Vox are pretty good at it, just my opinion. The first 5 amp setting on the DA5 are all very useable (especially the AC15 and AC-30 T , the high gain amps are not so good, I never play that kind of stuff anyway.

The best neck pickup I ever put in a Tele was a Lindy Fralin Blues Special. It was sweet.

The Mighty Boosh. "What would Mick Jagger do..." This started my love for the Boosh.

Don't swop guitars, buy a VOX DA5 and change the amp model, DI into the soundcard. Actually there's lots of amp modelling out there, but I think the Vox DA5 is simple and perfect. (Yeah I know people will go on about micing up real valve amps and in an ideal world that's what I would do. But I've got neighbours...)

I did this. It's kinda based on the great alternative version the Stones did as a video promo.

I don't know about pubs. I'm in Venice at the moment and yesterday I was walking past a trinket booth in St Paul's Square when I heard an acoustic guitar from inside the booth. "That sounds familiar" says I. This young Italian man with young Mick Taylor hair about 20 years old is playing a very nice verion of the one and only Brown Sugar. I was only posting about Brown

QuoteFreeBird QuoteTumblin_Dice_07"Brown Sugar" never really worked live? Wow, never thought I'd hear that. Have you heard any of the performances from '72/'73? Certainly. Especially the intro just can't touch the Muscle Shoals recording. The first two chords of the Muscle Shoals recording are the greatest guitar sound ever recorded. They had pretty good go at

QuoteHis MajestyRegarding Keith playing it using Open G, I don't think he hits the low root note of the D chord, only playing the 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings which is easily achieved on standard tuned guitar. That's the way I do it in standard. Bar B chord at 7th and the D is 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings also at the 7th. Doesn't have that bluesy bendy slur thing though.

QuoteKirkBut what does Taylor play (1969 for example)? I mean along Keith's rhythm. I thing he goes B to A, same as Bill. I don't know, but I know what Brian Jones played in one of the videos miming to alternative studio B to A version, He played standard tuning B to A. Bar B chord at the 7th. E note (open on 6th sting) F# note (with thumb 6th string) A chord open position.

I wish I could read. I was at the 17th May 1976 gig (not the 18th). The first of two Stafford New Bingley Hall gigs. They didn't play Brown Sugar TWO nights running. I can't find a set list for the 17th though. Keith crashed his car after the 18th gig.

I just found a website where I can buy a 2 disc CD of all of this very concert 18th May 1976 (it includes JJF but no BS). There are sound samples as well! Sounds nearly as bad as I remember it. SFTD was an encore at Earls Court.

QuoteFreeBird I thought they played Jumpin' Jack Flash at every concert since its release... When I was looking for the setlist the the frayed website was the first one I read. I think now it's wrong, but there was definitely no Brown Sugar. QuoteWell, anyway, I wouldn't be too disappointed about the lack of Brown Sugar. That's just one of those songs that, to my ears, neve

Because I discovered the Bible and The Stones were a guilty secret. But now I have undiscovered the Bible so we're cooking on gas gas gas again.

The studio version - B to A or The (eventual) live version - B to D? And when and why did Keith change it? I can't decide which is best, he seems to bend the D chord on the live version which is cool.

Actually I am 100% certain they didn't do Brown Sugar (my favourite Stones track and the greatest guitar sound known to man) - I couldn't believe it. They may have done JJF - seriously - it would have been hard to tell with the up-tempo numbers the sound was THAT bad. It was 35 years ago so my memory is slightly dimmed (but not about BS because I remember the disappointment)! I

Hello everyone, long time lurker first time post. I've only ever seen the Stones once at the first Stafford Bingley Hall in 1976 (Keith crashed the car on the way home to London after the next nights gig). The night I saw them they didn't do Brown Sugar or Jumpin Jack Flash. I was so disappointed. Here is the set list from that night. DATE: 5/18/76 Venue: New Bingley Hall
