Hate to hear that the new mix has too much reverb! Thankfully there are some ways to fix that with a DAW. There are plug-ins that actually reduce the reverb in a mix and for those without there are a few tricks which may help reducing the reverb. It involves creating tracks which are the SUM of the L and R tracks (basically a mono track) and a track which is the difference of the L and R track

Yes Keith has a few problems playing live these days, perhaps it's a hearing problem or a neurological problem in the timing from what he hears to translate to his fingers, which themselves are not as nible as they used to be, or sensory overload with all the stuff happening on a Stones stage BUT.... If you listen to keith playing by himself, noodling around, playing acoustic numbers, rec

Greeting all. Been a while and I am happy to see my Euro friends getting their expectations met and IORR providing the super community for an exciting buildup. I am so glad The Rolling Stones are a part of the present and future that I often dream of them. Usually in some party setting with instruments everywhere and Jagger dancing in the next room. The dancing is always there, can't see

Always loved Anita. The ultimate rock chick. Deeply saddened by her passing. Her era with the Stones produced all the magic music and I can't help think she was a part of it all. At one point they were all trying to impress Anita. Although it is good and classy that she never wrote a book, I get the feeling that she had the best of the Stones stories....now we only have the legend. peace

QuoteBliss The funniest post...I didn't find the latest attack on me from Bliss particularly amusing. Just... pathetic. Many Thanks to the poster in this thread for emailing me that long interview I did several years ago...with a very nice and accurate reporter, Teri Merchant, who at the time worked for the very cool Atlanta paper "Southern Fried." I had forgotten all about

QuoteDandelionPowderman Does anyone really think that a digitally recorded album sounds better on vinly? It's just... a CD on vinyl. Maybe it's mastered better. Seems like a cash grab whereas vinyl LPs from analog recorded albums is about the listening experience. If someone wants to listen to an LP of their favorite artist just to be able to listen I doubt the format matters. S

Quote2000 LYFH StonesTod was the master of snark! He got a bit carried away at times, but usually good for a laugh. He was good at reminding us how silly the whole "fan board" thing can get at times. What ever happened to him? He was the best and i miss him a lot I think he was aka: T&A. Hope I have thi

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Who was this guy, who up until maybe 2 years ago would always post these zingers. He was kind of sarcastic and jaded about it all, but always very clever and brilliant. He got himself banned for some reason. I think Naturalust might recall. Possibly Amsterdamned or 71Tele? Here is the DrBryant response to the Onlystones saga that cracks me up: Quote drbryant Onl

Someone did a mock up story about OnlyStones adventures that was right up there with the best. Also 71Tele had a video posted about Taylor not being invited on tour, it was classic but included some themes that some found offensive and was removed from this site. You can still see it on YouTube. Strangely the best humor doesn't always translate well to international cultures and often in

Saw him in Missoula, Montana on his first date after his medical issues and his playing was fantastic. Such a great technician on that guitar. The medical procedure obviously didn't effect his fingers or his brain. In my opinion the best guitar player on the planet these days. Wonderful to see someone who just keeps getting better and better and shows no sign of slowing down at 70! Ju

Kudos for Axl pulling this off as well as he is! I'm certainly surprised. If he can sing like that for more that three shows without blowing his voice out I will be even more impressed. Drumming seems a bit off. Miss Malcolm.

QuoteHairball 1976 was a good year for the Devil... Captain and Tennille - Muskrat Love The tune was actually written by Willis Allen Ramsey who put out one self titled fantastic record in 1971 and it was called Muskrat Candlelight. The original actually isn't so bad and that record of his is a classic! Total cult status among lots of musicians.

Anybody who loves Janis shouldn't miss the performances she did in Canada which are documented in the Festival Express DVD. The Janis stuff in the Extras portion of that DVD are nothing short of stellar.

Quotemighty stork Sorry to say but the loss of Malcolm Young and now Brian Johnson marks the end of the band as we know it. Great run boys. You've got it right stork. Don't forget Phil Rudd too. Great run indeed and we have the records to prove it. Obviously the Axl thing is to fulfill commitments but it's too bad it wasn't Axl instead of Brian that is losing his hearin

Great performance somewhat reduced by a too wet mix and a squashed dynamic range mastering job. All things that can be corrected as DP points out (and apparently have per Bob Clearmountains emails to one of our own). Comparing it too the original Sticky Fingers record makes this glaringly apparent. Gad they released it, worth the price of the download and imo their best release in a long time

Quotedesertblues68 I can"t believe he has gone. He was such a big part of my teenage years. Purple Rain and especially Darling nikki represented naughtiness and rebellion as my parents could not understand the lyrics. Saw him in Wembley in the early 90s, he was such a talented and original musician. RIP Prince Damn. Quite a loss indeed. Nice post db68, I can only say I was much grateful fo

Quotemickschix Latebloomer, I do hope to see you in NYC at this exhibit! And I'm sure Mick was teasing about using the smell of socks in the exhibit! Not kidding about incorporating the curry scent though..and I would also love to smell what the studio smelled like...a combination of reefer, Jack Daniels, acetate, hot wires, and incense. Just my guess. Probably a pretty good guess mickschi

Quotelatebloomer Quotemickschix Thanks for posting that this Exhibition will travel to other major cities! I would rather catch it closer to home....well, actually I would RATHER see it in London but that may be out of the question next year. NYC would be very nice! I thought it was interesting that Mick mentioned capturing the smells that evoke certain memories , like the curry and fish & c

Thanks Bjornulf. Always interesting to see this stuff. Biggest surprise is that entire continents and countries are not well represented. Australia, Asia, Africa, Mexico, Cuba and most of Canada and middle America. Obviously just a snapshot. It would be nice to see such analytical data over a longer time period such as 2016 to date. Safe travels and thanks for the site.

QuoteDoomandGloom While they made some of the greatest hippie music which I love, collectivily they are among the biggest hyprocrits of the entire 60's movement. Feeding their ravanous tastes for drugs and decadence on the back of an anti-war movement while brandishing firearms and crack pipes with a sense of entitlement. Crosby born with a silver spoon in his mouth is the most dreadful of

Much respect for this obviously talented and dear man. He definitely introduced the world to just what a gifted Producer could do. Many of us had no idea what a Producer even was before he touched our lives with his brilliant arrangements and orchestral touches. He turned the Beatles from a beautiful, matte black and white 4x6 photo into a dazzling, glossy colored 8x10. We definitely lost a

QuoteBungo Single most boring rock guitarist ever. This is how "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was supposed to sound : ( Peter Frampton ) Great version indeed but it's always easier to drive down the road after it's been graded and paved by the true innovators. Harrison and Clapton did a fine job all those decades ago and this is more of a tribute to them than anyt
