In between Busch Stadium in St. Louis and two nights of 20,000 each in Cleveland, Macca is bringing this show to my town to a building that holds 11,000. Apparently the "most intimate" venue on the tour. I haven't seen him since long before Linda died but five minutes from home?? WOOOT!!

Did I dream it? I got Jamming With Edward shortly after it came out in '72. As I recall there was a printed letter on a facsimile of Rolling Stones Records stationery from Mick explaining the project and how it filled the time "while they were waiting for the guitarist to get out of bed" or words to that effect. At the tender age of 14 I didn't understand why the lette

The original and the versions with Taylor and Bobby Keys a few years ago are the best. The version on Sticky Fingers Live is great because Ronnie has really stepped up his game in the last year or so. The worst are the 2003s because of Micks attempt to carry the song with a harmonica "solo."

I caught the last half hour last night and am looking forward to seeing it in its entirety. Tower grew much too big too quickly but the documentary only mentions $18.98 CDs in the Napster era in passing. The industry left Tower, et al, between a rock and a hard place.

Quotetatters Just heard that Mick Ralphs is sitting this one out and will be replaced by Rich Robinson from the Black Crowes. Should still be good, but .... kinda like seeing the Stones with Mick and Charlie as the only original members. Hey, speaking of great double bills who are gonna be out on tour this summer, how about Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy? Jeff is always the same and you never know

Quote1cdog QuoteJah Paul When I saw the Eagles two years ago (first and only time...sure glad I went), Joe stole the show...his playing was stellar and his voice in great shape. First time I'd ever seen him, too - he blew me away! You always here this from quite a few people after an Eagles show. I had (yes past tense) seen the Eagles a few times. At times I came away feeling that Joe

These are short run t-shirts designed to sell out before the copyright holder (in this case the Yankees AND the Stones) take action.

The Rolling Stones, et al, charge what the market will bear. Decades of sold out tours attest to that.

"Faraway Eyes" naturally. Imagine if side two kicked off with "Claudine" or "Everything's Turning to Gold."

I saw Bowie on Broadway as The Elephant Man. It was amazing. The opening segment featured the "doctor" lecturing the audience as to the Elephant Man's many deformities and as he described each one Bowie would twist himself into that position where he remained throughout the performance. This included a sideways curved spine. It looked agonizingly painful.

My wife loves them. She says it ear plugs cut distortion and distraction and allow her to hear the music in better detail. Most sound systems are very clean anymore (i.e. lacking in distortion and the damage it can cause to ear drums) so I usually forgo them. Except for AC/DC and Motorhead.

So much of what we think we want on archival releases has already been heavily booted. Double Door is just another example. Think about it. After Brussels '73 and Texas '78 each subsequent archival release has been met with increasingly waning enthusiasm. They lost me, for the most part, after they put out the Europe '82 set which was essentially the same as Largo '81.

QuoteStones50 Quoterbk It's going to be the same basic show as last summer. Open with SMU or JJF. End with YCAGWYW and Satisfaction. 15-16 other warhorses and a quasi-ringer or two in between. I know these things. I just do. You are right, unfortunately Toldyaso.

It'll be the same basic show as Zip Code which was the same basic show going back to 50 and Counting. They're not going to reinvent themselves for fifteen dates playing markets they haven't played in eons primarily for people who've never seen them.

Nope, I'm wrong. They're the same versions but Mick's voice sounds more upfront and less echoey on the Facebook video.

I figure rock'n'roll "generations" turn over every five years or so. The Stones hadn't been to Detroit in a decade. I can't tell you how many youngish (20s, 30s) folks I've met who were blown away by the Detroit show. Forty years on I knew what to expect and they WERE exceptional that night but I heard it several times later: "If I'd have known they we

This is a great video. I'd love to shake the hands of the guy(s) who put this together. The video is a beautifully edited collection of amateur phone videos married to a sound bed even more cool. The sound bed came first. It's several In Ear Monitor feeds combined with an excellent audience recording all balanced together to make the best non-soundboard I've ever heard. You can hea

I prefer the single version but there's no doubt the choir went over like gangbusters in 2012, '13 and '15. It ends with the choir too, remember.
