Quote24FPS I saw them two nights, opening, and closing at Los Angeles, October '89. They were creaky and old the first night, magnificent the last. I thought it was like a royal crowning, especially when they played Ruby Tuesday. 2000 Light Years From Home was mindblowing. When they played Midnight Rambler the last night they seemed to lock into this golden circle of guitars and bass and jus

I didn’t get a chance to see them live during the SW tour so my only exposure to it was the Live at the Max video. But from my understanding, it was the first Stones tour after the Mick and Keith solo albums and bad blood between them in the press. I was curious what you all think of it. Was it a “comeback” tour for the Stones or do people consider it the beginning of the huge corporate side of t

Quoteexilestones Quotejohnnythunders I am hoping the massive collective knowledge of iorr can help me with some questions: 2. The arrangement of Its All Over Now is completely different to any other version I have heard (Jagger sings a different melody line ). Did they perform it like this anywhere else? This rendition of "It's All Over Now" was recorded in the studio and o

Pretty easy to be pessimistic about a new Stones album. How many years has it been since Bigger Bang?

I’m pretty sure the new Rolling Stones album will be out tomorrow and it’s their best since Exile. Also, tickets for the upcoming tour will be free.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotekeefgotsoul I saw Blondie playing guitar behind the stage at a Stones gig in 2005. It was on one of the first 3 songs. Possibly all 3. Saw him with my own eyes as my seat was located at the side of the stage. Edit: it was on Shattered and She’s so Cold. Did you hear him? Pretty sure he just played along to warm up. But it's true that the backing singer

“Sticky Fingers, to me, is rock & roll, top to bottom. It's the basis of why rock & roll is so cool. It's brimming with their influences, from blues to country, and they embrace it. They see the good in all those sorts of things. I see the good in them as well. How did the Rolling Stones influence the Melvins? Oh my god, I don't even know where to begin. The simplicity o

Giant wallet filled with cash to afford all the overpriced crap at the Stones merch table. NASA Telescope so I can see the band from my $300 seat that’s located in a different zip code than the stage. Earplugs to drown out the sound of the opening band.

I was listening to Rocks Off just now and was trying to imagine it without the horns. Basically guitar and piano driven with no horns. It would make the subtle guitar riffs stand out more. I was wondering if it would sound better. What do ya think?

QuoteLeonidP Quotekeefgotsoul ... As others have said, a collection of blues covers is fine. But it's also very sterile and safe... Again, people are changing history ... it was NOT considered sterile or safe when announced, go back to the web board at that time for proof, just on here alone. It was a huge risk and paid off huge dividends. Other bands have tried similar and failed mis

Doxa, Who hailed CH as the second coming of Exile? I don't see anyone claiming that. It makes your post seem kind of disingenuous to me. Dismissing people as "Keithettes" seems a bit silly too. It's possible to like both CH and B&L, but prefer one over the other; and doing so doesn't make anyone a Keith apologist or a Jagger fanatic. As others have said, a collec

Regarding the "lack of discipline" that doxa mentioned about Keith on CE... I'd say that a lack of discipline is just the thing Jagger needs! Mick needs to come out of his comfort zone and not be afraid to get a little sloppy. That is after all, what made the Stones so great in my opinion. All the best Stones moments show a major lack of discipline and a general rough around the

Which album do you like better? I prefer Crosseyed Heart. Blue and Lonesome tries to get back to their roots but I still find it to be a bit sterile. CH is looser, gritty and more natural sounding to me.

Quoteschillid Just please tell me that's not the album art of the new Stones record. Somebody made that with Photoshop in less than five minutes. Exactly what I was thinking. That art looks terribly amateur. Even if it was fan made bootleg art I would say it looks like garbage.

QuoteToxic34 Quotekeefgotsoul Brett Morgen is a hack. His cobain documentary is terrible also. Montage of Heck is a great documentary. If you were expecting the Nirvana story, well, it was never meant to be that. It's about Kurt and Kurt alone, after all. Plus, Dave Grohl has talked about things so much, he'd have absolutely nothing new to add. For those who think that the film is
