I remember being so excited when Stone Alone came out and then I read it, and it was 90% about how much money Bill had in the bank each week, and what groupie he was screwing. Listening to Satisfaction from Oakland '69 show now.

Ghostryder, I don't think Bill Plummer would have been present for the LIB LA sessions, only the Exile ones.

13263. Keith Memoir
Hey there...Anyone know the status of our hero's autobiography, for which he received a handsome advance? Could this be the Holy Grail Stones tome we've all been waiting for?

Wasn't it in one of the Stones books that MT locked himself in his dressing room crying because he was in charge of the band but couldn't get it together? Always wondered if that was true.

I have recently rediscovered this near-masterpiece of a song. It could have been a classic had Mick finished the lyrics. My original Metamorphosis pressing had it credited Jagger/Richards/Taylor, then the "Taylor" was removed. Was Taylor's credit a mistake or were the Stones just being spiteful in removing the credit?...Also, was this a Sticky Fingers outtake? I saw credits here so

Thanks, bassplayer617! You see, this is why I joined this site. I have been a lonely Stones obsessive for 35 years. Now I have company.

So Keith doesn't stop Prodigal Son short because his guitar is out of tune, as in the Gimme Shelter extra footage??

71Tele, do you have Brussels Affair? This is as likely, for the moment at least, the best live concert you are likely to hear from the 73 tour. It is a must have for any Stones enthusiast and generally available in excellent sound quality. ChrisM, I have "Headed For An Overload" which I think is the same as Brussels Affair - soundboard recordings. It is what they used for the King

Love this thread. I miss Stu and Nicky. They were geniuses in their own way. Some very underrated keybord stuff on Goats Head Soup, with both of them contributing, as well as Billy Preston. Great keyboard album - Coming Down Again in particular and 100 years Ago. Even Mick on Hide Your Love.

13270. Re: Open G
Wild Horses is definitely in Open G. You could not get that "D" note to ring with all those chords unless the E string was tuned down...I agree that Rocks Off sounds like standard, mostly because it's in "E" - a very difficult key to play those boogie riffs with in Open G. However opening riff does sound like Open G, so maybe the Exile book is right...Whoever transcribed

Beatles simply because it was more songs, and the last time they appeared together live. But I really hate Beatles-Stones contests. I love 'em both for different reasons.

I'm new, so forgive me if this topic has been done to death before...I think the band was in top form during the '73 tour of Europe and sounds completely different from the '72 version or anything that came after it. My question: Did the Stones ever plan on formally releasing a live album, and was it blocked by Klein/ABCKO issues...and does anyone thinks there are prosepcts for the

I don't agree that the only appeal of the El Mocambo side is the song selection (though that was cool). You can feel the club atmosphere, and the guitars sound much nicer (Mesa Boogies?)...For the life of me, I can't figure out why they put out inferior live versions of JJF and BS.

I guess I started a "verboten" thread, the dreaded Ronnie vs. Mick T. I am new here and didn't know any better....BUT: My feelings about Ronnie are far more nuanced than what I might have indicated. He was GREAT on the Rod albums like Every Picture Tells A Story - playing multiple instruments, writing and arranging. He also covered ALL the guitar parts live with the Faces (except a

I guess my point was that no matter how good a few of the tracks on the other three sides sound, a whole recording of the El Mocambo set would have been a better-sounding and more unique LP. I don't see why they felt they needed to "document" the '76 tour, when they failed to document the 72 tour that way, and when much better live versions of songs like JJF were out on Ya-Ya&

Certainly not Hal Ashby. It could have been Scorcese - had they let him. Of course, the answer is B.

The Stones on the El Mocambo side of LYL are vibrant, tight, crisp, and sound great. The other three sides are lackluster, and the band sounds tired and murky. My question: Does anyone know why they didn't just take the entire live LP from the El Mocambo performances instead of using tapes of the 76 European tour for most of it? Did they not play complete sets at El Mocambo? This has always

I'm new here...I was a huge fan of the MT era, so very disappointed when Mick T. quit. I always thought there was more to the story than was made public at the time, which turned out to be true. I loved Ronnie with Faces, but his creative contribution to the Stones peaked at Some Girls and it's been down hill ever since. I have always felt that Keith was more comfortable having a sideki
