Quotehbwriter QuoteBellajane Quoteparislocksmith Lurid coverage of L'Wren Scott's death shows British tabloids at their worst I was so afraid of this. These bastards have no shame, and it's only the beginning. but it's nothing really new- come on- spectacular celebrity crash and burns have always been tabloid cat nip - why? because the people will pay for it. Quick poll: At the 35 second mark, is that click noise the sound of Keith hitting the pedal to switch the fuzz box on?

Quotepmk251 Keith's song writing is hit and miss and sometimes in the same song. But he adds something that Jagger seems completely unable to achieve...Some emotional honesty, tenderness and vulnerability. Even in the self mythopoeic Happy you are touched when he sings "Baby won't you keep me?" His songs are about something. He likes to play with words. Even his rickety v

Glenn, Great stories. I've noticed that more than once you refer to the difficulty of working with Paul Simon. Will that be a future chapter?

Hi Kleermaker, I agree about the sound quality. Not terrible, just disappointing. As for extras, I like the rehearsal footage. So we got something there. By the way, I noticed that Can't You Hear Me Knockin' from Glastonbury has been deleted from your channel. Did YouTube do that? -R

Quoteshawnriffhard1 This guy William M Smith says Billy Preston opened the evening show in Houston. Is that true? First I've heard of that. Yeah, I thought that was interesting too. And to make matters more confusing, no one of the other papers reviewed the evening show. So, it's not like we could look to them for confirmation.

As you all know, four concerts (the two Ft. Worth shows and the two Houston shows) from the 1972 tour were filmed for Ladies and Gentlemen... The Rolling Stones. I'm from Houston, so these shows have always intrigued me. Unfortunately, I was still in diapers in the summer of 1972, so I couldn't attend. The shows were in Hofheinz Pavilion (the same venue where I saw Madonna on her 198

I like his work on Sweet Virginia the best. Great solo and great fills. It's like he's playing the part Mick Taylor usually plays, but on sax.

My favorites: Love In Vain on Ya Ya's. I heard an audience boot of this from the Baltimore '69 show, and it was note-for-note identical. Not a single overdub for anyone. I still can't believe that this brilliance was just a one-off. Street Fighting Man on Ya Ya's. It's the sweet fills that make it for me. Plundered My Soul. I know this is a controversial choice,

Quotetatters The problem with the Eagles isn't that their songs are overplayed. The problem is that their music is completely devoid of even the slightest shred of passion. I still turn up the volume whenever JJF comes on the radio, and I've heard it probably a couple thousand times. Can't think of a single Eagles song that doesn't cause me to change the station. Ditto for Fle

I think Slave is a great example of why a discussion of classic Stones grooves is different from best songs. I would never put Slave anywhere near my favorite song list, but they really do hit that groove toward the end. Here's two more that hit me: Heartbreaker on Brussel's Affair 100 Years Ago, right after the "call me lazybones" part Thanks for all of your contr

Good ones. Thanks for the contributions. The mention of Bitch reminded that they hit a nice one during the instrumental jam on it on L&G. It's the highlight of the show.

I vote not legit. Timing seems a little off. A couple of notes are off - clearly wrong (compared to what's on Sticky Fingers).

Jimmy Miller is quoted as saying that his job was to help the band find a groove. We could try to define what a groove is, but I thought it might be more interesting if we list songs with a good, Jimmy Miller-style groove. I'll get the ball rolling with a couple of nominees: Little Queenie on Ya Yas (the last minute or so is where it really gets rolling) Good Time Women on extended ve

Just some amazing research. Nice work. One question, is that really Tony Funches? It doesn't look like him to me, but the picture isn't all that clear. And I'm kind of bad with faces. -R

A few iTunes comments for Windows users. iTunes will let you covert the AAC files to whatever format you want. Just do some sort of an Internet search for "iTunes convert mp3" or any variation thereof for instructions. iTunes will also let you burn an audio cd. Tracks bought through iTunes do not have any drm (as of 2009). You can find the tracks you downloaded in a fold

Quotekleermaker Quoteopen-g QuoteSpud To those more savvy than I with regard to the music media market... ...does this i-tunes release make it more or less likely that we'll get a DVD/Blu Ray at some point in the not too distant future ? Sure. first they milk the audio only market. later it's DVD/BluRay in 3D and standard. Funny thing: you can't buy MR as a separate song,

Swiss, I think we're on the same wavelength. When I first watched Gimme Shelter, the two people who stood out to me were Keith and Tony. And Mel Belli, but that's because Belli was such a clown. Keith and Tony had a presence. Here's a few things I'd like to read about in Tony's book: How did the get the initial job with the Stones? How did he move from guarding th

Quotewinter And when was the last time that an audible crowd roar swept thru the arena because of the musical high from a guitar solo at a Stones' show (vs the 'performance' of, as noted by 24fps) like that version of CYHMK? You nailed it. The crowd response took it to whole other level.

QuoteThrylan Everyone raves about the solo, but to me, CYHMK is all about that wicked Keith riff, that he is a bit suspect on at times. I pretty much agree. I love the solo, but my favorite parts are the opening riff and the second chorus, with its call-and-response (Jagger's not singing it, he's shouting it). I know that the second chorus will never sound right on stage because the v
