Exile overrated? Sure. Just like puppies, sunsets, and oral sex.

The obvious reason Mick Taylor is not saying anything himself is that he doesn't want to jeopardize future opportunities with the Stones. As someone pointed out, this is not an even power relationship.

QuoteDoomandGloom This is a bad president attacking people instead of the music itself. Taylor is great at only one thing, playing guitar. Ronnie is a genius socialite, rock star. I have little doubt if he were left to his own skill there would be better music but he understands the stage politics. Taylor does not, plays each note like it is his last, he has no reverence to this band, never has

QuoteNaturalust The actual Taylor quotes that got me thinking were these: (probably a repeat from somewhere back in these 115 pages) He tells Mojo magazine, "I was actually in rehab, to be honest, for 35 days, and I kind of got shanghai'd (forced) out of there onto the stage." Asked if the course of treatment had been a "stipulation" from the band, Taylor replies, &

Quoteleatherjacket Ron has had his 40 years joining in last week. Taylor had about 5 years and everybody is talking taylor over and over again. he wouldN't fit in anymore, not basta. Why is that? It's because the output in the five years far surpasses that of the 40.

Keith was often a great soloist. Not only SFTD, but the Berry tunes on YaYas are very nice. He has long ago lost that fluidity though.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Keith: "I'm pretty lousy, but together with Ronnie I'm better than ten". One of the many myths he has propagated through the years. Does he enjoy playing with Ronnie? Obviously. Is he better? I have seen no evidence of that in 40 years.

QuoteHearMeKnockin Did you get his autograph? No. One time he was complaining about sushi and the other he was at a lunch counter in NY complaining about something to this agent on his cell phone.

That may be indeed true, DP, but not germane to the context of the quotes. Ronnie was specifically talking about playing Taylor's parts. Not sure what Keith was talking about exactly, but he did mention going into the studio after the tour. That quote could have been in any article from the last 20 years, Lol.

Just saw the Rolling Stone article which mentions Taylor's "notable absence." Keith and Ron Wood's comments are typical: Keith: "Mick Taylor is a shadow man, he comes and goes". Um, thanks Keith. WTF does that mean? Wood: " I play the Taylor-made parts." Yeah - badly. And this: "It's less complicated for me to play them just with Keith."

This has been discussed many times, but it seems some folks still don't understand that a great album is more than the sum of its parts. In other its not a matter of counting hit songs. Exile is a statement, a mood, a work of art. If someone doesn't prefer it or enjoy it as much as many of us, that's fine, but it hardly makes it overrated. Some people don't like Picasso, some

Why put a guitar overdub on a rehearsal? Maybe it was just a looser, earlier take before they decided to use an acoustic. I do like Mick's singing.

Quotestonehearted <<contrary to M.T. he's not available>> But as with special guest star MT, Bill, if he'd stayed on from 2012, would have been given the heave-ho for the current tour. Perhaps it was just a case of leave before they let him go. He wanted to be the one to walk. Having them give him a "Your services are no longer required" note would have defea

QuoteLuxuryStones Quotekleermaker Quote71Tele I prefer Mick Jagger's rhythm playing to either of them. He brings a certain style that's all his. I would say the other two see rhythm more as a functional thing and are not terribly distinctive. Really? To be honest I don't like his playing on Sway and Winter that much. It's some strange kind of strumming he does. Not really pl

A real guitarist uses a .010-046 or even better a .011-052 set of strings. i actually liked him better before i started reading this thread and seeing how his fans all think he makes or breaks the rolling stones.
