Quoteskipstone Because they're not 2009, they're 1971, 1973, 1974, 1976, etc... This is a common occurrence on remasters. I've never understood why they can't put both the original year of release along with the new copyright. They do in some cases, but it's very infrequent.

Quoteskipstone Another weird thing about these reissues - they all say 2009 on them. That's just so...odd. What's so odd about it?

Quotejohn r perhaps I scanned thru these 45 pages of posts too quickly, but what specific distortion are folks alluding too? There is distortion on some of these orig. masters. I'm of the mind set that tap hiss should not be removed from the master when transferred to cd. With only SF, GHS & IORR so far, i'd note GHS especially is full of distortion, sonic oddness, ghost vocals, etc

QuoteLorenz Compared to the Virgin issues. In my opinion they Universals have a much clearer sound, better bass - overall it sounds cleared up and good, without losing touch. However, I do only have what you audiophiles would consider a crappy audio system. I agree the music is cleaner, more defined, over the Virgin issues. Unfortunately, when I listen on my Bose headphones, I hear tons of dist

Quotecurtisdavis QuoteLorenz Quotecurtisdavis Quotecurtisdavis Where can the boxset be found in the USA?Does anybody know? Everywhere? Like on amazon? I am talking about the 4 disc boxset the one that comes with the 4 discs and the box to hold 14 discs. In the original press release it says the box that houses the remasters will be released in the U.S. at the end of the run (which means Exi

Quotedrewmaster P.S. It's interesting how there are two sharply divided camps on this board ... those who feel that new remastering is doing the Stones a disservice, and those (like me) who feel that the new remasters are more faithful to how the Stones were meant to sound. Well, the remasters would be great if they didn't jack up the volume so much. You can hear the improvements in t

These remasters would have been so much better if they didn't jack the volume up so high. It's causing several songs to distort either vocally or musically (example - Coming Down Again is completely unlistenable due to distorted vocals). I'm completely shocked these remasters were approved for release. Where's the quality control? Universal remasters have been among some of th

Quoteboston2006 And in retrospect , what is everyones opinion of " Rarities " ? I remember when Rarities came out I was like, oh, there's the box set...ugh! At least it had some B-sides including Through the Lonely Nights and the long version of Miss You. BUT....

In 2001 the Stones were planning a 40th anniversary 6-CD box set out rarities (I'm sure similar to Springsteen's excellent "Tracks" box set). Unfortunately, it never came to pass. I went back and found the article I had read back then on Billboard.com. It's such a bummer that it never came to pass. Stones Readying 40th Anniversary Box Set December 07, 2001, 11:30

I picked up IORR and have mixed feelings about it. It's definitely in your face loud. I had to drop the volume about 25% in my iTunes player to get it to match the 1995 Virgin CD. It also sounds like the louder passages are either clipping or damn near it (check TWFNO around 5:45-ish)...and it can be a bit piercing on my Bose headphones at times. That being said, IORR has always been a muddy

So how exactly does one get this box to house the remasters in? Is it coming out tomorrow with the remasters (in the U.S.)? Do you have to buy it separately? Does it come only with the four remasters packaged as one set? I've yet to see it listed anywhere accept on Amazon as an expensive import with the four discs for $75.99 (Yikes!). Btw, I see the remasters are being released in Jap

Anybody remember this nugget? I was so pumped the day I read this...then a year or two later it turned into that lame single-disc Rarities 1971-2003. At least it had Through The Lonely Nights, but we could have had six discs worth of this. Who knows, maybe we'll finally get it for the 50th anniversary. QuoteNikolai Quotetatters Best hold on to your single CD of The Who Sell Out because they've dropped Melancholia - which is odd. It's meant to be an expanded version of Odds & Sods, which may be out next year. You mean Melancholia, which is on the expanded edition of The Who Sell Out, is not on the Deluxe edition of The Who Sell Out? The Deluxe edition of The Who Sell Out
