If you ask me since I'm a Stones-fan and biased I'll choose The Stones almost anytime. Trying to be a bit more objective i do think that per example The Police and ELO were very influential to the pop/rock-musicscene around those years (late 70-ties, early 80-ties), at least here in Sweden. At that time, at least in my age-group, The Rolling Stones were seen as a bit obsolete, not exac

Bless her heart. She deserves admiration for her struggle for human rights all over the world.

No it wasn't. But "Start me up" was, at least in my mind, the best classic rock-song of the year 1981 (almost 30 years ago, think of it...). Look at the song's longevity: it is still played around hockeyarenas and still gets some radio rotation.

Know pretty much about live-boots but very little about out-takes (have a few from the Exile-period). Heard that Voodoo-Brew and -stew shuld be really good. Which are the out-takes worth having? Does an out-takes greatest hits-compilation exist outthere?

Why not Tim Curry and The Rolling Stones? This guy seems to be up for it. Maybe his todger is less tiny too?

Utter brilliance! Bad luck with the heart-attack though! That guy should replace Mick on the next tour. What a performer!

It's not only the content that is shit, the Magazine itself seems to be made out of shit when you judge by the paperquality.

To me it's completely redundant. It's a great dust collector! Perhaps with one exception: "Rough Justice" - a standard rocker that works pretty well live. Maybe it's an age-thing; younger Stones-fans seems to be more "forgiving"! The last really good album was "Tattoo You", some 30 years ago. I never bargain with that.

Why are they still stuck in that pattern with autumn tourstarts in North America and summertour in Europe the next year? What are the pros and cons with that? Personally, living in Europe, I would prefer it the other way around. An autumn indoor-arena tour in Europe would suit me just fine. I'm not so fond of giant stadium-concerts as they tend to be more of big happenings than really enjoya

It's comments like yours, Rockinbud, that closes threads. Have you ever heard of netiquette? To the subject: The prosecutor in this case is a feminist. Laws concerning sexual crimes has been very politicized (influenced by feminism) in Sweden these days. That means that the rule of law has diminished for men in Sweden. The burden of proof has changed somewhat from the plaintiff to the defend

QuoteROPENI He was arrested for rape and other sex crimes against underage girls, nothing to do with the documents,IF he is guilty of the sex charges, then screw him and let him rot in jail, the leaked documents is another story. That's not true, ROPENI. The, alleged, victims are grown women, not underage girls. Since all this happened in Sweden I have studied the case. I won't go int

He's a journalistic hero. He's doing what all decent journalists are supposed to do: expose those in power. His privatlife is not my business. I do recognize the danger with Wikileaks though.

You are right, George V. The "bad boy" image hasn't wore off Keith as it has, to some extent, with Mick.

Thanks for the correction, Green Lady. I kind of knew that, I was just overstating my facts to make a point! The thing I was trying to say is that Keith certainly has lead a more self-destructive life than Mick but I wouldn't say a morally lesser life (than Mick).

Doxa: I understand your point: The times are a changin, as Dylan said. You are always very eloquent. Perhaps the silly thing with Jagger's knighthood isn't the knighthood itself but the fact that he was really striving for it?

Well, George V, I don't think Sir Mick would withstand much more moral scrutiny than Keith: He has seven children with three different women, married twice; sentenced once for drug-related crimes, a known tax exile; doesn't believe in the institution of marriage; known for a promiscuous sexual life-style; has done no military service for his country, etc, etc... .

Rockstar knighthood is an oxymoron. You can't pretend to rebell against society and then accept accolades from the same society. It simply looks ridiculous. I suppose next one in line is Johnny Rotten?

He played steady rock n' roll bass and added a certain toch of flair to it too. He confirmed the Stones as a rock n' roll band. Nowadays they have a bass player who plays funk, which isn't really what the Stones are about.

10465. Re: Stripped
It's a half-baked measure. It's not an acoustic album and not a real live-album (half of the songs are studio-versions). Their version of the Dylan-classic "Like a rolling stone" is stale.

One "warhorse" they never done justice to live is "Start me up", I think. I always prefered the "Tattoo You" studio version.

10467. Re: Stripped
I think "Stripped" was stripped of every emotion. I do remember it recieved quite good reviews at the time, but it meant nothing to me. Sterile, lifeless as it was I would have prefered an ordinary live-album. The sad thing is that when they try to do something different, play rarely played songs and so on, it doesn't work out very well.

I might be the only one but I think "She's the boss" by comparison is the best Jagger album (I never said it was good though), from then on they only got worse. It certainly made the most impact on the contemporary scene compared to the latter ones. I think it went better on the charts too. "Goddess" I listened to once, maybe twice, and never again.

Didn't know that, thanks for the info, Gazza. I have never seen the "Running out of luck"-film in it's entirety (perhaps I'm lucky?) Was it shown in cinemas or sold as VHS?

Must say that I liked the "Lucky in love"-video from "She's the boss" though! It was very "tounge-in-cheek". Due to credentials (or whatever) I'm not allowed to watch it on Youtube in my country, so I can't post it.
