The only Stones-dvd that I watch with some regularity these days is the second dvd from Four Flicks (MSG, NY 2003). Seems to me that indoor-stadiums is the best arena for The Stones. "When the whip comes down" from that concert is simply stunning! I have "Let's spend.." on VHS and it has been collecting dust for decades... .

Thanks for the kind word, Doxa. It was a local union-representative at Aftonbladet who said something like that (I don't remember the exact words) in the beginning of this "affair". The whole interview, word by word, you can find here: . It's in swedish though, I don't know if you are "finlandssvensk" or not. If not maybe it's all greek to you? Funily enoug

Mr Addict: Thanks for your (inside?) information, I stand corrected. I was just quoting Mr Larsson though. He said that his bit was intended to last 30 minutes but he only got 17. Can I make some comments about what's been said here and , maybe, straighten something out? 1. Markus didn't decide to go to Paris, his boss sent him there. 2. Markus never had something personal against Keith

Markus says that he was hit on the head if you listen to the whole clip on Aftonbladet - "The Schulman Show". Very mildly though, he says. He also says that he has no intention of sueing him (Keith). A journalist union has made a couple of sharp statements on the subject though (they dont't accept violence or threats against any journalist).

We can all have opinions on how good a journalist Markus is, but to call him a moron or an idiot is just - idiotic!

Björnulf: Perhaps it's a different situation in Norway. You are lucky then. In Sweden we have very few pop/rock (or even film or entertainment)-journalist who are +40 years old. Pop/rock/entertainment are supposed to be for kids or adults. It's a sign of the times. As I said earlier: they could have sent Tore Börjesson (who is about 50 years old ) and a living Stones-encyclopedia - but

The clip is hilarious though! I couldn't help myself laughing. Look att the expression from Jonas Gardell (a well known swedish writer and comedian)! Markus even laughs at himself (he's ashamed of his "swenglish" pronunciation). This was only the last question. I have read the whole interview and it wasn't that bad att all. He asks Keith why he hardly mentions Bill in the

Björnulf: To answer your question on page 11. The pop-journalists on Aftonbladet (or Expressen, probably Verdens Gang too...) are born in the late 70-ties or the 80-ties. They don´t care about The Rolling Stones or classic rock at all (Springsteen is an exception though, for some reason...). Markus Larsson was brought up on hardrock (heavy metal etc) and never listened to classic rock. These days

This is making a hen out of a feather. There's really no need to stir up emotions about this (or leave the board, come on Doxa you know better than this!). It's classic tabloid-journalism. Markus Larsson doesn't know a shit about the Rolling Stones. The entertainment-section on Aftonbladet consists of kids or juvenils: to them the Rolling Stones is a museum-piece, something their p

Aftonbladet and Expressen are the two biggest tabloids in Sweden, I read them every day on the net. The thing is that Aftonbladet have "entertainment-journalists" that are big Stones-afficionados like Robert Börjesson per example. He would have loved to travel to Paris to interview Keith Richards. Instead they send Markus Larsson who knows nothing about the Stones and doesn't care

Please elaborate Doxa. I have always appreciated your input on this forum. Have you heard about the 80/20-rule? I think it fits to this forum too... .

About Ove Tingvall: I believe every word he said. I heard it all on the swedish TV-channel TV 4. Maybe Keith wasn't drunk but Ove had the impression he was. Apparently he (Keith) called everyone "my friend". "Brandis" (Ove T) is the undisputed swedish number one Stonesfan.

Markus Larsson, like almost all swedish pop-journalists these days, likes swedish indie-pop. He adores artists like Håkan Hellström (kind of a swedish Morrissey epigon) and Kent (Depeche Mode epigons). Artists like the Rolling Stones are seen as yesterdays news and not "hipp" anymore. To take your shots at them kind of elevates you in his circles.

What strikes me is that Sir Michael (Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire) often criticizes England in his lyrics. Noticed that on the song "Let's work" also. Great Britain was a bit left behind economically during the 70/80-ties. Is it that that he is refering to? Is it true that he votes for the Tories? Are there any Brits outthere who can help me with this? Hang F

Not to forget: they don't have a real bassplayer anymore. They have a stand in for Bill who plays funk. Bob Dylan caracterized them as a funkband these days.

If they decide to tour my only wish is that it won't be a repetition of the 2002/03/06/07-tours. I wish they could spend some time on the arrangements of the songs, especially the warhorses. What's the point of making a new album these days? They don't really function as a band anymore; Micks voice is hoarse, Keith has arthritis and suffers from a braininjury, Ron has serious alcoh

Agree with Bashlets. I can't understand how thet managed to produce such a thin sound. I mean, they hired a well known director, Hal Ashby, for the project. If "Hamptons" came out as an official release though I would buy it on any format. Would't mind heavy editing on it either: they could cut out five minutes of "guitarclowning" on the 10-minutessongs (Beast of bur

I'm with you there, Skipstone. It comes across as arrogant, as if he doesn't care what country or state he is in. Kind of an insult, even if that is not his intention.

Thanks! Great, just great. He has aged like a fine wine. There used to be a stunning Lefty Dizz clip on Youtube from the Checkerboard Lounge gig in Chicago with the Stones and Muddy Waters (1981, incl Buddy Guy). I can't find that clip anymore. Does someone have it? Please post it then!

Heard that first in Eriksberg, Gothenburg in the summer of 1990. Seems to me Keith is basically very shy. In public he has a hard time stringing together more than two sentences. And what he says is often hardly audible. It sounds like a drunken slur... .
