Punk had nothing to with beeing a great instrumentalist. Quite the opposite. There are political inclinations with the punk-movement that, I think, is beyond the American context. Americans have never had a political party center to the left, they have a two-party system with two right-wing parties. The only anarchy that exists in the US is right-wing anarchy (the Tea party militia). So I think m

I think the lyrics on Mick's solo-works, like Primitive Cool, were unusually personal, mature and not just the standard R&R cliches (like on Bigger Bang, with cocks, chasing girls and anal-sex). The funny thing is when asked about it (in an interview) he didn't confess to that. He was asked about the song Primitive cool - if that was about his children asking him how it was beeing y

This producing thing - how hard can it be? Do you need to be a Messiah to handle it? Or a rocket scientist?

Listened to the track once again. I think the Stones plan with "Dirty Work" was the same as with C S Blues: Let's see if thet dare to release this? Unfortunatelly, they did this time! And I don't think the Stones cared: they fulfilled their deal (or did they really?) and got the dollar checks! I listened to Mick's lyrics on the song and they remind me of the lyrics

QuoteGazza The top Spanish clubs were attracting the biggest stars from other countries long before it was commonplace for clubs in other countries to do likewise. Puskas, Di Stefano, etc. Its not just a question of capitalism destroying football (greed has destroyed lots of things - sports, the music and film industries etc) but the fact that we're living in an era where players have mor

I don´t care about this trading business. It's taking the focus away from the sport. Capitalism is destroying football. Torres is a spaniard - shouldn't he be playing in Spain? I remember football before capitalism destroyed it!

Quote Blake was right. You might add, if you have read Schopenhauer, that wisdom leads to suffering. This implies that the Stones, through hedonism, have reached a state of wisdom. Or have they? I'm afraid very much of their wisdom has illuded me... .

Congrats, Denmark. Best of luck in the final. Sweden, who lost to France earlier today, will meet Spain in the bronze-medal match then. Who do you think will win that match, Carlitos?

My first rock/pop record was a live-single with Elvis Presley with CC Rider on the A-side (can't remember the B-side). It was from his famous Hawaii-concerts in the mid-seventies. I remember the price - 7.50 SEK (about 0.75 Euro). My first LP was Deep Purple "24 Carat". If my memory serves me... .

The tongue-logo and vintage Stones clothing seems to "in" for teenage girls and younger women. A couple of years ago hardrock, vintage t-shirts (Kiss, Motorhead, AC/DC) were fashionable among young girls.I don't think it has much to do with the music, moreso with fashion. Personally, I remember buying those hideous black t-shirts at concerts in the 90-ties. The merchandise has step

I see, Edith Grove. So musically you're standing on pretty firm ground then! Even if you, from time to time, are visited by unwelcome guests with strange female names, like Katrina for example!

As a creative and interactive group of musicians and songwriters they were finished, as I said earlier, after the 1981/82 tour. As a business venture, on the other hand, they will never finish, at least not in our living time. Just look at The Beatles! From that point of view it doesn't matter if they tour or not, or release any new material.

From my point of view the Stones were finished as a rockband back in 1982. Between 1983 and 1989 they didn't exist as a group. From 1989 and forwards they are a revival-band, touring every fourth year when the money is right and Mick wants to.

From what I heard so did Hendrix's relatives in the US manage to keep Jimi's son in Sweden out of the will. I saw a picture of the boy (now a man) and he looked exactly like his dad. He and his Swedish mother will not get a red cent from Jimi's estate. Apparently American Lawyers can twist the law in whatever direction!

QuoteJustin Chuck is a fine musician but unfortunately, the Stones have molded him into a more restrictive musician. The guy Mick and Keith needed when they hired him is exactly the guy he turned out to be: curator, conductor and leader. Chuck rarely strays too far from the original arrangement of the songs. Before the 89 tour...they band played the songs the way they wanted to...mainly because t

Four Flicks, the MSG arena-show is the only Stones-DVD that I, still, frequently load my DVD-player with. Keith is on fire during "Whip" on the B-stage. The Bigger Bang DVD-set is just collecting dust at my home.

Post-War England was quite a poor old country and a harsh class society. Working-class kids, like Keith, weren't exactly spoilt and "curled around" like kids are now. Those were different times! But perhaps Doris was really mean, as Keith tells in his "memoirs".

I'm trying to be accurate here. Initially it was Honestman who started a thread discussing another member (x) on this board (which is against the rules). So Honestman was banned. Sympathizing with Honestman, Deltics chose to leave the board. This upset Swiss, who seemed to dislike x and didn't hesitate to manifest that, thus breaking the same rules as Honestman did. All this is rathe
