Okay then, once again, I must ask, what defines a "true fan." I think spending a grand on a pair of tickets qualifies. Maybe its our musical tastes that really suck. Perhaps most of the concert attendees are not impressed by the new music and feel no need to buy it. I am a "true fan" of a lot of artists but that doesn't mean I will buy just anything regardless of quality.

I must admit I am shocked at the responses here. What kind of loser cant spend ten grand on a lousy concert? C'mon this is THE STONES we are talking about here. Of COURSE they are worth it at ANY cost, even if they aren't playing in your living room just for you.

I call bullshit that this guy spoke with many disappointed people. I didn't see any disappointed faces. I didn't poll the crowd but thats definitely not the vibe I got. Also I am sick of hearing that because you are die hard fans that you deserve something more than the other people there. The great thing about being in a band with such widespread and enduring popularity as the Stone

They passed that hump in their career where people just arent interested in new music. Very few artists of their age and stature sell new music anymore. The biggest moneymakers for classic rock acts is touring, catalog sales (i.e. not new releases) and film licensing, advertising etc. It might be worth mentioning that the quality of the new songs on 40 Licks (which should have been a straight

I had a harder time coming up with the money for Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge tickets than I did for the last few tours. Also in high school it was tough to scrounge up $40 so me and my girlfriend could go see some metal arena show. Seems like when I got a job and started making money was when the prices started skyrocketing. Now, whether I have the money or not $350 just isnt worth it. But its

Its all a matter of perception. If anything makes you feel the same way you did when you first heard Satisfaction, then thats it. Cant say I listen to much new music but in the last 10 years, Rammstein and Supergrass had almost the same effect. Probably some other stuff that I cant really think about, not in the mood to dissect my whole collection.

Absolutely NOT! And before anybody gets too enraged over what the broker is asking, the ticket will likely be sold for less, they always push it to the highest possible price just in case anybodoy out there really IS that stupid.

The energy level of the crowd really waned at the 3 hour Bruce show I saw. Also judging from all the people sitting down during YCAGWYW in Fresno, perhaps the shows should be 18 songs/100 mins? Long shows sound great on bootlegs but can be really tedious to actually endure in person.

I said enough is enough quite a while back. Didn't think it would get any better than No Security. Then Licks came along and I scored a theatre ticket and went to 7 others. Wasnt too interested in this tour either but was able to go to a few shows on my own terms (cheap, free etc). I have seen a few dozen "last shows " so everything else is just gravy. I don't feel any need or

Yeah I have seen the gig from similiar perspectives before. From the 2nd row behind the stage in Denver on the No Security tour when they still did the full 360 seating, before the slow song segment Keith was staring intently at the setlist right next to Charlie while his tech was talking in his ear. But he was looking at the setlist like he hadn't seen it before.

Simple solution - dont go to more than one show. Don't follow the setlists on the internet. Then everything will be a surprise. Oh - I have been to over 500 concerts and NO show has ever been worth anywhere near $450. At least not to me. Gawd bless anyone who ever spent that much AND felt they got their money's worth.

I will have to dig out Atlanta again. My friend taped it. For decades he was unaware of the trading scene and that so many people recorded gigs. He actually taped the recent Anaheim and Bowl shows too. Still very active.

A friend was looking at some scans of tickets on my web site, the high priced ones (which I paid abut 1/4 face for) and this was his comment (though he isnt much of a Stones fan): "i wouldn't pay 1/20th to see any of those shows. people in their 40s who drive the concert business to these extremes should be deafened with a pointed stick for their crimes against good sense."

Most people only go to one show. Most people don't obsessively follow the setlists on the internet. Most people are satisfied if they hear many of their favorite songs.

Once I get that bitter taste in my mouth, I spit out whatever is causing it and find something else to go chomp on. It wont kill you not to go, especially if you feel as if you are getting something less than what you expect for your money.

I think Mick's business sensibilities would be more offended by people who give recordings away than those who sell them.

Don't forget the fact that Mick can't do back to back shows anymore. More like 3 shows a week. So they have to gross more per gig to keep the show on the road. I am sure many expected the Stones would have lost their popularity by now and be playing clubs, theatres and the occassional BB King Blues festival but it didn't happen that way. Oh - and supply and demand works both way

I LOVE bootleg DVDs, when I first started to collect them, they were a great substitute for the concert experience itself. I would rather stay home and watch them in the comfort of my own home than the hassle and expense of attending a concert. And Charlie Is My Darlin' - I don't think a few setlist or ticket price whiners on the internet constitutes "many disappointed fans,&quo

They do it because its their job and its what makes them their money. Ego gratification of thousands of people screaming for them can't be discounted and the fact that those people are paying 2.5 - 5.9 million a gig just compounds that. Now that I did it much better than I could have ever imagined, I should say I am glad they do it because **I** love it and I only wish I had more money t

I applaud the loyalty of Stones fans. $300 million from people who go not to enjoy themselves or revel in the moment, but out of some misplaced sense of obligation. All these people spending way too much money to subject themselves to all these dreadful songs that for some stupid reason ended up being the Stones biggest hits. Why? You people are just way too loyal.
