Very nice hidepark.I had the blue, white and red box set but it disappeared when my parents moved house in the early naughties. All I have left of it is the slip paper cover. My vinyl copies of London Calling and Sandinista plus a 12" Sister Sledge Lost In Music also vanished at the same time. Someone out there has my stuff.

John Perry (the Only Ones guitarist),in his book Classic Rock Albums,EOMS,says this; "Amid the diversity of fans gathered by the Stones in a career approaching its fortieth year,I still find *Tumbling Dice* works as a litmus test. You can sort out a particular type of Stones fan by the status they afford this song. Some think it definitive, others can't see what the fuss is about."

Personally I would go with Brown Sugar, but that's just me.I would have it in my top 10 records of all time for me. Nothing wrong with HTW,a great record in its' own right.

I've just watched the DF upgrade and it's fantastic. Mick Taylor's guitar is great. Jagger looks a bit *wired* though.

Yes,they could patch in JJF and LWM from another show, although it would be nice to know the truth of the two missing Leeds songs.

I thought Leeds,London,Liverpool and Brighton were professionally recorded ? Of course we have never found out why JJF and LWM were not included on the Leeds broadcasts. I agree with most other people that this is again a massive wasted opportunity, but as I've said before Jagger has little interest in the recorded legacy.Or he doesn't understand what fans like us want to hear,or more

I d/l this from dime and it's a very good listen apart from the awful Keef version of AIHTDID. I do realise however, that many folk do like that kind of thing ;-) Anyway, highly recommended.

It's such a shame that Jagger & Co have such little interest in their recorded legacy. I've never understood it.

Black and Blue was the first Stones album I bought when I was old enough to be able to afford to buy an album. So the whole album is a soft spot for me but this tune is just excellent from start to finish.

Being a Bristolian and having lived most of my life in Bristol,I remember looking up the Bristol Evening Post reviews of the Colston Hall date in the local library.Infact I think I sent a copy to someone in Europe on this forum but can't remember who now. I don't recall any songs being mentioned, the reviewer being more interested in the reaction of the crowd in particualr the local Cli

Ah yes,it's inbetween Happy and TD. I'd always thought the comment was part of the intros. Shows how easy it is to mix these things up. I've still got the paper cover with the yellow sticker which came with the box set but not the box set and vinyl itself.I believe that was the original cover of the WWTCTS single album. My vinyl copies of London Calling and Sandinista disappe

Going back to the intro quotes,I feel the recent official release may have been edited. The WWTCTS quote was definitely made,a bootleg album was named after it.Infact the whole quote went something like "WWTCTS,did Billy go to church, did Billy go to church,he just woke up in there from last night".Or something very similar.Even the "desperate tune up twins" bit doesn't s

There'sa a very nice dvd taken from a 2013 rebroadcast of the above show being shared on Zomb tracker right now. I'm not the greatest Rod fan but watching some of it,it struck me how similar his stage appearance in 76 was to Mick's in 1975.Especially the eye make up.Must be a post glam thing. Also I had forgotten how popular Rod was back in the 70s.

Far be it from me to want to promote anything from the hideous Daily Mail, but I thought this picture article was very interesting. Not sure if the Stones played here but Zep and Elvis did.

I put an original copy of the first disc of Short & Curlies in my car stereo yesterday and it sounded shot to bits, like it was full of static. It has those cheap printed labels stuck onto the disc, perhaps that's the reason ?

I'm with silverdagger,Gimme Shelter from Wembley Sept 8th 73. Absolutely superb.Especially when taken with the Bedspring Symphony build up,the spoken intro (Bob Hope I think),a snippet of a version from 72 and then into the London version.Epic.

I think it has been shown by what was officially released on the Exile bonus disc that Jagger has little interest in this kind of stuff. The best thing to come out of it was the alternate ADTL which is excellent. As for Tumbling Dice,I guess any different mixes or alternates were passed over as not being worth the effort.Probably with alot of other interesting material too.
