QuoteGravityBoy Quotetheanchorman It would seem like he started fooling around with H during the making of Exile... Yep. Just read the relevant pages in Bill's book last night. Mick T was really weirded out and was leaving screwed up notes all over the place that had Bill worried about him. Which book? Stone Alone or Rolling with the Stones? Thanks. -R

The true Scoresese film about the Stones was Gimme Shelter. Unfortunately for Marty, it was made by the Maysles brothers.

The video interviews with Mick and Keith for this release contains some nice comments from Keith about Ronnie, Brian, and Mick Taylor. I transcribed the part about Mick Taylor. Tried to keep the words authentic to the delivery. "Mick Taylor, he was a spectacular lead player. Before that, when I worked with Brian Jones, we was more interlocked. It was more rhythm and lead. There wasn

So that's when Keith was wearing the "Who the -blank- is MJ?" shirt. Mid 70s. Always wondered. -R

Quoterocker1 QuoteReagan So, the show had Allen Klein as manager in July 66. Seems a bit early to me. Anyone know when the ALG/Klein transition happened? -R I couldn't find an exact date, but his NY Times obit, along with a Klein bio on another site, both say he took over their contractual affairs in 1965. NY Times Obit Klein bio Thanks for the info! -R

Quotestraycatblues73 so do they have a multitrack recording apart from the stones one ? or just a non-overdubbed original ? I'd bet money it's the latter.

Mathijs, In a way, I agree with you. When I said they filmed all three MSG shows, I meant they had multiple cameras running during all three shows, not that they obtained usable footage of every song of every show. I seem to recall hearing on the Gimme Shelter commentary that the cameras had 10 or 12 minute film mags, so there would have been a lot of gaps due to film reloading. I have no id

Yeah, the 69 tour was fantastic. The Maysles brothers filmed all three MSG shows. The band taped all three MSG shows and the Baltimore show (Love in Vain on Ya Ya's is note for note the same as the Baltimore bootleg - not an overdub to be found). I would love for all of this material to be made available for sale. Let me start a public plea for the Baltimore version of JJF - it sounds am

Bought the book. Almost finished with it. It's a good read. Definitely has Bobby's voice. A few small errors - nothing major. Wish it was longer. Well worth the money and the time. -Reagan

It's a great book, and Bill's a great guy. One thing about the book that may offer a little perspective, the book is not the inside story of Keith and Ronnie as told by Bill German. It's the inside story of Bill German's life for a decade (or so) where Keith and Ronnie are semi-major characters. Speaking of books, when will Mick Taylor's book be ready? Can't w

Great interview. I liked this quote from Mick, as I think it summarizes his playing style so well: Yeah, yeah. I’d really like to play the guitar like a saxophone player plays a saxophone. To have sort of fluidity, that slow fluidity. -R

Quoteretired_dog Quotedrewmaster A fantastic slice of psychedelia from one of the Stones' most beautiful and under-rated albums. I love the contrast between Bill's vocals and the soaring choruses on this one. Trippy and wonderful. Drew + 1 I am usually not a fan of Bill's vocals, but here it adds a nice flavour to the song that would be missed if Mick had sung lead. Agree

Great stuff. Thanks for all of the pictures and videos. One thing that amazed me was just how great Ronnie was. Charlie, Mick Taylor, Bill were all as good as they ever were, but I can't ever remember hearing Ronnie play this well. Hats off to all of them. Would love to buy an official DVD release of the two shows. -R
