Razzle getting into a car with Vince Neil Michael Monroe's insult to injury anti promotional tour of Japan in 1992 (though the concept sure was funny!)

-Motley Crue firing Vince Neil (I love the album without him but it didn't do good business) -Mick Taylor leaving the Stones -Billy Squier's "Rock Me Tonight" video -David Lee Roth leaving Van Halen (compounded by a light pop sound on his 2nd solo album)

Someone posted on the Metal Sludge board that Richie Kotzen is opening but it seemed really odd to me. Not only do the Stones not usually have opening acts in Japan but its seems most big concerts I have ever heard of in Japan are just one act only.

Its a great closing song - can beat the rush on the way out.

thats how people are supposed to act. Unless someone in the section is taping, then no one is supposed to make a sound. And you are supposed to just *know* when to be quiet. Part of the problem though is that concerts just arent loud enough anymore.

I got so many boots from the 03 Licks tour that were totally dreadful I just stopped collecting.

It would be a great B stage song.

I'd love to see Motley Crue jam with the Stones.

Actually I have boots of Cheap Trick in 86 opening for Motley Crue and I could definitely believe they were the better of the 2 bands those nights. Would love to see them open for the Stones but don't think it will ever happen.

Thankfully I was out of town with no internet access when the onstage boxes went on sale. I think the fact that it was free made it that much more enjoyable. For now I kinda wish I knew more about the layout and perhaps tried to bring my recorder along and stand right by the PA stack on the far right.

Out of the ones I have seen, Solomon Burke, Living Colour, Guns N Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

For me the experience was totally amazing. I thought I would never again be truly excited about a Stones show. Great, loud blaring guitar, even for Miss You! Of course I didn't pay a thing, a friend used a fan club code (after selling back his ticket) and won them. Not sure if they would be worth $250 then again except for the first few rows a stadium gig isn't worth more than $20 to me

My mom is throwing a Super Bowl party. I am going for the beer. Will try not to pass out before the Stones come on. Football is pretty boring unless there is some sort of serious injury which makes it only slightly interesting.

Don't forget to throw in the opening riff and guitar solo from YGMR.

The Stones have been an oldies act since 1981. Or maybe even since 1978 when they got bad reviews for not doing an oldies set.

I'd have to say they are both quite obviously nostalgia tours, the only difference to me is that I would actually like the Stones to play new songs.

Are we talking about the same band that shared a stage with Justin Timberlake? I think I said what I meant to say perfectly.

Seems the shows were very inconsistent, some great and some absolutely dreadful. This is just going by the boots I heard, I didn't catch the tour myself.

Sounds like nostalgia to me. Not that there is anything wrong with that, its been the driving force behind the concert industry for decades. And legacy is an arbitrary term that probably means little to anyone but ex presidents.

The fact that the choice of Motley Crue as an opener is greeted with such venom rather than the usual indifference means the Stones made the right choice. Seems they are compelling people to start posts about it every few days. To the whiners, stay home or in the parking lot until they are over, you wont be missed!

You are right about the sad old hacks part though they still put on a helluva show. Glad to help, just wanted to let you know what you might be in for if you are serious about throwing things (not to mention if any Motley Crue fans are in the immediete vicinity).

"Meanwhile Michael Talbert, the Dallas soundman allegedly assaulted by Vince Neil the night before Halloween, speaks to the press about the incident for the first time. After motioning for more guitar volume, Vince allegedly ran across the stage, leaped onto the soundboard and swung at the soundman. It seems he first tried to kick Talbert, but missed, before striking him with a "closed

Detroit is actually one of the biggest concert markets in the country. Bands on the corndog and club circuit often play to 10-15,000 when they roll through town. Maybe with all the great concerts to choose from people don't want to spend almost $500 to sit on the back of a floor of a stadium?

Yeah go ahead and throw shit at them. You might be in for an ass kicking in front of 70,000 people. (Vince and Tommy never shy away from a fight). That alone might be worth the price of admission.
