The Rolling Stones. They released two albums both of which bombed and toured a couple of times doing theaters. They flew commercial because they didn’t make enough to rent a jet. It’s weak music made by session players, so far from the real deal it’s not funny. I saw John Primer a few weeks ago, that is the real deal.No matter

Quote I was referring to that, Topi. Thanks for clarifying. Haven't been on here as much of late. It's just a great, catchy little thing. An album of stuff like this would be fantastic!!! Totally. love it. Want moooore.

Undercover, and the Julian temple video, which got banned, had mainstream cultural relevance in 1983. Maybe their returning to the stage in 89, the year Lou Reed returned to form with New York, Neil Young with Freedom/Ragged Glory and Dylan with Oh Mercy. That was cultural relevance, in terms of 'classic rock' returning top the fore in advance of Americana, grunge, Britpop, the 90s. B

Hope it was an afternoon gathering at the Physic Garden, because after a very sunny afternoon, it is sadly bucketing down here in London. Stay dry on your birthday, Mick!

Isnt it the case that RS recording sessions do generally feature the band playing together at the same time in the same room, and that is particular to the Stones in recent decades - a lot of bands build it up separately. B&L was all the sound of a room, wasn't it? With overdubs, but that's to be expected...

Who cares? It never happened. Mick haters and Keef haters are naff pisstakers on here. Enough. Rolling Stones would have be diminished minus Keith in 89, or at any number. He is the co-songwriter, which Brain was not, nor Taylor. I think it would not have played well, and to answer that boring question, it would have done shit. HE is essential to the line up. The end.

There were a few reports of poor sound at Rome on Expecting Rain, but especially compared to this site, which accommodates plenty of sharply conflicting opinions, ER is a bit hagiographic over there, and barely a whisper of criticism is permitted on the boards without being drowned out by cheerleaders, for whom anything Dylan does is genius. It still sounds like a fabulous tour, though I wish he&

Well it's not the Wick, which is on the other side of the Park near Richmond Gate and the Roebuck Pub, overlooking Petersham Meadows and The Thames - a views so good it is protected by an act of Parliament. Didn't know Ronnie had moved that side of the park at some point - near the marvellous Isabella Plantations, too.

Love that Berlin version - from what is their last, so far, concert. Let's hope it ain't the last! And when I am in the mood, Memory Motel is great - especially Keith's lines. But we most all bow in abeyance to the queen of all riffs that us NEGRITA!

Aside from the age and infirmity related issues and conjecture, I found something really moving and poignant about it all, to see the remaining Stones called to one more photo shoot - their first was on 4 May, 1963, in Chelsea - was it actually Edith Grove?! - and sixty years later, here they are in a doorway in Tribeca, perhaps for one of their last. 'It's a wrap, boys!'. This mus

What a judgmental piece of crap that reviewer is, While also getting his facts wrong.I'd prefer to read more about the film rather than an idiot's opinion on sex, drugs, rock n roll, bad behaviour and all that jazz. Still, the Stones still bring that out of a certain kind of person.

Quotesnorton Keith scaufs at Mick Taylor taking 5 years to out out an album, how ironic. r Not really. We're talking, after all, when they were already twenty years into a then-prolific career, 39 years ago.

Have to interject here as I think Winter is a great song,m I always play it in that season, too, and love the build up, the strings and Taylor's solo. Can You Hear the Music is like an escapee from Satanic Majesties - this is the one where Mick plays the shamisen?

It was enjoyable, but also quite scrappy, and I agree that little if anything appears to have been licensed, with quite a bit of the footage looking like it was pulled off a 10th generation VHS cassette. The focus on his love life is probably due to the fact that there is not very much interview material otherwise. Fairly cavilier use of the same footage with different music set to it. Back in th

BB and VL not so great, but Bridges to Babylon - now that's a class act. A 21st C classic, maybe the only one. That and Blue & Lonesome. As for "great songwriters who are gonna find out the hard way that’s all they are" - I'd say that's enough to start with. Let's see hoe it finishes! Maybe Chanel H's voice and Ben Waters' piano grind a little more p

Chain of Fools is great, nice solo too - Ronnie sounds and looks fab, it's enough to make you misty eyed, and it's great news that Ben Waters has also been recording with the band, he can really whack it.

I was once on the grounds of the remote Devon farm owned by Dave Brock, guitarist and founder of the mighty Hawkwind, and I remember going for a walk through the grounds with Dave, and him pointing out Denny Laine's old car, which he had abandoned there, far from any road, when he stayed there sometime in the 80s, I guess after bailing out of Wings. There was also a caravan still out there i
