QuoteHis Majesty In mid - late 60's he had a feel and flow to his playing that seemes to have disappeared by late 70's and things like that exaggerated hi hat thing came in and he became kinda more jerky. X2 And Charlie's fills in this clip - although fun to watch - are awful...

Quotefranzk I think that Hyde Park '69 was their bravest the most anti-warhorse setlist ever. Given the circumstances (free show, first time in years, so many people in the audience) that was really something: 1. I'm Yours And I'm Hers - a cover, never played before (and after) 2. JJF - fairly new song, not a warhorse yet 3. No Expectations - not a warhorse 4. Mercy Mercy - q

Quotepaulm I get the Nirvana legend, and the high energy he brings, but does anyone else find the Grohler's incessant leg stomping, head banging, interminable power chord noise too much? Yes sir

QuoteVT22 QuoteRedhotcarpet Well I know how to play guitar and I'm pretty damn good but some solos are hard to nail. This one isnt really and it shouldnt cause it's just very standard rock blues solo. Still Ronnies style, which almost isnt a style, is often filled with "extra" notes if you know what I mean. Very rhythm based and not fluid or jazzy or melodic. That's a

QuoteErik_Snow They hired the wrong guys for making this documentary-movie, obviously. The makers obviously had never seen "bootleg videos" before and thought that it was "exciting stuff". But it ain't. The whole movie sucks. And the people not knowing anything about "boot videos" probably won't bother to buy Crossfire Hurricane either. What a piss-poor e

Quotewith sssoul They played the early US shows live but the UK shows went from mimed to live and back to mimed, so it's really not that clearcut. The explanation I've read for the decision to start miming US TV was indeed the fact that it gave them better control over the sound. (Listen to what the Ed Sullivan sound people did with the fuzz guitar on Satisfaction - no wonder the

Mick Taylor's playing is flawless and fluent, and so is his tone. Even a Charlie missing a few bars doesn't bother me...this performance is so hot!!

Maybe Charlie wasn't drumming like a robot in 1969... I often listen to Gimme Shelter (the movie) with my headphones and especially Jumping Jack Flash is so powerful and has got an enormous 'drive' (thank you Charlie)... We discussed this before by the way...is it groove, swing, etc...?

Quotemitchmitchell I thought it had been written by Jagger/Richards. Actually it was a London release by a singer I had never heard of before. Pretty good version. Wow! New for me... Not a long time ago I found out that Down Home Girl is from this guy:

QuoteDandelionPowderman He went from pubs to the O2 Arena, and probably felt that he needed to add something extra to his performance. I wasn't at the second show, but seemingly he did less posing and more focused playing on that gig, judging from the YT-clips. Give a few more gigs, and he'll be fine, imo. Taylor got better and better on their 1969 US tour too...so let's wa
