Maybe best to compare this, and any other 2012 warm-ups, to the Toronto-Phoenix, Archive show. I think Ronnie sounds great. I miss Mick Taylor about as much as I miss Brian Jones; which is to say, not at all.

Wow. The generalization on this board, at times, is astounding. I think the "Vegas" moniker is bulls@#t to begin with, but to make the statement that every Stones performance since 1989 lacks passion is astoundingly idiotic. And, it says more about the person who feels that way than it does about the Stones. Much, much more.

Regardless of ticket prices, what percentage of Stones "fans" have a chance to attend the 4 shows in NJ and London? I'll give you a clue; it's a statistically irrelevant percentage. Which is why the whining over ticket prices is so inane. If they tour in 2013 with these ticket prices, the whining would make more sense. Maybe it's time to take a step back, and a d

So...if someone "buys in" they aren't a "discriminating fan"? What a puerile form of self aggrandizement! So, now the "true" fans have given up on the band? Try making sense at some point, please. And, good Lord! There are people still comparing the Stones with the Beatles? That is just....a comical waste of energy.

Why does it have to be one way or the other? Maybe they love playing together and they want to make a ton of money while they're at it. I don't understand how ticket prices can effect the way someone feels about a band; especially one they profess to "love". The Rolling Stones owe their fans absolutely nothing. If they go out on the stage in November and December and pla

Oh, boo-hoo; this doesn't sound like the Rolling Stones the way I've chosen to define them, so I'm gonna (sob)....I'm gonna (sob)....I'm gonna....go on IORR and register my incredibly predictable, narrow minded, self absorbed complaint. (typetypetypetype) There....now I feel all better.

Or, you could just say, "Ooops! I guess I need to listen to 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' a little more closely". Unless you knew the song purported to be 'Doom and Gloom' was actually 'Citadel'; either way, I found your post to be hilarious. One could certainly make the argument that one of the many maladies humanity suffers from is the inability

I think this makes a twisted form of perfect sense. What continues to amaze me is how many IORRians think bands like these are "cooking" or "hot" or "on fire". I fail to see how anyone can think this swings AND be a Rolling Stones fan. That said, good to see Taylor so upbeat.

I would not pretend to know any truth other than my own. I really enjoy the Beatles, and went through an "obsessed" period when I was 11 or 12. It all changed for me when I first really listened to Midnight Rambler on Let it Bleed. That was it. I didn't listen to any other band for months.

Speaking of critical judgement, let's face it, the Stones rocked harder in '94, '95, '97, '98, '99, '02, '03, '05 and '06 than they did in '89/'90. Waayyyyyyyy harder. Obviously, there was a tectonic shift in the band's live sound between '82 and '89, but the Steel Jungle tour was inexcusably slick and awful and Wyman c

Wait a second....an enormously popular musical act that has been around for 5 decades contradicted itself?!? What is this world coming to? Seriously people.....get a grip. (Or, a Grrrrrrrrip...as the case may be.)

Wow....a man who feels he has a monopoly on the truth? And, he seems to firmly believe that any opinion differing from his own in infantile. That's a quality example of hypocrisy in action. Why don't you go pout and stomp around your parents basement until sleepy time comes....

Here's what I think. Here's what I think. I think this. And a little bit of that. And some of this, too. These are my opinions which I am stating with authority in order to give them an air of truth. Ron Wood this. Mick Taylor that. I think this, but I couldn't imagine that. Horns. Vegas. My opinion. More of my opinion. Aside acknowledging differing opinions. Now my opinion repe

I don't envy the Taylor fans out there; especially the rabid, delusional ones. Listening to the Rolling Stones for the past 38 years, all the while thinking that something is missing, must be a real drag. Thankfully, I'm a Ronnie Wood fan. Love MT, too, but don't miss him a bit.

"Tournaments" like this based on polling are so reductive, they veer toward a sort of sublime hilarity. People who take them even the least bit seriously should be permanently isolated from the rest of society.

Jagger's look in '81 is absolutely iconic. I find it hilarious that people would retroactively question it's effectiveness 31 years later. Seriously...you sound like my Grandpa did in 1981. Have a nice stay at the home.

"....But if I had to come up with the thing that sticks in my mind most about being on the road, it would have to be being on the Stones stage on a night when they are so unbelievably ON. Usually during a show I’m not really paying attention to it. My mind is on the next song and getting the guitars ready for 4 or 5 minutes from now. I’m always thinking ahead. But sometimes I’ll stop for a s

Jack White is amazing. I really don't understand how anyone could listen to the work he did with Loretta Lynn and say that he "wants to be leading role of everything". That record kicks butt. And it was certainly the best thing Lynn had released in decades. His new solo album is great, his new tour is great, and the fact that he names Undercover as his favorite song is refreshin

The title of the thread makes it b.s.. This has been discussed roughly 9,000,000 times on this, and other, Stones boards. To bring up Milli Vanilli in the context of this topic just shovels more b.s. onto the heap. But, whatever.....you still have inane questions, so feel free to keep asking!

This is clearly how it goes when it comes to officially released live recordings since 2002: Blondie goes into the studio under deep cover and overdubs Keith's parts. Then, the next night, Keith sneaks in and overdubs over what he thinks are his own, original, tracks, but are actually Blondie's overdubs. Hence the confusion.

Wait...because they flubbed the beginning of JJF in Japan, the whole tour was crap? That logic seems both pre-determined and short sighted to me. I mean, did the '81 tour blow because of Street Fighting Man in Philadelphia? Did the She's So Cold debacle in '82 mean that the entire European tour was horrible? The Stones make mistakes, thank God. If they didn't, they wouldn&#

QuoteJustin I thought all the insanity would be over now that the show is over...now we gotta deal with ridiculous posts on hidden messages and subliminal suggestions by Mick as he performed? Sweet Moses...are we honestly THAT desperate for a tour? Why in the world Mick Jagger--a guy who has gone on record saying to never predict or make future plans in public---go on SNL and drop a hint saying
