I agree with you, Proudmary - the book sounds promissing. Rockjournalists way to take Keith´s perception for granted and to idolize the man has needed balancing for decades.

the snippets sound interesting! I will look forward to the the single - and the album in september. But I also hope to get some news about when SG is published (the estemate was september too, wasn't it?).

QuoteLillithFlair Hi, newbie here. Interesting reading on this forum. Now as I'm new feel free to take this or leave it but I was lucky enough to work with the Stones tour a few years ago. I was a fan since I've been a kid, but during that time I really grew to respect the organization and the people they have working for them directly. I had virtually no direct contact w/ the b

I loved it. And I still think it's marvelous. Like the whole album (except Lies, which I quickly grew tired of).

QuoteDoxa Quotewhitem8 It would have been so much better if Mick would actually let someone produce it! And if they would have steered clear of the digital tools, and went more analog. Not a terrible disc and as a whole probably better than Steel Wheels and Voodoo, but I prefer Bridges over ABB.... As far as Keith's account goes in LIFE, Jagger would have really mixed and probably even re

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quote71Tele QuoteCousinC Great song! Especially the studio version. The Brussels version took it to a whole other level. Unbelievable that it has never been officially released. A crime. Maybe Mick wasn't too happy about the vocals, which were a masterpiece on the original recording, imo. Yes, that sounds like a reasonable explanation. But of course I hope they

Of course it doesn't match Wandering sprit, but it's his second best. I listen to it regularly - the first seven tracks that is. These seven tracks are rather magnificent - and marks an interesting difference to Stones-output. I think Goddess is a brave experiment - and yes much underrated.

QuoteRocky Dijon "Angel Eyes" was a counterfeit. It's not any of the Stones, just soundalikes. I think it might actually be listed as "Angel Girl" on the boot I heard it from. When it first circulated I thought it was going to be "Zip Mouth Angel" but the bootleggers insist it was a GOATS HEAD SOUP outtake. You are correct that they worked in a bit of "M

Quote71Tele Quotebolexman There is also a great alternative version of Silver Train from the GHS sessions, found on bootlegs, I like it better than the official cut. From this thread it sounds like a GHS bonus could be stronger than the Exile bonus Much stronger, as there really weren't many "true" Exile tracks besides "Good Time Women", alt. "Loving Cup" and

QuoteDoxa QuoteErik_Snow I found his autobiography to be real explendid - got a renewed respect for the man. Can't understand why some folks choose to judge the book and Keith harshly because of his critisism againts Jagger and Jones. Well, I lost - whatever there was still left - all the respect for the man (the person). The Jagger and Jones bashing does not really matter because that

Most of those songs are situated just before the relation breaks - or after. And therefore they are not nice portraits of the nicest girl in the world (the table's turning/ now her turn to cry/ I used to love her, but it's all over now). Or they might be versions of Fairy tale charaters - like in Stray Cat Blues where MJ impersonates the wolf and the girl little red riding hood.

He was great in Performance. I had the worst exspectations before I watched Ned Kelly, but didn't think it was a disaster at all and he did okay I think. But Freejack was very bad indeed. The Man In the Elysian Fields was not as astonishing a film as Performance, but Jagger did well. Bent and The Nightingale I will look forward to see. I didn't notice him in the Bank Job.

QuoteBlueranger We can with no doubt expect 'finished' tracks ala Exile's bonuses. The Stones will not present half-baked backing tracks with mumbled vocals. I enjoy every second of the Exile bonus disc, mainly because we are pesented with finished songs. I don't care for tracks for which I have to imagine: 'Oh, that would have sounded nice if they put a vocal on

QuoteDoxa A parody of what - well, of this little, innocent, natural figure who once shocked and conquered the world and with whom Mick Jagger has had difficulties to cope - or grow - with ever since: It is funny to think how "little" young and vital Jagger needs to do in order to be impressive in compared to the hyper-physicality and energy of Grammy show. Plus one can hear wh

QuoteEdward Twining QuoteDoxa QuoteStoneage Of course you are right, Doxa. But what can we expect from a 66-year rock and roll-singer? I wish he would get a better voice-coach though (if he has one). He shouldn't sing so much through his nose. By being critical here I feel like being committed to the same sin of having too big expectations as I have been accused being in the case of Keith&

QuoteDoxa Honestly, I'm not so thrilled as many here. I think the intersting and capturing thing - unfortunately - in Mick's performance is just the age card - "for his age" his dancing is incredibly energetic, and his physical presence defies the aging process. Well, for long the age factor has worked nicely for him, and makes him unique. He seemingly knows that what is his b

QuoteMarie QuoteDoxa Quotestupidguy2 Excellent comments Doxa. I used to shy away from commenting on Marianne and Anita and how I really saw them, for caution I might be cast out of some elite level fandom, as if blaspheming some two-headed Goddess of Stonesdom. I respect their intelligence, and as a female, I admire thier female presence in a male-dominated circle...but you make a great point:

QuoteDoxa Quotekees \I think it is a bad joke to add new lyrics and/or guitars to outtakes from the vault. And than to keep foggy what has really been done in the studio. Better had not released these EOM vaults is my opinion. Luckily there are Bruce and Dylan who really know how to please their hard core fans. There have been wonderful contributions in this thread already which show that

Quotecc QuoteDoxa Jagger ... The guy who publicly talks about music indeed, things like his BBC jukebox and the blues playlist he's just done on Rolling Stone show him to be still quite passionate and discriminating about music (not chasing club trends as keith would have it... though his own solo stuff is of course disappointingly bland for the most part). I was disapointed by She

I think the songs and the procuction (the sound) of BTB is more coherent than ABB, but I think the highlights on ABB equals the highlights on BTB. When I listen to the three albums now, I find VL the weakest. Good, but to my ears not with as strong highlights as BTB and ABB.

My mind haven't changed about it. I think the best of the tracks stands the test of time. It won't take long, Rain fall down, Oh no not you again and Laugh I nearly died are my four favorites, but I also like Rough justice, Let me down slow, Biggest mistake, Sweet Neo-Con, Driving too fast and Infamy (the best Keef-delievery since Before they make me run). I think the stones could make
