Finally some relevant content here. And it's hilarious. "You're holding the mic stupid" The way rappers, who are mumbling and lipsyncing anyway has spread to other genres to the bane of sound crew everywhere. Or even rappers who are trying to actually rap. 20 years ago I read something about a Whisky A Go Go soundman getting into it with Ice-T. "If you don't h

QuoteNashvilleBlues QuoteBig Al One More Shot is certainly OK, but Doom & Gloom is terrific, in my opinion. At least, I thought it was upon release. This is the thing: ‘classic’ Stones, I’ll forever revisit, but anything later gets overlooked. I guess you can’t beat their prime. That’s what they’ll be remembered for. It’s the same with Blue & Lonesome. I listened to it repeatedly in the i

QuoteBeastyBurdeny Pretty tough pill to swallow, at a thousand + a ticket. Service fees will be 200-300 per ticket too. Was hoping they'd be $500 tops, but the demand would be even higher at that price. Anyway, hope someone gets some good recordings/videos I wouldn't be surprised if a much smaller allotment actually went on sale as I am not sure if there are even 900 people ready to s

QuoteBeastyBurdeny Registered for Neil Young + Crazy Horse at the Roxy but didn't get picked to purchase tickets. Anyone get lucky? Don't worry, not fishing for a spare ticket--just curious if anyone is going. I didn't bother once I saw the prices but I might go down there with a few hundred anyway and see what happens.

QuotePaintMonkeyManBlack Not sure GnR will be fine. 1 star reviews regarding their show in the Netherlands this week. They are hit and miss. Some people just don't get their presentation and they also have serious pacing issues. Like a great 100 min set buried in 3 hours.

Quotegeorgie48 QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteMathijs Ask Jimmy Rip. Jagger really was planning on touring behind Wandering Spirit, he had the band ready, but he was not supported by the record company. Jagger's 1988 tour wasn't a financial success, and whereas Jagger wanted to tour the big stadiums, the record company felt he only could do a much smaller arena tour like Keith did. Jagger want

Quotegotdablouse Didn't the 2007 tour end with empty sections ? The Stade de France was pretty tarped according to reports I read. Maybe that was blamed on Cohl ? The Rolling Stones regularly played to empty seats since the Voodoo Lounge tour. All part of the biz.

QuoteDoxa QuoteMathijs I think the emphasis on how great Mick is as a businessman is hugely overblown. For the Stones the market is huge, there's only a few promotors that can do these big tours, so negotiating a good deal isn't all that difficult. Mick found out himself that a sell-to market is more important than being a good businessman -he wasn't able to get his solo 1988 Euro

Quotedcba QuoteGasLightStreet It's absolute fantasy that you think Keith has zero to do with the Stones' finances. I think Keith is totally clueless when it comes to basic daily things, and even more or so about managing the band™. I remember reading a 99 interview where he said he gave a 50 quid tip to a London taxi driver and the person who was with him had to tell him it was

Quotepowerage78 After months of backlash about their headline slot, Guns N’ Roses finally take to the stage at Glastonbury 2023 and deliver one of their strongest sets in recent years. The only pity? It’s to the wrong crowd. Wrong crowd? You mean there was a misprint on the schedule and everyone thought they were gonna see someone else? Edited to add: Chinese Democracy -> Slither ?

Watching Wizkid now. Not quite as spectacular as his jam packed Novo gig in Oct 2021 but entertaining just the same. Also watched the Pretenders and most of Elton. Going to try for GNR, rest of Elton and Lizzo tonight.

The only thing keeping this from being a true greatest hits album are the garbage new songs. They seem so lazy and lacking in effort. Replacing them with Harlem Shuffle, She's So Cold and Like A Rolling Stone would be an improvement but I haven't even listened to it since 2002 so I can't even say for sure what's on it. Don't Stop is kinda catchy but also there are s

Ivan Neville on Keith Richards From the Lefsetz podcast, a very detailed interview but Bob asks him "what the story with Keith Richards" at 101:05 mark and he talks a bit about him but the whole interview is great. I also noticed he is on the Dopey podcast where he talks a lot about his drug experiences but talks a bit about Keith and the Stones including Giants Stadium 1994

QuoteTopi Come to think of it, Revvy on rocksoff.org talked about a few promotional gigs this year... Revvy was also insisting all along the rumors of a tour this year were completely made up. This album isn't going to sell millions or possibly even hundreds of thousands so there isn't going to be much of a promotional budget. Even smaller promotional gigs would still require gre

After saying that Bruce and the band want to continue touring, he said that future touring plans are limited by: “Availability of a limited amount of venues, hotels, planes, trucks, buses, cars, crewmembers, staging, sound systems, lights, video screens, etc, et

QuoteTheBluesHadaBaby So concert tickets' soaring prices of just the past few years are being felt by more than just us, the bulging bank accounts of some music superstars, Ticketmonarch/LiveNation's wealth and industry dominance... and I'm sure performers down the pecking order have to be benefitting at least some as well, from the wave of money we're pouring into live music.

QuoteNashvilleBlues ^ I stick by what I said. If bands cared more about the fan experience, you would be able to tell. Fan experiences are usually better in smaller places. The stadium show is a cash grab. It’s obvious for most. The Ryman vs Nissan Stadium? No contest. Acts can't necessarily control the fans. See Aaron Lewis. Sometimes only a stadium can accommodate the fan base. I h

QuoteNashvilleBlues If a new tour ever happens, how much do you guys think PIT tickets will be? I doubt they will still be $500 in 2024. I’m guessing they’ll go up at least $100. I don’t care because I’ll get LDs, but just wondering… Just a tour bus is $60,000 a month now minimum. How many does their crew require? Classic rock audiences are starting to fade fast too so they gotta make up the
