What a stupid article. I'm sure the author thought she was being so clever. But she wasn't.

Silver, Great description of Out of Our Heads (and why it's great). I Also like Aftermath and Let It Bleed. And Exile.

I just can't stand Goats Head Soup. It actually hurts to look at it in a way that the other bad covers (like Flashpoint) don't. I actually like No Security once someone around here explained it to me.

Another vote for MJ. And another vote for Winter being a really great song.

Right Shoe, Thanks for posting this. I've never seen the 11/28 early show version. Sourced from a VHS tape, I presume. -R

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I missed these posts for some reason. I did a little updating to my original post. QuoteI have a question regarding SFM as heard in the GIMME SHELTER movie. To my ear, this sounds like a different performance from the one on Ya-Ya's and different as well from the one found on Shot Of Salvation bootleg. If it is a hybrid, how can one tell this? As

To that point, I was impressed by how nice Keith and Ronnie came off in German's book. Ronnie, I would have guessed, but Keith surprised me.

Can anyone comment on how much of the book is dedicated to matters of history (e.g., what Keith and the boys did between 1965 and 1975)? I'm not interested in reading a book about gossip about his bandmates, but I would like to read about what he remembers from the 1969 American tour. Thanks, R

If you want to browse the offerings, many can be found on youtube on kg441's channel. Note: I am not kg, I just check his channel out everyday to see what's new and am often impressed.

Regarding: "shoegazing" Mick Taylor can make a guitar sing like very few can. But he's no showman. There's no shame in that either. It's just not his style to work the crowd (other than by playing the snot out of his guitar). Charlie's the same way on drums. And, until 1972 Keith was the same way. From every clip of video previous to the 1972 tour, I've never

Quote Sorry, I get confused. You mean video of SFM is 28(1) and audio is 28(2)? No, the deal is that the music and video is from 28(2) until the very end when Jagger picks up his hat and scarf. That part is from 28(1). It takes a sharp eye to spot Keith's blue jacket during this clip (nice job, Eleanor Rigby). Thanks for all of the contributions. And yes, I should add the youtube clips.

Also, for a quick listen, go to rollingstonesnet.com and go to the section on live gems or something like that. There, you'll find audio from the first show. Both shows can be found on YouTube.

I was blown away when I found out that it wasn't Keith on rhythm. "Jagger? Really? I can't be reading that right'" I said to myself. Great track. Love the way the vocals are done. All of the ad libs and what not. -R

I was born much later, but the early Beatles (everything up to and including Help!) were my favorite part of their output. As for the Stones, 12x5 and Aftermath (UK) are my favorite albums of theirs. Also, their singles output rocked. Long, Long While is probably their 20th best song of that era, and it's amazing. -R

I would like to dedicate a thread to covering available video from the 1969 Madison Square Garden shows. Most of you know all this stuff already, but I thought it would be nice to have a central location for all of this information, available for additions and corrections. There were three shows at MSG: one on November 27 and two on November 28 (a. the matinee show, i.e., "the breakfast s

Check out this thread: But the short answer is three. American radio stations use the wide-stereo version that you heard. And for some reason, when it's on radio, the acoustic guitar seems even more prominent. -R

Interesting comments all around. From what I've found, there are essentially three mixes of Satisfaction: a) the classic mono, b) the wide stero posted here (which is commonly used on US radio stations, and was available on some non-US versions of Hot Rocks in the 1990s), and c) the narrow stereo version available on the 2002 abkco remasters of Hot Rocks and Big Hits (but not on Out of Our H

Tele, I love that part too. At around the 35 second part, you can hear a click sound, which is alleged to be the sound of Keith hitting the foot pedal that switched the fuzz box back on.
