Funny - I just downloaded a bunch of Bee Gees songs about two month's ago...had a yearning to hear some of there oldies - loved New York Mining Disaster, I've Just Gotta Get a Message to You, and I Started a Joke. And like other IORRians, I spurned & scorned disco during its assault the airwaves..but as I'm getting on in years, I have to say a couple of their songs from tha

Fantastic guy. RIP Don. BTW, for those outside the U.S. you've heard his voice if you ever watched Saturday Night Live (he also was the announcer for several older game shows). He started as a news broadcaster at a local NYC NBC affiliate.

I still subscribe - but most of the stuff in it is rot. I do like the retro content on the last page - who was on the cover 20 or 30 years ago and what the top 10 songs were. When they put the Boston bomber on the cover, I ripped it up. Since I have a teenager in the house, I do like to read about some of the newer music...but it stopped being a serious rock/music mag years ago. I used to

For everything I've read on the Stones, I'll go with Stanley Booth as the ultimate story teller on those wild rides. I also love the works of Bill Flanagan and Chet Flippo (RIP) for their articles on the Stones and others. And of course, the amazing Lester Bangs. Cheers,

An excellent story. It's so good to hear the guys whose music we cherish and whose lives we follow (for better or for worse) did the right thing & contributed to your effort. Way to go!

While I thought Will Self's liner notes on Warren Zevon's last album, Genius, were brilliantly funny, this article is pretentious, wordy drivel. He comes across as quite the snollygoster.

Here's a neat story... About 20 years ago, a charming older friend of ours was visiting her son in NYC. She'd just come from the airport and was trying to negotiate the cab & her bags. In the lobby, a man offered to help her. He carried her bags up to her son's apartment. When her son greeted her, she told him that she just wanted to give the nice young man a tip. The fellow

Definitely worth checking out this show. I too am classically late to the party & I'm not much of a TV person, but I started it on Netflix last summer and became hooked - it's twistedly funny. Agree with Rockman that you can skip the rehab episode but I thought The Fly was amusing. And as Dean Norris mentioned in the very first episode he makes a joke about Walter White hold

If you had to pick a song to play for someone who had never heard the band (which seems implausible unless they were in a coma for the last 50 years), the dilemma is there are so many eras of the Stones with so many great sounds. If I had to pick what the common man would deem as a stereotypical (pardon the pun), I think it has to be either Jumping Jack Flash, Satisfaction, or HTW. p.s. m
